October 17, 200817 yr EDIT: Someone pointed out that dragon items would require change in quests, which is a very good point. I decided that a whole new weapon class, somewhere between level 45 and 55 to wield, better than rune, worse than dragon... When a mod reads this post, he'll move it to rants, where it will receive no attention, and die out like all the other posts in the rants section. After thinking about it, this would give runescape f2p lasting effect. Jagex is trying to make money, thus making something free that has lasting effect wouldn't be very beneficial for the company. So I offer another suggestion: Special worlds that are available to members, and former members who gain enough credit. Runescape is a game that requires a lot of time. As you get older, you have less time to spend on the game, which is why I quit in the first place(Not to mention BS restrictions that have been added). I would like to come back to it and play around on it every one in a while...but f2p is boring. It has no come-back effect. I would much rather play halo or COD4 when i'm bored, then come back to a game that has no potential. But this is hard for me because I've invested $300 in membership fee's into my account. 4 years ago, if anyone ever suggested dragon weapons on f2p, they would get the whole "members pay for it, members deserve it"...and I would have agreed...but times have changed, and so should this argument. I believe f2p should now be able to use dragon weapons w/ specials and this is why: Pking on f2p has been ruined ever since the change from rsc to rs2. In single combat, in order to get kills, both players must agree to only eat when falling below the KO limit(for instance, at my level, I must only eat when my hp falls below 29)...There is very little risk of dying, very little risk of getting any loot, so all you really do is waste lobsters...yippee, not cool. A couple years ago, Dragon weapons were the main weapon of choice for members...not the case anymore. The only one used is the DDS, and the only reason it's used is for KO's. The scimitar is used for strength training, but not often. The longsword has become obsolete on p2p, the battle ax is used for it's special when training if you don't have enough money to afford super sets(honestly, most p2p do), the spear has been a joke since release as well as the 2h. The mace is rarely used. In conclusion, if you give dragon weapons to f2p, you making pking on f2p much more profitable/risky as well not harming p2p because of all the items that have been introduced since dragon weapons(whips, god weapons, barrows...etc). Note: I do not think f2p deserves dragon armor...although it is just as obsolete, it kind of cancels out the KO argument. There is more to elaborate on this, please don't just go and flame. Support your statements with valid arguments. I will try to reply to my feedback on any points anyone makes. Optional reading below this point: (Keep in mind, I no longer play runescape, and I have only been on recently to try out the new update...which I think is over-rated, but yes more enjoyable then it has been(nothing compares to the old days of RSC pking). I could care less what happens in the game, and I know dragon will probably not be introduced on f2p at least for the next couple years....but I just think with all these changes Jagex made, it makes no sense to not be able to adapt in other ways) I also want to note that Jagex regulates runescape to much to be enjoyed anymore. People have to wait forever to get lobsters today because of Jagex's new system. Rares are no longer traded because of Jagex's new system. I want to decide what I pay for an item and don't want that number to be capped. If I want to buy lobsters for 400 each, I should be allowed...but no, this would bring back rwt...like the game was soooo terrible with it anyway. The only way it bothered me was if I wanted to train where autoers were training...which honestly wasn't hard to adapt to. I wish I would have quit runescape after the release of rs2, and saved a lot of time in my life. I had fun with the game all the way up to the rwt updates...then no longer is it fun anymore. Games should be like they used to be. I don't play Super Mario 3 anymore, but if I wanted to hook up my old NES and play it, I would still have fun. I don't play runescape anymore, but if I decide to log on to have some fun, i'm met with restrictions, a whole different style of gameplay. It's a completely new game. O well, deal with change.
October 17, 200817 yr I agree that f2p deserve better weapons. However weapons on par with dragon weapons w/ specs is too much.
October 17, 200817 yr That means the 'Heroes quest' and 'Lost City' quests will have to be f2p. f2pking owns as it is. theres no need for drag weaps.
October 17, 200817 yr Ftp is a glorified demo. But yes, the ko potential in ftp is fairly low at high levels. Maybe something less than dragon.
October 17, 200817 yr Rants section? I would go as far to say dragon is obselete in P2P, its nowhere near as effective as other alternatives. October 17, 200817 yr I don't think that dragon armour should be incorporated anymore than what the Corrupt Dragon Armour & Weapons have done. I am not going to say becasue P2P pay, it is a very valid point but overall it doesn't really satisfy anyone. That means the 'Heroes quest' and 'Lost City' quests will have to be f2p. f2pking owns as it is. theres no need for drag weaps. This is a very good point that you already addressed. People tend to think that members don't use Dragon Weapons.... how come if i put one for sell it will sell with in minutes? The dragon long sword was the reason I became members. People tend to think of members as the high level players only. There is a huge diversity in Mem worlds. Go to hill giants and tell me the dragon longs are not used. Claws, hallys, spears are their to support lower level members. It is a faster way to train and provides benefits. On the other hand, when on slay task I personally carry the mace. ;) Slayer helm plus pots make for insane hits. ;) RIP MichaelangelopolousThanks to cowboy14 for the pimp sig!
