Mr_Adam
I know that videogame to movie adaptations nearly never work, but what are some games you believe should be made into movies? And just assume that you're the director :P I'd like to see Final Fantasy 6 - Epic storyline and great characters, along with a beautiful soundtrack. I think it would work best as 2 films though (Beginning to Apocalypse and Apocalypse to End), and cuts would be necessary (Mog, Umaro, and Gogo for sure, and maybe even Cid, Shadow, and Gau (which still leaves 9 Major Protagonists)). Haven't thought of any actors to fill roles yet.
Dracion1
I am still raging that Bioshock is unlikely to make it to the big screen  "In the beginning, the universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move."
Dizzle229
Bioshock should not get a movie. It has a great story and I don't want Hollywood to chop it down to just a few key scenes. Get back here so I can rub your butt.
Lenticular_J
That's why the script writers and other game designers should get to pick who does the movie (or even do it themselves), not the company who just gives it to the highest bidder. Bioshock could make a great movie. DOOM did somewhat good - if they could make the first-person camera idea better, Bioshock could be mad crazy. catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream
Harakiri
Metal Gear has always seemed cinematic enough to be on the big screen.

meb
Diablo 2 : . Epic hack 'n' slash movie that would be. Also Baldur's Gate. Retired 2146 overall - 136 combat - 6 skillcapes Plus I think the whole teenage girl thing will end soon (hopefully), because my girlfriend is absolutely in love with him(she is 18), and im beginning to feel threatened by his [Justin Bieber] dashing looks. Nenga
None really. Because I have never seen a good movie come from a game. Though about an FF6 movie you can't just take Cid out. Cid has been around since FF4 and if you take him out it's just not FF. Cid has always been there and has always had something to do with your airship. Ponies! sarg1010
Halo only with the Ensemble Studio guys who did the before/after mission movies for Halo Wars Would be PERFECT for a movie! Also Gears of War. Would be EPIC to see that on the big screen. The game itself is practically a movie . And isn't Halo supposed to have a movie come out? Or was that canned? Unfinished netherrack symbol of Khorne. Never forget. ~creeper face w/single tear~ DO YOU HEAR THE VOICES TOO?!?!

I would murder his parents as well for a Metal Gear movie. There is a fan made one coming out for free in September, but it's made by a bunch of Italians with thick accents. I never remember Snake being Italian, but it looks good for a fan made movie.
Nadril
Metal Gear has always seemed cinematic enough to be on the big screen. What? there totally is a Metal Gear movie already. I wouldn't mind a video game adaption of it though. -- For me I don't know if I'd want any video game turned into a movie. The best video games story telling wise couldn't give the same effect as if they were a movie. A Bioshock movie would make the choices you do pointless, so that part of the story would be out. A lot of the more interesting parts would be out as well. Half Life would suck as a movie because it's not a cinematic game, first of all. The best thing about Half Life is that you're the one in the center of it all, a movie would just ruin that because you'd probably get scenes from all different sort of characters. No thank you on video game movie adaptions.

Zierro
None really. Because I have never seen a good movie come from a game. I agree with this. Video games are video games and movies are movies. They each have a different set of criteria so most adaptations are too forced and don't really make much sense or have the same appeal as the game. It's one thing to make a book into a movie, but a game is even worse. Not to say it is impossible to make a good one, but as of yet they all pretty much sucked. Lionheart_0
StarCraft, Oblivion, Fallout, Diablo. P.S. I made this topic before. Starcraft wouldn't work - That kind of game to a movie wouldn't work because besides a few fight scenes it would just be a bunch of political mumbo jumbo. Some mindless action scenes too. It would be just a huge pile of CG stuff. Oblivion/Fallout - No. Too many reason to say why. Diablo - This one could work because there is enough back story that a more current story can be made. Blizzard did well to leave so many openings for this one that a movie would be possible. What I want to see is a Warcraft movie and a brand new Final Fantasy movie that hold up by itself. Blizzard has enough lore for Warcraft that they can do anything they want with it, and it wont just be filled in with CG. Final Fantasy games themselves have always just felt like interactive movies anyway. Sig by IkuraiYour Guide to Posting! Behave or I will send my Moose mounted Beaver launchers at you! BlackDawn
I think a Bioshock movie would be pretty cool, the game was incredible to me, I'd see the movie without hesitation. Blizzard has enough lore for Warcraft that they can do anything they want with it, and it wont just be filled in with CG. You can play through the main story and it is rather boring, grinding some, fighting bosses, and beating the final boss. Then you have the side quests, all the different marks, the hell wyrm, the sky pirates den. Now the real meat of the game lies with the marks. Now in two hours we all know they'd focus on the main story. While fights with the hell wyrm or Yiazmat were the real epic parts about that game. This is one example but all FF games are like this. FFVII: the weapons, FFVIII: Getting all the GF's, FFIX: Ozma, FFX: the monster arena. All side quests although the last fight of FFVIII was about the most epic one. Ponies! The one I'll never see because it's only on [bleep]ing Blu-Ray? But yea, one based on the game itself could work, except most of the game is "go over and get this, watch out for creepy [cabbage]". I'd say screw the film and walk away with my infinite supply of money. I'm just that way. Movies are best left as movies, books are best left and books, and games are best left as games. I'd easily pay $40-$60 to get a remake of my favourite games than pay $10 to see a movie adaptation or $20 to buy the movie. Ponies!
Kiriyama
Some Final Fantasy games can be made into a film. The main plot of FFX for example, that can be condensed into a 2/3 hour film. (because it's what? 90 minutes of cutscenes? I can't remember.) Denizen of Darkness| PSN= sworddude198
Danqazmlp
I don't see why people bash movie versions of games much anymore, the last few i've seen, like the resident evil series, DOOM and silent hill were fairly good movies. Nadril, half life based around freeman would be a bit bad, but if they based it on the other characters, much like the 'Escape from city 17' youtube vid, it could turn out to be pretty good tbh. I wouldn't mind seeing a Duke Nukem film, as long as hey had a big enough budget to not make the enemies look tacky, and hired somebody good to be duke, and could say the lines with enough confidence, it could be a very funny, gory and very 18 film, but still very good.
