I'm not a fan of farming myself but it is useful for growing my herbs.

I have to keep watering my limpwurt plant? Hmm, no wonder half of them die even with super compost... :?

No longer playing Runescape, I caught the WoW bug.

SO..

I only water my limp plants once and they die like only 10% of the time.

buzz im going to try to understand your logic.

your idea for why farming isn't a good skill is that you cant just put it in and it survive 100% of the time, its a waste of time? so under that idea, do you get mad when you kill a monster and don't get it's best drop in the first kill?

farming takes patience, tolerance, and willingness to fail a few times.

if you want a successful way to train it, heres what i did up to 30:

in catherby, use supercompost in each farming zone, plant 6 potato seeds in the 2 allotment areas, whatever seed you choose, and either maringold or limpwurt. then go fish lobsters and cook them. after around 2-4 loads(depending on your level) go check and the potatos will be done, as well as maringold/limps. harvest, re-compost, and re-plant. go fish/cook another 2-4 loads. check back and each zone should be finished. harvest all, and repeat everything.

should work and it gives you lobsters for training.

i personally love farming, one of my favourite skills

I like farming, and I dont understand why you would wait for your crops to grow??

who likes wacking a tree with an axe? or holding food over a fire? so fun.

Thats cool. Ill gonna try that. I need farming 49 for Fairytaly part 2 so... that'll be cool. Or i could chop yews in yew park over there and then check after 2 loads, water, 2 loads, check.

Maybe ill get higher lvl then cons...

And then my cons get higher in tears of guthix without spending money.

THANX for the advice, very useful

masterofquestep4.gif

no problem at all, i trained to 30 with that, then added in trees, and at 48 i just used tears to get it up to 50, got lazy =p

So... trees are now good for my lvl?

I've planted 1 willow in Lumby

Gonna plant more trees now :)

I don't mind farming, it gives herbs, but maybe one reason why i like it is because it is different from other skills. Basically every other skill is just clicking, but with farming there is more thought.

err...what's fun about clicking a monster, then whacking at it? Same principles here. Farmingn is fun because there is a wide range of things to do, and it gives you nice things. Herb farming for me is the only way to get irits for super antis for pyramid plunder. Mainly the wide variety of things is fun, it wasn't a mistake...you just lacking the interest to actually get started in it, because you have never really actually spent a good effort (from what it seems) trying to level it. Spend 3 days, your tools, seeds, tele runes and just do it. While things are growing, go clueing. It's fun.

Point of this topic?

Some like farming, some doesn't.

Some like y, some doesn't.

Some like x, some doesn't.

Etc., etc., etc.

And it is not like people just stand there looking at the crops (some does? #-o ) I, fx., plant mine and then go do something else.

Not boring then, nor funny.

Feel free to add me on RS. :) Always ready for a chat.

People hate this skill because it is different. You can do "power farming" or something. You can't farm for like 3 hours straight.

Tell me, why is farming boring and is cutting a tree for hours and hours fun? Or killing the same monster hundreds of times? Of fish a single fishing spot for hours? Do I have to go on?

The runescape community hates every kind of change. Every time time something changes, (almost) everybody hates it. Don't believe me? Just check the official rants forum just after any update. So to me, it's more the root of the problem is in the community and not in the skill.

When everything's been said and done, more has been said than done.

To enjoy farming, the crucial point is at having you accept that plants will not always survive.

After you have accepted that, a great part of the way will be done.

Then it is really simple:

-Pick Pineeapple on karamja and make supercompost with it (when yuo can grow palm, coconut are awesome as you sell the milk for 2 or 3k and use the shell for compost, especially that you get 6coconut per tree :)

- Use supercompost on patch (around 4 out of 5 herbs will survive on average)

-I only grow herbs (nearly only snapdragon except the high levels i get as drop)and Limpwurt. Snap because sup restore sell really easily. If you are lower, just grow the highest you can.

- come back after 90minutes (or if you slay when your assignment is done). Checking the 5 patches should takes you about 10minutes and yuo will get an average of 30herbs.

- If you have an ammy of nature, just link it to the latest patch you planted. When this one will be fully grown, all will be ready. Also, if you wear the ammy, it will make some noise when it is fully grown \'

Farming is as simple as that. No need to wait ours looking your patches..

i just love farming, because i love Brewing! and no one sells wildblood (or other hops/mushrooms) so i grow them myself, also farming is quite an interesting and not buyable skill

The clock is ticking, and your time is running out, mortals.

If you say Farming is pointless then I really have an urge to slap you. Farming is a great skill which gives you great materials for herblore. Look up the Top 21 at Runescape official Highscores, you'll see that many people who have a high farming also have a great herblore level. Farming is a great skill to get materials for herbs, you can get levels with Farming really fast and you can also gain profit by that.

damage112bs4.gif
Farming is he worstest skill ever madez!! my mate is farm crazy shes lvl 99 farming its like all she does

major skillign addict

she like the herbs... it earns her barely any profit tho...

but she buys the seeds, profits from the herbs and probably makes potions from the herbs, in turn farming&herblore exp is a reward for profiting? what a hard life...

if you really want to try farming...buy1k laws 10k yew long bow supplies, fletch in catherby bank and tele hourly to the spots then return to fletching. takes 15minutes to get all the crops done and then your back to doing fletching...

Limpwurt plants grow in 16.5 minutes. Not very long at all.

Then ill plant under Falador, in Mort Myre Swamp. And above Ardougne.

Should be all watered all the time... Tele, tele, tele...

Useless

somehow i dont think you're 16...

try 11?

heres what you do:

get the plots, weed them, treat with super compost, and water. Now go train combat for an hour, and come back and harvest them.

not so hard is it? And if it's an allotment, you can even plant a protective bush! Imagine that!

All I honestly have to say is....if you don't like, DON'T DO IT. It's not a hard concept. You don't like farming. Don't do it. Just sell me your seeds and get on with it. Nobody is forcing you to farm. That's the beauty of RS, so many things to do.

I'm next to positive farming wasn't the first released skill. I was around when runecrafting was introduced then I quit for 2 years and came back to slayer, farming and thieving :-k

Anyways, farming is useful, cheap herbs which mean fast herblore training, and it's good exp while you're doing something else :P
