Askthedude Posted October 25, 2009 Share Posted October 25, 2009 I found myself a little let down by the first two articles, nothing seemed to grab my attention like in previous articles and I found myself skipping paragraphs after the 1st two lines... :? And before the flames come rolling in I know writing about something that hasn't been written about before is a difficult task so kudos for finding something. Why can't the Big Bang be done by the hand of God?It could have, but it is next to impossible because it also could have been caused by the flying spaghetti monster, or one of the other infinite number of deity possibilities. I thought I was due next week, which completely put the rest of the staff in a terrible spot and left them to work around it. ...and not a beat was missed! Best way to do that is go to a country that speaks it for a while, but Runescape has a similar effect. I thought the first two articles were good, if a tad boring. We just have ether quit, canceled membership, or deluded ourselves into believing Jagex will open there eyes and reverse things like personal shops, the exclusion of extreme pots in pvp, the icons, and so and so. Article 2: Yeah, people rant a lot about updates, especially on the RSOF. Some people (if not all) have the right to be a bit upset about updates sometimes, but completely ignoring the fact that there are people who spend hours upon hours working on these updates is quite sad. Article 3: I have to admit, I'm not a fiction fan. I might read this a bit later on though :) Overall, some very nice articles. keep them coming! However, experience would seem to indicate that "most people" is a misnomer at the very least. Jagex isn't suffering terribly as the result of any particular group of disgruntled individuals; it's steeled them to attempt a big PR campaign (that has some actual, tangible results) and, don't forget ... there's always a new crop of 13-year olds (12, 11, etc.) to start playing, so the financial bottom line won't be impacted substantially. IOW, if they can keep, say, even a third of current players for a long term (say, 24 months), continue adding "up and coming" youngsters, they can keep up a certain level of participation. I'd estimate that they keep a significant percentage of players for multiple years. As for the ones who create an account and then quit, they're just a few molecules of magnetized particles on a hard disk somewhere near Jagex HQ; and hard disks are pretty cheap.
