The max hit of ice barrage is 30, so you can "eat through" most of the spells easily using sharks and ko the mage with dds during the cooldown time of the freezing effect. But the max hit of mage is 50, and almost always hits. Your slash defence is over 250, so the dd++ probably won't land much, and you can freeze and continue to hit, healing from the hits so you barely have to eat. But the player could just take off his armor- most melee armor does not aid your damage output. Suddenly, his magic defenses are no longer in the negatives. Heck, if he's wielding a dagger and has the Helm of Neitiznot, he'll have a positive magic defense of like two or three. That's possibly the worst piece of advice ever given to a melee player, and one that many people follow. First of all, with a 0 mage defence, he's still virtually defenseless. 2nd of all, you can equip a dagger and spec him to kingdom come. I've done that countless times, once for a 38-37 KO. His magic and melee defences are 0. Your melee defence is +250, with a large magic bonus AND melee weapon. Guess who wins. But if we're talking pure combat, the mage won't have a dagger. If we want to fight with hybrids, then you'll see guys with torag's plate, black dragon legs and vambraces(with [bleep]es for added strength), an AGS, and a DDS for the starting gambit. With protect item, he won't lose his most valuable piece. However, mages can not really afford to hybrid. Since all other armor types greatly reduce accuracy and potency, they have to cast with full mage robes.
  2. Fun game, but it feels... hollow. The reason, I think, is that the rewards, quite frankly, are abysmal. And not like the whip. The armors are the equivalent of the F2P tops and Mystics. The tools appear to be glitchy and the pick axe appears to mine at the rate of the lowest level. Even if the hatchet cuts at the rate of a rune axe, we already have dragon, though it is an expensive alternative. Aside from this, without getting any experience for gathering and crafting, it truly feels like I'm wasting my time. And because of this, I find it hard to fathom why Jagex would give combat experience. Heck, they called this a game for skillers AND killers, but in many games it's the fighters who truly dominate. The third problem is that Jagex seems a little out of touch with their player base. They seem to forget that the majority of players with high combat levels also have high skill totals. So, instead of the symbiotic relationship they imagined, we have self sufficient fighters capable of doing everything and skillers who make easy targets while their services prove unnecessary. I predict that Jagex is going to tweak this game in the next couple of weeks with bug fixes, better rewards, some experience for skilling, and more regularity of resources, i.e. there is always going to be at least one of every resource on the map. P.S. What happened to shields? They'd bring benefit to mages and melee'ers. Plus, they could add crossbows along with it, allowing a bit more flexibility for rangers.
  3. Tbh, the only good rewards are the xp-boosting gear MAYBE. One game my team had a kiln, three different lvl 4 rescources, and an altar barricaded. Basically do that then make the arrows/runes, then use a familiar to deposit at the end. The only other maybe worthwhile gear are the robes. Same defense level as mystic armor, for no cost but useless points. For those without the patience for infinity robes or the cash for ahrim's. Course, mystic is just as easy to get as rune...
  4. It may be different outside the U.S., but here St. Patrick's day isn't religious anymore. It's just an excuse to wear green and get drunk. And to pinch/slap/punch people who don't. I still have a black eye from last saint patricks day. Well, yeah, but there are still a lot of people who take the holiday seriously, no matter where you live. Another difference between Patrick and Valentine is that one has a more universal theme than the other. Aye, this is true; more people get drunk and fight than fall in love. It's obvious which holiday will be picked.

But the armor IS tradeable... Fair enough, it's tradeable before it's used. But defenders aren't, and are quite a bit less common then scepters. But defenders are VERY useful. The scepter's benefits are minimal- all it really offers is a limited number of free teleports to Barbarian Village. Considering that Edgeville, with the Glory Amulet teleport, is to the North and Varrock to the East, the things should be a semi-frequent drop.
  7. Y'know, it really annoys me when people make sweeping derogatory statements against Jagex that don't even make sense (them having no common sense, or caring more about money then customers) as a 'reply' to a rant. Fools? I think not, given the very good accuracy and number of reports that come in. The OP obviously broke a rule, and was duly punished for it. That would make Jagex smart, considering the tiny number of staff vs. number of reports being sent in. But even a broken clock is right twice a day. In other words, given Jagex's tendency to punish people for offenses they did not commit, or for things that are in no way against the rules as outlined on the Runescape website, like mentioning "Youtube" or "Google", then of course they're going to catch the vast majority of rule breakers.

