TheTrepidOne Posted November 17, 2008 Share Posted November 17, 2008 I've been muted on many occasions, my latest mute, which was for 1 week, was the most pathetic yet, It thought getting muted for a typo I did, was bad, but really: Jagex really need to grow up somewhat. I get what you mean- for example about a year ago i was on my old account (EggOrbacon) I was enjoying myself training woodcutting (lame i know) and i had friend chat on somebody came and said abuse to me and obv i just turned the chat to friends a few minutes later when i logged out (for tea) i had been muted for offensive language! If you look at my posts, or wa5t3dy0u7h's post, as examples, you should be able to see that there is not really any reason to add these offences to our accounts. Example: if I want to show my friend some "fire art" made by me and decide to add some humour to my sentence, saying "look @ my hawt art ^^", is it really worth placing an Offensive Language offence on my account? No, I think not. Also, if someone spams in their CC being alone, who does it offend? No-one! It doesn't fill anyone's chatbox, except his/her! So, does (s)he deserve to get an offence from it? No! Besides, this is the RANT forum, and it's used to help people vent out their frustrations. What do you think that happens when people read your post where you claim we whine over nothing? Yes, that's what you basically say in your post. Think what you would feel like if you would be really frustrated, would vent your frustration here, and everyone would just come and post "stop whining!" and "get over it!" on your topic! They were talking trash and then started to speak in Spanish. Although I am not Hispanic, I understand Spanish pretty well having grown up in a heavily Hispanic populated community. I told them they had no nuts because they felt it neccesary to call my mother a *itch in Spanish. I know the reason they did was becuase they figured I couldn't understand them. So it is okay to call someones a mother a *itch in Spanish, but you can't tell them they have no nuts after doing so. They reported me and I got muted for 24 hours. I think it is time Jagex mods learn another language before they decide to go around handing out punishments. Or at least investigate and find out what was said. It helps a lot if you can't control yourself over internet insults. It's a bit like the DOTA games in warcraft : the skilled player will sometimes insult you 10 seconds before attacking you, so that you are angry and typing your reply when the attack comes... There's nothing wrong in trying to debating, but If you can't debate without resorting to offensive language, I suggest you use the ignore list. You also have to take into account that using offensive language to someone sitting on a chair in front of a screen that you can't see is not worth the risk to get a ban, mute or any black marks. I also found that using intelligent replies will deter any players trying to abuse me. Replying something that has no link to the abuse you're experiencing is also confusing to the abuser. i.e. -abuser : no-lifer noob! -me : my dad just died... -abuser : ...liar noob! -me : nice weather today... they usually stop after a while and I get a good chuckle trying to imagine them in front of their screen.
