The Golden Rule goes as this:

Translated, this means treat other people just like you'd like to be treated yourself. For those advanced people, you can even change that to.. treat other people like THEY would like to be treated. That takes advanced empathy, but I digress.....

 

 

 

In this game of Runescape, and in the game of life, this golden rule will give you Karma. Karma = What goes around, comes around.

A stranger that has been ranging silently hears the conversation, and after my friend leaves, offers me a trade, and gives me 5 shark. I didn't know her. She didn't ask for anything. I accepted.

 

 

 

I finished my assignment, and said "Thank you for the sharks!" And dropped a Mystic Robe Top next to her and left.

 

 

 

Karma. Do nice things to people, and people will do nice things to you.

AMEN LEESTERS!!!! Karma is a great thing most of the times. I am training ranged at blue drags (see my thread in goals) and some guy is there with me. He was taking quite a while to kill them, and his arrows were appearing, well for the first 15 mins. everything was ok. Then a random noob comes in and starts stealing his arrows. I decide to help the guy out, i stand on top of them and get them before the other person, after he kills his drags i give them back. Well after about 5 or six drags, the newb left, and i could get back to training. My first drag after i got my first ever rare drop!! A loop Half key. Karma Baby, Karma.

Most annoying thing ever, but i usually say nothing when i train. So when people come to my spot, and i get the kill and they 'insult' mke. They never get a rise.

Now if only people would apply this to there playing. Honestly this should be some kind of required reading before playing the game. I know it wouldn't do much but at least people would see would runescape could be like if everyone would stop being so selfish and actually try to make this game more fun for everyone.

I think something similiar have happened to me.

 

 

 

I had just lost some stuff worth of 300k to a "friend".

 

And told it to my friend (not "friend" :P )

 

Well, I had lost my dds, and something else, and he wanted to give me his dds, which I didn't accept. So he just dropped his dds on floor :?

Well, the golden rule works okay in general.

 

But, if your not patient and understanding of the fact that everbody has a different perspective and values, then your going to take exception to something too quickly and end up in that endless "eye for an eye" conflict.

 

 

 

Also, I wouldn't invest in Karma.

 

Life isn't fair.

 

Why should it be? Fairness is relative to your viewpoint and random events do occur without hidden meaning.

 

That is to say drawing conclusions between unrelated events (e.g. good deed one days lead to fortune the next) is more human nature and how the brain seeks patterns than devine intervention or fate.

Once, in Fally East, some guy who is now on my friends list, gave me some free runes which he had no use for. I was really thankful, popped to my own bank and gave him an addy kite (t), which I also had no use for. He was really chuffed as at the time, he was only like level 47.

sad thing is karma relies on everyone having perfect morales which; you, i and everyone else dont have. But what the hey I guess its a nice discreetly aragont mentality I however wouldnt encourage it.

Once i was training range at blue drags under heros guild and this noob pops up and steals my arrows. I say to myself, "OK no big deal only what 22 iron arrows out of 10k." After a while, the numbers just stack up. The 10k that I had at the beginning turns to 5k in nothing flat, and the noob is still there merrily taking my arrows. Well after about X amount of hours, all my arrows are gone and the noob has about 8k+ of my arrows. Well, I didn't care about that, all i cared about was that I politely asked him to stop, but he didnt. Well, he finally attacks a blue dragon and I try to get out to go restock arrows. I open the gate and boom! dragon firebreaths him for a 20 and he dies. I get my 8k arrows back plus dragon legs 8) . Karma owns j00 all

agree. very interesting.

 

but this game has nothing to do with KARMA. you can be mean to people all you want, and hey, you can be realllly nice, and nothing comes to you from anything. im generally a nice person in real life but in this game, Naaa, not in this game. people are so rude and immature. i just turn my shoulder... oh well!

He seemed really happy, he started talking. He said that he was getting 50k cash so he had 1 mill. he even apoligised for bothering me. I didn't mind at all.

 

 

 

When he was on his last run, I followed him to the bank (he didn't notice). Handed him the 50k :-)

I'm sorry to be jerk or anything, but none of those stories involve karma. It seems that you're taking karma into your own hands. For example...

 

 

 

In story #1: You dropped a mystic top for the girl for being nice. It would have been karma if she got a rare drop from the monster she was killing after being nice.

