Jagex to Lower the Highscore Rank Limit?

Sorry if this thread already exists, or if this is old news. I did search.

I think Jagex is planning to lower the highscore rank limit to 2 million. Currently, you have to rank at least 1 millionth in a skill to be featured in the highscores. If you go to the official RuneScape highscore page, though, (under Community at http://runescape.com/) and Search by Name for a player who is not ranked in any skill, (I used 'Nonexistant.') you will see this message:

"Nonexistant does not feature in the hiscores. You have to be in the top 2 million in a category and reach a skill level of 30 or the minigame's minimum score."

I dont think they should extend it, seems to be un-needed at the moment, make the hi-scores something to aspire to, not something that is easily accheiveable.

My thoughts exactly. Heck, even the top 1 million is nothing, and level 30 is easily under a day's work in any skill (I usually get 60 the first day trying a new skill). What could be harmed by showing ALL the levels?

What in the world for, just about every p2p skill has less than a million people with 30 in them.

Could just be a bug with the new front page.

I think it is a Bug/Glitch. If you search for a 2 Millionth rank it is not there :?

Not all skills are rankable at 30. I think attack, strength and woodcutting will only rank at the mid 60's due to the sheer volume of people training these skills.

This obviously screws up dynamic signatures and use of combat calculators.

I don't see why Jagex have a limit on the high scores, it should rank everyone regardless of level in a skill. The information is obviously there so why not use it?

Maybe it'll be an future update (maybe next month), but they could already have made it 2m in the text lines with the HD update , so they don't have to change that again :roll: .

And who really cares about being inside the high scores?

Well, that would be the lower level players how aren't in it yet :mrgreen: .

So this will be a nice addition for them to come into them, as you need 60+ levels for some stats these days to come into the high scores (which could be hard for a f2p'er)

Level 64 is hardly anything, and these are HIGH Scores. For all I care it should be top 10k at most, even if it does knock a lot of my ranks off.

Expanding the Highscores to 2 million is totally unnecessary.

If they want to do something for those hard-to-get-ranked skills such as Strength or Woodcutting then why not divide the Highscores into F2P and P2P categories?

If an account is 100% F2P it would be listed on the F2P Highscores, and if an account is a current/former member it would be listed on the P2P Highscores.

The P2P Highscores would list all skills present in the game and the F2P Highscores would only list non-members skills.

I believe this could work.

It wont even be a hiscore, 40 attack will probably be included!

what i think they should do is leave it at 1m but make it so you need 50+ in a level to get on

Top 30K would be way better, make a use of *high* scores.

Because to be fair, lvl 30 is a tad weedy.

People saying about the level 64 attack lowest, c'mon, that's really not warranting the name "High Score" is it?

I remember having a screeny of myself as 1 millionth smither, Lost it, I'm unranked at smithing atm. So yes, you can go back to being unranked.

Only some skills would need it, really.

1m is enough for a highscore, I think. Maybe if they showed all levels on it, even unranked ones, it'd be good.

Probably a typo anyway. The '1' key is pretty close to the '2'...

So much for getting Strength unranked if they do though...

I think It was a bug. Just think about it. The top 2 million? That would include basically everybody except for maybe combat skills, because you have to be like level 60 to rank in combat. :thumbsup:

To be honest I think everyone that has a Level 30 should be on the highscores for that skill and then you can really see what rank you are in the game for like Strength etc and the way thinks are going you're going to need a ridiculous Strength Level soon to get onto those highscores.

The only downside is that I was really happy when I get all my skills onto the highscores but if this happens it will no longer be an achievment.

Last time they increased them the requirements to get on were a LOT lower than they are now.

Also, yes it would for a short while become incredibly easy to get on the hiscores, but after a few days it would get a lot harder, and fast...

Also, 974 total level is quite high for free to play...

To be honest I believe that the hiscores expansion is overdue and hope this means that there will be one soon. (Even if it does mean my strength and attack becoming ranked).

the fact that all of the millions of accounts that only have level 1 of everything would be on the highscores for no reason. you know, the accounts that people make just to have the name. there is no reason to have them on the highscores. i think they should just lower the level 30 limit to 10 or 15, that way more people could see all their stats. or maby if you reach the highscores in a couple of skills, then it could show all of your skills.

I agree with the people saying it should show all of our skills, no matter what rank.

Somewere it was suggested to have a seperate 'lookup' which didn't sa your rank but had everybodies skills at whatever level on, and then have a top 30k highscore which obviously shows rank etc as a real highscore, because most people i know use highscores as a lookup more than a score.

yeah, I'm goddamn lv 82, unranked in att and def :)

So because I wanted to keep att and def low, I have to manually enter the xp in calcs if I want to use it..

anyway, this will ruin my next goal (after 99 str) all f2p stats on highscores >.<

overall.. that would be quite nice.. I'd make it 40+ in a skill -> highscores.

2 weeks or more since last login (...they have it already, it says "You were last logged in x days ago from xxx.xxx.xxx"..) and you'd be (temporarily) taken off highscores - this would also make that many people would get ranked on highscores within 1mill. since I bet there's lots of people who quit/aren't playing at the moment who's ranked. and you'd get on asap you log in again :)
