Post discussion about the update here.

17 July 2006 - Pyramid Plunder

Isn't it frustrating when tomb raiders keep stealing your treasure and smashing up all your urns? No? Well, if you were a thousand year old mummy charged with looking after a tomb, you'd be frustrated. Believe us. In fact, there is one Mummy in Sophanem who became so angered by the pesky thieves that he adapted part of his tomb to cater for them. If he can keep them busy, then maybe they will leave him and the King's treasures alone!

In this thieving minigame, players have a limited time to pick through tombs, sarcophagi and urns, dodging venomous asps, scarabs and even a few mummies. Confident thieves can try to find their way to the higher floors where the rewards and risks are greater... The particularly light-fingered may also find the King's sceptre - this regal item will aid the frequent pyramid visitor in their travels.

To start this game, make your way to Sophanem, and investigate the northern pyramid. Tarik will tell you some of the mysteries of the pyramid if you wish to prepare for dangers within. Then you will have to solve the Mummy's first small puzzle: which of the mysterious doors marks the way in?

FORUM DISCUSSION SUMMARY SO FAR:

Simon Templeton at Agility Pyramid buys artifacts at fixed prices for each type, ranging from 50 to 1250.

The sceptre can teleport you to any of the three pyramids: this one, the Agility pyramid, or the Ancient Magicks pyramid. Crewbies kwimbob and abomb67 report that the sceptre is tradeable. Any level Thief can get the sceptre; supposedly the odds are better for higher level thieves, but at least one 90+ has posted that he hasn't gotten one yet. ;)

Consensus so far among players is that the treasure isn't all that great, the opinions on the sceptre are mixed (since some people can already get close to Ancient Magicks pyramid via Camulet), and the Thieving xp is pretty good - 3 to 5 times faster than thieving Master Farmers.

Players report there seems to be a "bug" that sometimes makes all four doors dead ends. joecool280 reports that this only happens if you haven't looted all of the items in the room before you try the door?

Our website guide still needs xp data for the two highest levels (7, and 8: for urns, sarcophagi and chests) - does anyone have the info?

Jagex Knowledge Base article is here:

http://kbase.runescape.com/lang/en/aff/ ... le_id=2701

Here are the highlights (copyright Jagex, presented here for informational purposes only):

o "'Dangerous' minigame. If you die during this minigame, you will lose your items."

o "located in Sophanem, you must have started Icthlarin's Little Helper to gain access"

o "Thieving level of 21 to enter"

o "to enter the second treasure chamber you will need 31 Thieving, the third chamber require 41 Thieving, and so on. The eigth chamber requires a Thieving level of 91 to enter."

o "take some food and an antipoison potion", "lockpick will also prove useful"

o "The pyramid has four doors - one on each side - but only one of these is authentic. You will know when you have found the true entrance when you see the Guardian Mummy standing in the centre of the chamber."

o "The game lasts for five minutes, during which time you can search any of the urns, chests and sarcophagi that are scattered throughout the chambers."

o "Before you set about looting each treasure room, though, you will need to deactivate a trap."

o "The lower your thieving level, the more likely you are to trigger a trap or release a creature."

o "Sometimes you will wake a mummy resting in a sarcophagus. These are high level monsters and can do a great deal of damage to lower level players."

o "you may set about picking the locks on the four doors in the treasure room. Only one of these doors leads to the next chamber, the others are dead ends."

o "can then make your way to Simon Templeton at the Agility Pyramid to sell your treasures."

o "jewelled golden sceptre"

o "transport the bearer to any of the three great pyramids: Jalsavrah, Jaleustrophos and Jaldraocht."

o "The sceptre only holds three charges, but you can recharge it by giving the Guardian Mummy a number of artefacts from within the pyramid. You will need 24 pottery or ivory artefacts, 12 stone artefacts or 6 gold artefacts to recharge the sceptre."

it's a lot easier to get over yourself when you look at intelligence the same way you look at beauty, or height, or eye color: being smart is easy, but being good is hard ... being smart is handed to you, being good is handed to *nobody*.

I went there, did a few trips.

You can get about 5k XP per trip and you can do a trip in < 5 minutes.

Inv: 2 Anti poison pots, coins, glory ammy, lockpick and about 5 pieces of food.

Find the door to enter the pyramid and speak to the mummy to start the game. Once you're in deactive the spear things (Click pass) then search the chest, you'll probably get a stone piece. Then search the four doors around the outside and go the next level. (THE DOORS ARE ALWAYS THE SAME, SO REMEMBER WHERE IT IS). Repeat this until you get to the max floor (For me It's 6) the once you're there, Search ALL urns first, not the coffin or chest, Don't bother looking for snakes, just search the urns. Drop everything below stone. After you've searched all the urns, search the chest then the sarcoughacus (I can't spell :P) After that, go out the white door. And you're done.

Go to out of the gate, then run east to the Agility Pyramid and sell him your loot. Then head back and repeat.

With that inventory you should be able to do 2/3 trips per inventory, maybe more if you bring more anti poisons.

That's what you're looking to get per trip, I still had about 30 seconds or so lleft when I had all of that. That's more than enough stone items to recharge the sceptre (If you're lucky enough to get one) and that inventory got me about 6k.

i got 2 lvls there, awsomely fast exp, i got an average of 3.75k exp per trip with about 30seconds after each round left over.

In comparison, i had about 1k exp to go till 58 theiving, it took me 6 minutes at master farmers to get 1k exp, so use it while you can