October 17, 200817 yr Dragon weapons? Nah. Next please. I much rather they make some weapons like spears and (higher level) crossbows to be available to F2P. Dragon weapons are still used in some shape or form in P2P, but not the P2P only rune weapons. And maybe have Rune Claws as the only special, that sort of thing. Dragon for me is the symbolic line between pay and not paying. Templar GuardiansWhen are trying to lend something, the word to use is borrow. Not barrows, which is a mini-game.
October 17, 200817 yr They could always have a money sink on the corrupt weapons. After the weapon or whatever degrades to 0 making it useless you have X amount of minutes to pay X GP to fix it back to full strength or it disappears. The cost to repair could be linked to the lootshare style of system where you could pay with items and they get put on GE or removed from game. This would mean that to pay the upkeep of better weapons to PVP that PVPers would be continually fighting which is what is wanted isn't it?
October 17, 200817 yr I think ftp should have the corrupted dragon thats half hte stats of regular dragon armour, and degrades but can be repaired by bob the axe guy just like barrows. As for actuall dragon, no. One of the big things for me to pay for members was to use dragon weapons, more importantly the dragon longsword! Didn't even know bout the dragn dagger and its variants untill later in my rs "career" but thats a different story for a different time. What about granite ? I believe this needs 50 def to wear, which is right in the middle between Rune and Dragon. And Granite Maul has a spec  I don't know which mod did this. I don't know why they did it. If they're looking for money, I can tell them I don't have any as I'm a student. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills; skills I have acquired over 4 years of RuneScape. Skills that I have worked hard for and people like them can't take them away. If they give me my particles back now, that'll be the end of it. I will not look for them, I will not pursue them. But if they don't, I will look for them, I will find them, and they won't like what'll happen
October 17, 200817 yr I kind of agree that crossbows and bolts should be more widely available to free to play players. With regards to dragon weapons, I think that an intermediate set may be made with a set of new quests. Clearly, with up to rune, Jagex are only enticing those who can buy membership. Of course, not everyone can buy it (think over this statement carefully). Jagex has concentrated too much of its marketing in western areas such that Asian players have little options of obtaining membership. Maybe dragon weapons do not need to be implemented, but at the same time for a "demo", you should be allowed to try as many things open to members as possible that is unique and different to really want you to get it. I, personally, think that F2p isn't a demo, but a game in itself, as there is absolutely NOTHING in F2P that reminds me of being a member. deviantArt | A book without a cover | My poems | My SigsI'm an artist of words.
October 17, 200817 yr tbh you get what you pay for....oh wait f2p is free #-o don't like the weapon choice, pay membership, f2p is only a trail version of full runescape anyway =D> and besides f2p melee is already over-powered, what next, ancients for f2p? rune c'bows with enchanted bolts for f2p? when the magers/rangers complain You only live twice. Once when you are born and once when you look death in the face. Do not fear Death. Death is always at our side. When we show fear, it jumps at us faster than light. But, if we do not show fear, it casts its eye upon us gently and then guides us into infinity...
October 17, 200817 yr The problem is that f2p warriors have always been overpowered. Mage robes and even the new ones from that minigame are pathetic in defence. Bind is no big use either unless you're in a clan where everyone else does the killing for you. And even then, you don't usually get a share of the loot. And as players level up, they only get stronger. Rangers hit very hard and often with 80+ range and the same with warriors. Mages? Their max hit doesn't go up, you might see a tiny increase in accuracy but not good enough unless you level 20 or 30 levels. Even then, their robes of little defence from attacks make them easy targets. The fact that warriors now get stronger weapons just means mages like me have more to fend off. [hide=]tip it would pay me $500.00 to keep my clothes ON :( :lol:But then again, you fail to realize that 101% of the people in this universe hate you. October 17, 200817 yr No, dragon and specs shouldn't be in f2p as permanent weapons (IE: Not crumbling like the corrupt version). There wouldn't be a combat triangle in f2p, it'd be a combat wall, with range and mage bouncing off. I could care less what happens in the game, Then stop posting on a fansite. And as for the december updates and restrictions: Get a clue.
