January 7, 200719 yr I was recently doing some reasearch and comparing some capes. I realized that the obsidian cape is worth around 200k these days and gives +9 to all defence stats, and that the legends cape is worth 675 gp at the legends guild and gives +7 to all defensive stats. My question is, if you're a high level player and have gained entrance to the legends guild, why would you pay 199k more for +2 defence?
January 7, 200719 yr Well thats why I did legends cape. Stats are very good, useful for pking and risking because its cheap. Much cheaper than 250k obby cape. Plus arnt the new 99 capes better than obby, but only 99k. Retired 8th October 2007 | 99 Fishing | 99 Cooking | Owner of a Red Mask and 2 Santa Hats |

January 7, 200719 yr 250k isn't really that much money..yeah i agree it isn't too much.. I got my Obby cape as a drop the 1st day they were released.. I still have that same cape too lol RSN: drgnslyer15 15 skills 90+ - 10 skills 99 - 200m+ total exp
January 7, 200719 yr Why not? How much are berserker rings, and how much stats do they add? How much better is a fury then a glory, and look at the price difference there. Jack of all trades, master of thieving. 259th to 99 thieving. All stats 75+

January 7, 200719 yr Well considering my particular Obsidian Cape was from a drop, I can't really say anything (considering I'm also lv98 combat and haven't even entered the Jungle). Although that's what I've been wondering about the Lava Cape as well. There was a conversation yesterday (I think) about why the 99 skill capes give less defense than a Lava Cape, when in actuality it's only +2 that the Lava Cape gives over skill capes (minus the prayer bonus). So I've been wondering why do people care? Given the Lava Cape has a strength bonus, but I still don't intend to go get a Lava Cape anytime soon. My obsidian cape is just fine thank you very much. don't worry, you are going to "hell" anyway. wanna race to see who gets there first?Officially reached 100 Combat at 1:33PM EST, June 14, 2007First Dragon Drop: Dragon Chain (Dust Devils) @ 10:48PM EST, July 14, 2008, lv113 combat

January 7, 200719 yr Unfortunately the RS economy is based on nothing more than rarity of an item. The item's stats don't seem to make much difference if it's rare. Sig And Avatar by Tripsis - 99 Slayer Blog - My Pyramid Plunder GuideOwner of Fire Cape since 28-09-2005 - 426th to 99 Strength
January 7, 200719 yr someone had a post about this but i forgot who o it was on the official forum but anyways he compared the prices of tons of items such as barrows - dragon in every category barrows beat dragon and yet pple still buy dragon armor it really is just due to the rarity of the item and showing your wealth phats have no use but pple still save up for them lost rights to my dark red text >:( 12/20/06 - QUEST CAPE OF ACHIEVEMENTBarrows sets: guthan, verac, dharok, maybe ahrim eventually <- lost to a hacker whole stole everything of worth from my bank
January 7, 200719 yr its the same as paying 2mil for a stupid ring... (duno if it was +mage or range or str) for just +4 or something... ^^ click my sig for my lesser ranging guide ^^jwrm22: 4816th > 99 cooking 100% f2p !1172 total! + 140mil in items.i dont play anymore... i think rs is ruined
January 7, 200719 yr 250k isn't really that much money.. for people like my self it is, the max I've ever had is less than 150k, so 250k is forever too much for me. January 7, 200719 yr I sold my obby cape the day of Cape of achievements came out for like 350k. I new they were gonna drop because COA are 99k and have same defence. But people that can get into Legends Guild and poor shouldn't bother with the +2 def. Better ways to spend the 250k. Conclusion: if your rich and have completed Legends Quest will get the +2 defence. (unless they have CoA or fire cape) Quit RuneScape :)
January 7, 200719 yr 250k is quite some amount for me, so I'll rather get a Legends Cape. "The cry of the poor is not always just, but if you never hear it you'll never know what justice is."

The fire cape (yes, fire ;)) is in every way better than a Cape of Achievement. When comparing a fire cape to a Cape of Achievement, fire cape has: +1 more attack bonuses, +2 more defence bonuses, +2 more prayer (or -2 prayer against a trimmed Cape of Achievement), and +4 more strength bonus. So the real question is why wouldn't you choose a fire cape over a Cape of Achievement? Sure, it's hard to get. But it's hard to lose unless you're reckless with it. It's also a much greater status symbol, in my opinion; but that's a debate for another time. People care because every bonus counts. Ranked top 15 in the world for In The Groove. January 7, 200719 yr 250k isn't really that much money.. Exactly. And it's a great alternative for lower levels... OH, and did I mention it's a better cape?
January 7, 200719 yr I got my Obby cape as a drop when a player died in Tzhaar. But I'm going for a 99 now so plan on selling it before and getting my 99 cape. I also considered selling it when I've completed legends, I would rather spend 675gp (or whatever) on a cape I don't really care about and basically wouldn't have to take off.
January 7, 200719 yr its the same as paying 2mil for a stupid ring... (duno if it was +mage or range or str) for just +4 or something... i paid 4mil for my beserker ring:) i love it. the idea is, alternatives. theirs no str ring alternative but theirs alternatives to obby cape, such as legends 99's fire... thats it i think?

January 8, 200719 yr The obby cape was out a year before achievement capes, so it had a purpose. I wore it until I got the fire cape in the spring time. It also looks nice. Paying 20 mil for a dragon chain over barrows plates never made sense to me. But, people would, so the price remained high.