Another factor, if you have wireless, could be overhead cover. Some of our trees grew over our roof and messed up our service's connectivity.

    But the armor IS tradeable...
  10. Maybe Jagex wanted to make PKing slightly more profitable and made a mistake?

But for something that degrades and is non-trade able, the staff has a very low drop rate. This is quite frustrating for some.
  12. In all honesty, I'm not excited. This sort of thing, with the fewer updates, just takes up valuable release slots. Heck, if it's smaller than the other holidays, the items gotten will be even LESS useful.
  13. All I can say is that this is one of the many flaws of the Runescape combat system and will probably never be fixed. The games just to advanced to change something this fundamental.
  14. Actually, you can say hell. Probably cause it's a place and the game has hellhounds in it.
  15. Edit: Never gotten the quiz. Thought you were talking about the MoM's box- hurray for misunderstanding!
  16. Another thing that seems to have been overlooked are runes. For one thing, at least initially, they were worth far more than the ammunition for rangers. Plus, they're always consumed. But the real kick in the pants for runes is that they take up a minimum of one inventory space, if you cast air strike spells with an air staff. Two to three spaces is the norm for inventory usage, however. So this means that any mage will have, at least, one less piece of food or potion than a warrior or ranger.
  17. Really? Cause Iv been using dragon scimitar all day. Low level members/poorer people use the dragon weapons alot, you cant say for a second that they arnt used. Removing quest? Yeah, lets remove Heros quest, Regicide and Lost City. That means Crystal bows go too because no Roving Elves as there is no Regicide. Gotta take legends out too, that requires Heros. Hell, lets remove the quests for herblore. More herblorists means more potions. Damn, why not all quests in the game! No one should have to prove themselves to wear good weapons or armor. Maybe he meant Jagex could remove the quest requirements to wield dragon weapons? So, even if you have yet to complete the quest, you can purchase the weapon from those who have and use it, creating a little niche market.
  18. But what about when one of those uber players quits as they eventually will? Suddenly, the items they brought into the game are no longer coming. This scenario would NOT work, cool though it sounds.
  19. Your one of those 'glass half empty' people. For us optimists, ie. 'glass half full', we would like to dream about being able to go back to our starting ground as far more powerful and capable people in order to stop some catastrophie. It would be suiting that the most epic quest in the game be in teh same place most all of us started from (excepting those form teh lumbridge tutorial and those from before tut island). Heck, I'm a pessimist and I love the speculations. Helps keep me entertained while I mine thousands of pieces of gold ore.
  20. But don't some ask for stuff anyway?
  21. No, no, this is a good topic. It discusses not whether the banners mean a specific is in the pipe, but whether the banners actually mean anything at all. As with any thread over a currently popular subject, you'll get people who just don't want to see anymore and will (rudely) say so. I don't want to see anymore because it is already being discussed in other topics which are still alive. Every topic about a Dragon Platebody which is not the original is locked instantly because there are so many. All the topics that say about the Sailing Cape are instantly locked, and all the topics about Day/Night are locked except the original. So why should a topic that just says about all three stay up? There is nothing new here. Quick question: Is this about the Sailing Cape, Dragon Platebody, or Day/Night? No?!? Why, then it IS original! This thread is discussing whether Jagex's banners really are teasers or whether they just release them for the cool appearance.

  23. Well, in my opinion, these banners are nothing more than Jagex's attempt to fish for good ideas from their player base or watch us speculate wildly while laughing their collective bum off. I mean, for another example, look at that old Castle Wars wallpaper, released right before Catapult Construction- people thought we'd be able to wear helms in the game after completing it, because several characters were wearing helms and the quest was, in the BTS, said to update C Wars. Another theory is that the artists that Jagex hires actually have little to no clue as to how the game works and draw what they think looks nice within Jagex's criteria.
  24. No-oo... 4chan is uncensored, correct? If the RSOF is THIS bad hugely censored with mods who sometimes care, imagine it without either!
  25. Ugh... tired of waiting for an update. So far, I am NOT liking this new update schedule. Oh, and I'm getting a little tired of new minigames.
