I never look whilst typing anymore; haven't for years.

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I-

I took the one less traveled by,

And that has made all the difference.

Considering I've never had a day of typing lessons in my life, here's my go.

I can type very well, it's actually impossible for me looking at the keyboard. My glass screen blocks it, something like this:

Computer

Keyboard

------------

Empty space.

I can type a lot quicker and without looking at the screen then all the other kids at my school....

[Admin Edit: No naming names in a negative light]

Well I have a theory. You have to LOOK at it once before you start typing. You can't just get blindfolded...and ask someone to put a keyboard infront of you. You have to get used to the configuration, and ithat takes a second

It doesnt on mine, since it has little markers on the f and j keys so I can feel if my index fingers are positioned correctly.

@BlueLancer: I type them too, but I find the buttons usefull to just apply them to the bits you highlight..

[iNSERT "I R EATIN TEH SHIX ATM" BILL COSBY SIGNATURE GIF HERE, LOL]

I'm learning how to type without looking at the keyboard, Don't bother to try by yourself with like notepad... It wont work. I use TypingMaster... It's great and the practices really works

I only look at the keyboard once in a while. Usually not at all. And when I am looking I am not trying to find the keys, it's weird, I'll look but it doesn't change anything, my hands just go right to the keys without me trying to find them.

You can't ever find a place that's nice and peaceful, because there isn't any. You may think there is, but once you get there, when you're not looking, somebody'll sneak up and write "(bleep) you" right under your nose. Try it sometime. I think, even, if I ever die, and they stick me in a cemetery, and I have a tombstone and all, it'll say "Holden Caulfield" on it, and then what year I was born and what year I died, and then right under that it'll say "(bleep) you."
No real life pictures please.

:D I don't think that's Cad's rl picture :P [seen it everywhere] but i sort of see your point.

Oh, and the semi-useful point i have to add is my 'method' (consisting of no method but neccesity from MORRG :), has a massive achile's heel. I CAN ONLY WRITE FAST ON MY OWN COMPUTER :(  Other keyboards are slower, and occasionally need keyboard viewage, and WORST of all are laptops, I NEED to concentrate on keyboard and type slowly :P

I'm just going to type what I'm hearing on the radio:

Let the rain up on what I feel right now, let the rain come down.

Into the ocean end it all, into the ocean end it all, etc.

Meh, no typoes, not hard at all.

x9whitey9x.jpg

The code in my sig should say 1032 not 0132.

I don't believe typing programs are neccesary. Don't waste your time, just play online games and talk alot. I learned from everquest, ::'.

I havn't played that for years though.

Another weakness is however is your finger usage. It'll take a while to assimilate to whatever method you taught yourself how to type and into the "proper" way. You'll know where the keys are though.

I'm typing this without looking at the keyboard. Just posting this to say I thought Kinslayer777 were Kayla because of the xmas avatar they both use.

Perfectly what I wanted to say..

Uhhh, I will try...

Let's all go outside! It's snowing as we speak!

I typed the "Uhhh, I will try..." without looking, plus the sentence without messing up. I peck too, so it's kind of wierd I can type without looking :)

Erm.. I might have to disagree with one of your comments. I type by pecking, and I do quite well. I type 95 words a minute (Last time I checked). I do up to 4 fingers at the same time, just depends if it's an easy word like "word", or like "joking". So, just do whatever feels right, and you'll get used to typing that way.

But two things I do agree with is you will soon 'remember' where keys are and type really fast. PLus, RuneScape got me to type fast, plus, even stand typing. I used to have my mom type my homework and stuff before the 7th grade (When I started playing, 3 years ago.)

Okay, let's see. The Red Sox are cool. They signned [eyes closed]Daisuke Maatsuzaka[eyes open]. Anyways, penguins are as cool as the Red Sox. Maybe even cooler. But who cares, I can type without looking at the keyboard. But I can't do it that well with my eyes closed, but why would anyone need to type with their eyes closed?

Best way to do essays. If you stare at the screen, you will get writers block, and can't do a thing.

I normally put my keyboard on the floor, put my forehead on the ground, and just type whatever happens.

I might try that next time I have to write an essay. Staring at the flashing mouse cursor always gets me a block.

I haven't looked at the keyboard when I type for about four years now.

Ghost: I am prejudice towards ignorance, so that would explain why I appear to be so.

I find it really easy I've had my own computer since 4th grade, so I'm just so used to it. I haven't looked at the keyboard in... forever!

In fact, I don't even really look at the monitor when I type so I don't notice when I make mistakes a lot (which is rare for me to make a mistake). I generally just think about what I'm writing and it comes out.

Also, I could never tell you where the keys were (well maybe I could tell you the location of half of them on the keyboard) but I could type them out in the air in front of you without seeing a keyboard or computer in hours.

I typed this thing with my eyes closed, now lets see how I did?
