Map Direction...

I have been wondering for a while what you guys do with your Mini Map/Screen Direction while you are playing. Personally I always have my Map/Screen facing the same way, if it is facing a different direction I will get disorientated and lost.

So do you do this? Or do you change the way the screen is facing depending on where you are?

I tend to leave it so North is pointing up; I usually get more disoriented if I keep moving the map around than if I leave it alone.

There are times when I will swing the camera around, though; coming out of the Wild to see what's in front of me, for instance, or in the Crafting Guild to see when the Gold rocks have respawned. But, most often, North = Up and I have the camera at it's highest "bird's eye" angle.

I've always been curious how others do this too, but never bothered asking. Thanks for doing the honors.

North is "up" 90% of the time for me. When it's not, it's usually because I need to see something further in the distance (like when mining coal in the mining guild and waiting for the mithril to respawn).

Yea that is Generally what I do, keep North up unless I need to look in a certain direction...

I too like to twist it to face the direction I'm going to, or if I'm training and my character is otherwise idle, I enjoy spinning the camera round and looking at the uber 3D-ness of my great character. I know - I'm weird. :(

i dont see why people like to keep it on north all the time
It's a mix of ease, efficiency and old habits.

the view sometimes can get anying and its not that hard consirdering that the compass is right there
I've never been annoyed by the view (I'm not easily annoyed) and whether it's hard or not isn't part of the consideration. It's just a preference. I prefer charcoal over propane. I prefer rock over hip-hop. I prefer summer over winter. I prefer heels over flats... on women. I prefer my compass facing north 90% of the time.

Dang it, now I'm hungry for barbecue.

I've been ranging at moss giants for a long time. And when I say long, i mean from level 70-91. Anyway, whenever I train there, I tend to have my map facing the same way every time.

It's just a habit I guess but it allows me to see both of the giants in the area, so it's probably the best.

I'm pretty much familiar with every place in the F2P world except for the wildy and Rimmington, so which ever I spin, I would know where I'm going.

But when I'm training... I have to turn the cam at a certain angle to attack the monster first.
