What happens to all the noted items we alch?

Featured Replies

Well if your an alcher you probably alch your items noted.

Well those notes are a piece of paper that can be given to the bank in return for the item printed one the note. Well when we alch the note, that piece of paper is gone, and the bank still has all the items. What do they do with all these items.

Recently i've made around 3k maple long bows and banked them. Took out notes which means i've left about 3k maple longs bows in the bank. What are they going to do with 3k maple long bows now that I ahve money and the notes are gone forever?

Philosophy in a tin can for ya.

Obviously, what they do is they see you casting the spell on a worthless piece of paper. So they have one of the bank works alch the actual item, then silently hand you the money without you noticing.

We don't rebel to sell it just suits us well, we're the bright young things.

it becomes the banks property and they can do what they wish with it

What many people don't understand is that after you alch an item a imp tactical combat group runs into the bank and steals it... they got this whole gig going for these items... the bank thinks that the items dissapper and the player get cash from paper... simple!

course the imps now have about 321,231,562,123,353,687,543,x10^99K yew longbows but cmon who wouldn't want that many?

Of course you can alch noted items, and yes they give the same xp.

If you couldn't alch noted stuff I'd be very very poor. No whip for me.

I miss you all (Well, mostly my friends n stuff)

If you want to talk to me, send me a message, I check the boards daily. :D

you'd still have money, just a lot slower.

Yes, you get the same amount of xp and gp per alch.

I assume that notes in RS work differently than their equivalency in real life. I wouldn't be surprised if the bankers are also mages. When an item is withdrawn as a note, a spell is cast on it. The item still exists, but in a two-dimensional form (a.k.a. "it's put on a piece of paper"). Although this allows for compactness, it limits its usefulness. When you decide to alch the item, however, it still has the same value as when it was in its orginal 3-D form, so it will give you the same amount of gp.

Simple as that.

Maybe when you alch it, you actually sell it to the bank and so you get money and it disappears. :? :-k :|

What they do with 100k unstrung yew longs a day I don't know...

I'm back?! No wayz!!!

I just figured that the bank took the bows (and other items) and sold them to the respectable shop (where do you think stock comes from)

But your stories work too

It is very possible, but as they are shop owners, they don't have time to make stuff, so they buy wholesale groups of items for sale.

Well, it's all in file formats, see. Normal items are a file called

.itm

In note form, they aren't like, say a check. They are in a compressed format (.ztm).

So what happens when you use a file format converter program (there's a good one called High Alchemy by Jagex Ltd., you can buy it for 55 mage, pretty good price), is it converts the .itm file to .gp file, which is money. High Alchemy also comes with an embedded decompressing thing, so it can decompress .ztm files to .itm files then convert them to .gp files.

And that's what happens to noted items.

  • Never trust anyone. You are always alone, and betrayal is inevitable.
  • Nothing is safe from the jaws of the decompiler.