 

 

 

In story #2: You reported him and he got banned via "karma." Well, it would have been karma if you didn't report him and something bad happened to him anyway (whether rl or rs)

 

 

 

In story #3: Would have been karma if she got the rune medium herself

 

 

 

In story #4: Not really anything karmic going on there other than a nice lesson from Leesters to his friend (Trojann? :P)

 

 

 

Though I guess you could consider the above stories karma now that I think about it. Anyway, I remember KQ-ing with Trojann and we've had some "karmic" experiences.

 

 

 

For example, a noob girl comes by and dies. I snag her obby shield. A few runs later, Trojann dies just as his prayer depletes and loses his helm. A guy named dr3wbie takes it and won't return it unless for full price.

 

 

 

Also, a few times I help the lost, poisoned noobs frantically running around her lair trying to get out so they don't die and lose their cheap armor - got a chain the following run one time

 

 

 

Can't remember all of my experiences that have possibly involved karma, but those are the ones that made me wonder :shock:

I remember, way the heck back in RSC, a high level guy was hanging around the bank asking for 1 water rune. Just one. So, I gave it to him. As I was walking away, he caught back up to me and tried trading with me. Curious, I looked to see what was up. He put a rune scimmy up and accepted.

 

 

 

Mind you, I think rune scimmies back then were only obtainable trough high leveled smithers, and I was a noob. This was the most generous thing anyone on RS had ever (and has ever, I think) done for me.

Once at blue dragons i was low on food and a level 91 gave me a couple of lobsters and i was able to kill one last dragon, as i was leaving i saw here start to mage a dragon but then start being hit by the dragon fireblast because her casting the spell had caused her to move into its range, she died , i picked up her mystic and runes , pmed her and gave all her stuff back to her.

 

On another occasion also at the blue dragons i was maging and i kept getting the dragon leaving the two other rangers unable to get it , i offered to share but when i left it for them to get they just rengaged in the calling of n33b we 0wn3d u.

 

I then decided to kill the dragon and not share so they engaged in saying a whole manner of things like we,ve reported you for autoing and also very rude things about "my mother".

 

So they started shutting the door to the cage not letting me get out and becoming in danger of the dragon, later i saw one dieing and dropping only dragon hides and bones , when he pmed me saying 0i n33b gim33 my h1d3s and b0nes i clicked ignore and that was that :)

 

Karma is a good thing

a guy in hill giant cave died and i was first there.. i got his 4k steel arrows, full d-hide and some runes.. i took it and gave it back to him... some hours later he told me that he pked full rune plus whip, and that he will give me full rune just becuz i gave him the stuff he lost when he died :) :D

well, im always nice to people, report rules breakers, and today at fishing spot in catherby there was a group of 5 maybe 6 people being racist and generally not kind.

 

Heres what happened

 

"I loved it when the Twin Towers blew up"

 

"yeah me too it was so funny watching people crying on tv"

 

"yeah i hate jews"

 

"no man it was the (it gets a bit rude so i wont post but it begins wiv a p :( )

 

 

 

then a guy said "oi! im a jew"

 

and they all go did u get a snip, and continue to say "snip" "snip" until he has to log off.

 

I then reported the lot of them, i hope jagex bans the scum...

 

Anyway, even after all of this i have never got anything good from drops etc. while my mate who isnt rude but isnt as kind as me, got a leftie off fire giants, sara kite off tt and a whip for 2mil all in 3 days :shock:

 

so im not sure Karma is relevent but still it helps the game run smoothly..

I was high alching yesterday on the castle wars wall and this level 98 came by, we started talking about what were gona use our cash for, he said whip (aparently he lost his in wildy) and i said zammy pl8 :D , oh well he said hes 200k short and i had about 800k , so i gave him the 200k he needed , 15 minutes later he trades me and *holy cow* he handed me a zammy pl8 and he left with a "ty". !!!!!

I didn't like that story (a change from the majority of your stories). I realize the situation's annoying, and she may have appeared to be blatantly disrespecting you. However, the situation's a bit different.

 

 

 

One demon, I get it. You've been there a while, and you like to establish a "ritual" (couldn't think of a better word). But 2? And then claiming them as your own? I don't like it Leesters. :(

 

 

 

It's good that you gave her something after you understood she wasn't being intentionally difficult. But was it Karma? Or did you feel remorse for insulting her?