October 17, 200817 yr Haha how about we give you claws? Or maybe spears? Thanks to all those who have messaged me concerning a revamp of my Range-Slayer guide. Because of you all I will start rewriting it asap.[/color] Formerly RobinHoodie.
October 17, 200817 yr Haha how about we give you claws? Or maybe spears? they'd still complain   and dragon claws sound fun :? p2p deserves them! : You only live twice. Once when you are born and once when you look death in the face. Do not fear Death. Death is always at our side. When we show fear, it jumps at us faster than light. But, if we do not show fear, it casts its eye upon us gently and then guides us into infinity...
October 17, 200817 yr Author Haha how about we give you claws? Or maybe spears? I hate the attitude of this "we" [cabbage]....I have been paying for members probably years before you even heard of runescape...so don't act like you're superior to me...as for any mods, you can just close this post...it was a idea that required more though(thats how good ideas are made, isn't it?) Some benefits of the post: Many people suggested repairing corrupt dragon items...I think this is a good idea, as the item is rare to get...making a rare item that continually disappears just makes a rare item more rare.
October 17, 200817 yr I disagree with sharing perm. dragon items with F2P and allowing them to repair corrupt items for 2 reasons. 1) Dragon items will be, and will always be p2p only. Corrupt dragon items are not really "dragon items", as they only share the name, design, and some of the stats. The thing that makes dragon items unique is specials, which corrupt dragon items don't have, respectfully. Think of these new corrupt items as barrows items for f2p. However to balance the power they have over the F2P community, they vanish after a short use. This is a good thing (see argument below on point #2). 2) All the new items (Corrupt and new P2P armor/weapons) were designed for 1 purpose. PVP combat. The reason they are not repairable is to prevent people from using them to train on NPC's with. These are NOT training weapons, and Jagex took steps to make sure they wont be used for training to keep things balanced. This is why they vanish, and why they will not be changed. Also, these weapons are twice as powerful as current F2P weapons. Making them repairable would only raise the playingfield for everyone, which dosent make sense for F2P. Why allow them to hit 30+ a majority of the time with little risk, when the higest healing food on F2P is 16. There has to be some sort of limit on it to keep them out of control, which Jagex added as a depletion timer. I hate to say it, but F2P will always get the short end of the stick when it comes to updates, simply because, Jagex wants people to become members and not stay F2P. Why is the KO potential low on F2P? Because if it was high on F2P, why pay members to PK? Jagex is a company, and not a public service, so its clear they would want to turn as many people as possible to members, respectfully. Giving F2P just a short taste of what members are capeable of, is one way of doing this. So no, I dont think anything needs to be changed, or will be changed from how it currently is. Degrading weapons are a high cost/risk weapon that gives you a higher chance to ko your opponent. NOT designed just for general use. Its PVP only, along with all the new items that came out.
October 17, 200817 yr 1) Dragon items will be, and will always be p2p only. Corrupt dragon items are not really "dragon items", as they only share the name, design, and some of the stats. The thing that makes dragon items unique is specials, which corrupt dragon items don't have, respectfully. Corrupt Dragon items do have the same specials, but they're only usable in members. Small correction, but you hit the nail on the head with everything else.
October 17, 200817 yr Jive, four years ago YOU were the one saying that f2p never deserved these updates. I can agree on making the items last longer, but let's face facts. Jagex never should have introduced the corrupted armor or new PvP items for F2P in the first place. Combat would have been fine the way it was without these and without opening a can of worms. "Give an inch, demand a mile" is the niche of the day. My heart is broken by the terrible loss I have sustained in my old friends and companions and my poor soldiers. October 17, 200817 yr Author I agree, I would have...and after all these arguments, I still do. I realize the idea came from myself being pissed that I could no longer enjoy a game that I spent so much time on without paying $5 a month on it... No more, there is nothing exciting for f2p, and I don't have enough time to play p2p....if I want to have fun for now on, i'm gonna do the "noob" thing, whip out my scimmy...and 1 item for enjoyment...honestly, it's the only thing thats fun. BTW, I would gladly be buying massive runesets and letting the cash all goto waste if I never would have gave my cash away just before the rwt updates....and no longer can I receive anything from my friends because of the restrictions....sad really. All in all, I think Jagex took a great game and turned it into a game with all sorts of limitations...but maybe i'm just bitter
October 17, 200817 yr Hey, for those 45-55 weapons... how about granite? DOI!!! Anyway you dont feel like paying for members so stop complaining
October 17, 200817 yr the corrupt weapons are fine no need for the real things in f2pCorrupt weapons degrade to quickly to be of much (if any) use.
