I thought farming S*CKS but now.... IDK

Featured Replies

Why do I bother...You water it once...

If you've got no patience whatsoever, just plant some trees, then check them the next day. Pay the farmer and you can go waste time on something else and not bother about visiting your trees until the next day.

That's what I done and I have 31 farming along with ToG.

I personally don't like it currently but once I can grow decent herbs I will probably look into doing that a bit more, Ranarrs for example.

I don't mean to preach or anything...but you're slicing you're own throat by saying that. I mean...it may not be your "style" to train things you don't enjoy or find a use of...but training them makes you a better player.

I look DOWN upon TONS of Level 126 Combat people daily, because, while their combat may be maxed, typically a lot of them have low total level.

In short...if you don't want to train farming for the fact that doing snapdragons/ranarr/kwuam herbs can make you TONS of easy cash...then at least train it because you won't have level 118s looking down to you when you're 126. =-p

Oh...to any future, "Your so vain/self indulgent/an *not nice word*"...you're probably right. But do I care? Probably not.

Why do you bother sitting and waiting there...get some money buy ranarr seeds 20-25k ea and farm until snapdragons and continue farming and herbloring. Get your pinapples from the grand tree market (the pinapples restock in the store each time you close the window) or you can get from taverly charter ship port shop. It's a nice, complicated skill and I like the multi-tasking it takes. I recently made 150k profit from just ONE run of ranarr seeds (Use nature ammy and magic sacateurs). It's very profitable to do in between slayer tasks, alching, and many more skills.

BTW Outsanity I saw you at abberant specters right before you got 85 (on your next task probably). :P

Its fun that thieving or slayer and stuff came, but farming is kinda useless....

Could BE useful for some people who train herblore a lot.

But i have also only herblore 45. Farming is useless.

I've gotten a total of hundreds of herb seeds from Slayer. Around 30 were Snapdragon seeds. Every hour or so I'd replace the 4 herb patches with new seeds, and inbetween I'd do other skills. I now have over 200 Snapdragon to raise Herblore with for basically no effort. I have yet to get over 1000 Toadflax from my Seeds and over 200 Irit.

That's useless? :-k (Lunars own for Farming by the way)

have you ever heard of a magical place called the rants section? its where noobs like you can complain about useless junk that you cant do because you have no patience  , besides, with farming i have a hawt seed collection (useless waste of 4 1/2 bank spaces but i still have it there cuz i sometimes use them....sometimes....)

If you're patient Farming can make you LOTS of cash. Want to know how? Well if I told you it wouldn't be much of a reward in figuring it out for yourself. Trust me, friend of mine made 40M without hardly any work using Farming. Bought himself a nice little Red H'ween Mask. ;)

Personaly I used to hate Farming, just like you. But when I figured out how to turn about 3.5M into 8.4M I was hooked. :)

Values? What do they mean?

Why dont you rephrase that and say "Farming is useless for YOU" and move this to the rants section.

Because people can have their own opinion.

In my opinion...

Well farming is a great moneymaker at a decent level. With all the herbs you can grow out of cheep seeds. Or use the herbs yourself in potions and sell the potions. Got to get through the first levels off course, and those are hard as in all skills, but after that, it's just planting your herbseeds, wait for 2 hours doing other thigns and collect them. Now if that isn't easy money, then what is?

---

Like to add this. If you grow your own seeds you got from slayer tasks.

Say you got 4 snapdragonseeds, you plant them, takes 5 minutes, you continue with slayer. you yield them, and plant new seeds, again takes 5 minutes. 8 herbs on average per seed, 8 * 7k * 4 = 224k. This is no exception, this is what i get on average

i like farming but i get bored of it quick so ya not that hi of a lvl in it but ya

Up until recently I would have sat squarely in the 'I hate farming' camp, however having started farming as a way to complete some quests I found that I am swayed. Upon completion of Royal Trouble I've been using my kingdom to provide all my seedly needs. I don't power train my farming but try to plant a round of trees a day and two to three rounds of herbs a day. These give excellent herblore exp and plenty of cash from pray pots. I am now a farming convert, I may never get the full farming bug but will continue to plug away and level at a nice leisurely pace and use the farming spots like my grandfather uses his garden, for relaxation.

p.s. I would like to have a deckchair, so that my character could really enjoy the farming experience while reading a good book.

A wise man once said "Never drink on an empty stomach and never post with an empty head"

ummmm, i like farming...

though it might take a looong looong time, there are benefits

private trees

ability to grow vast amounts of herbs (ranarr, snapdragon)

make tuna sweetcorn potatoes

grow secondary items for herblore

Doing a little bit of everything

How can you not love the free exp? I just planted a round of bushes (which are my levelling method of choice, as to get to 3 of the patches only requires 1 law), and I'm about to go have a shower, eat, drive home, drive back to Reading, check out a house I'm hoping to live in (moving up the property ladder!), and so on. When I come back my bushes will be grown. Exp for doing abolsutely nothing in game? Hell ya!

Goals to get my skills back up to a barely respectable level on the high scores:

Currently going for Bone to Peaches spell. It's amazing how boring doing the same repetitive task is! Stupid MTA

Farming is one of the msot important skills in runescape. Without it, the herblore skill would be WAY harder to train, since with farming we can grow our OWN HERBS. Then of course you need farming ingredients for several potions. And with high lv farming yuou can grow your OWN YEW OR MAGIC TREE! Nobody else can touch it! Put it near a bank for convenience and get free yews!

Plus, farming is one of the easiest and most fun skill to raise. Plant your seeds, have a farmer watch over it, then go play a minigame or work on a skill or do a quest or earn cash! Then come back later and harvest the fruits of your labor.

tip it would pay me $500.00 to keep my clothes ON :(
But then again, you fail to realize that 101% of the people in this universe hate you. Yes, humankind's hatred against you goes beyond mathematical possibilities.
That tears it. I'm starting an animal rebellion using my mind powers. Those PETA bastards will never see it coming until the porcupines are half way up their asses.

Apparently a lot of people say it. I own.

http://linkagg.com/ Not my site, but a simple, budding site that links often unheard-of websites that are amazing for usefulness and fun.

Do you watch the grass grow irl too?

The first added skill? No. Slayer and RC were added before that.

Some people just like to farm. It helps out herblore alot too, and if you pay the farmers to look after trees, It goes up rather fast with no effort

*cough* Agility came out WAYYYYY before those two.

No, that would be stupid... :uhh:

Farming is actually a good money maker. I had this same mindset until I started growing herbs. Its the perfect herblore companion, and is an easy minimal effort money maker, if you have the slightest idea of what you're doing.

I love farming. Sure, my level isn't ranked. But I still love the skill. All you need is seeds and some type of timer. All you do is plant something, leave and do something, else, harvest, repeat. I guess people are just too lazy to try an easy skill. :s

I like farming quite a bit. You can just plant things and leave. Even if you only do one round a day, the cash and experience gained add up quickly.
