jaklumen
About Jagex and originality: Many sci-fi/fantasy writers and game designers borrow pretty heavily from real life. They do so because it draws readers and players in; if concepts were all created from whole cloth, they'd be difficult to relate to, and writers and designers would have to spend time explaining them, which some people don't want to waste time doing. I doubt anyone can come up with a concept that is 100% original in every way, since then it wouldn't have a point of reference to understand it. speedofsound
My dad fishes them for a living I always knew that. -.- You can't ever find a place that's nice and peaceful, because there isn't any. You may think there is, but once you get there, when you're not looking, somebody'll sneak up and write "(bleep) you" right under your nose. Try it sometime. I think, even, if I ever die, and they stick me in a cemetery, and I have a tombstone and all, it'll say "Holden Caulfield" on it, and then what year I was born and what year I died, and then right under that it'll say "(bleep) you." oblivion2006
A lot of stuff in RS are real things. Toadflax and snapdragon are real plants.Guam leaf is form 'Guam Island' in the Pacific Ocean, I suspect. 50% of the stuff Jagex puts intot eh game is based on real life. That would make sense. Blizaga57
This doesn't show that they do research. It just shows that they just use what is already created and implement it into the game. If anything, it shows lack of creativity.

Mr_Hyde1218
1. i knew about monk fish before jagex ever introduced them in the game. 2. just from my (very) basic knowledge of Latin roots, i could tell that the root of piscatoris at the least was affiliated with fish. conclusion: this thread is spam fodder. and for the love of crap, stop it with the picture quotes. save my finger some grief. proud quest cape ownerhere's my first post on the TIF (scroll to the bottom)feel free to pm me, but do make sure that i know you're a Tip.It user (in other words, give me a HYT)

Freesia
Nice find but did you manage to find any predators of monkfish since trolls don't exist irl? Strangely with WotLK so near, I wished I could delay it a bit to push through that last TBC content in MH/BT :'(.

Peronix
Wow... I wonder why monkfish heal 16 when they are so small. I've seen a real marlin (AKA swordfish, which heal 14 :-k ) and they get like 10-15x bigger than that.

I've seen a real marlin (AKA swordfish, which heal 14 :-k ) and they get like 10-15x bigger than that. Monkfish probably heals 16 because they felt a need for something between swordfish and sharks, and swordies were the second best fish for a LONG time...besides, I've had swordfish, and it's pretty bland Legends quest completed at lvl 47 on X Legendre X#3056 to 99 firemaking, achieved on July 4th, 2007.Tied for #1854 to 99 farming, achieved on September 3rd, 2008.
