  1. I have never tried these online surveys because I'm one of those close-minded people who think that everything you can get on the internet comes with a catch. I just don't think I want to risk all my computer data and possibly my parent's credit cards and my email account and everything else I put into the site just for ~$60 a year. I'm rather stupid when it comes to identifying scams, I consider myself very likely to fall for one of their traps. The closest thing I come to online surveys for money is doing those JCPenny surveys for a 15% discount on your next purchase. It takes 5 minutes, its totally legit because it's a well-known merchandise company, and the savings really accumulate over time. Plus there's no downloading or giving of information or obligation for future surveys if you don't want to (there's an option but I don't do them), and the coupon gets printed out from your printer rather than sent to you.
  2. Omg. I thought I was pro with my 7 kittens... thanks a lot dude. You destroyed my self-esteem as a cat-breeder. thanks a lot.
  3. I'm aware that this is just an introduction and that (hopefully) more attracting things about tipit are written in the future, but I still think that a few more things could have been added. I mean, a lot of the stuff written was personal things about Siobhana and not so much about the fansite itself, and RV did the opposite by describing the site's features. We could have at least said we were the 1st runescape fansite created and taken the win on that one because all RV could say was they were "one of the oldest" fansites around.
  4. Honestly, threads like these will never solve anything and come up way too frequently. All forums have problems like these and sure, tipit has its share of idiots like every other site in existence. We'll never get rid of them, and as runescape continues to expand and fansites like us continue to get discovered by new players, we will have a constant flow of newcomers (which is good for the site) and in that flow there will be a few bad apples. Get over it, don't lose sleep because of it. This is where the mods come in. Their job is to worry about the stupids of tif. Your job is to not get in their way and keep up a good morale and reputation of the siter and contribute to the community. Threads like these that point out what's blatantly obvious to everyone who's been here for more than a few months don't do anything to solve the problem. And why is it that so many people think that they're tipit veterans because they've seen some spam in their short time and thus believe they've seen the golden age of tipit declining? It irks me to no end.
  5. Whose to say you can't do both? Good luck playing both at the same time. I think he means he would rather spend his time levelling his Runescape character than use it on a new mechscape character. I might just try it at it's release just to see how it is, then go back to Runescape. I'm not gonna be one of those people who instantly buy membership for Mechscape (if it's available, which it probably will be) and no-life to be the first to reach high levels in the game within a week of it's release. But I'll make sure to take plenty of screenies, note the top initial players and stuff for future reference when the game is 5 years old and people start to look back.
  6. Is this from your own experience? Probably, seeing as the screen name in the screenie chatbox is the same as his RSN...
  7. OP, believe me, you were not the first to try to log out in BH. There have been way more obscure glitches in the past that someone managed to discover. I think one of the few glitches that wasn't mass abused was where the corp beast could be lured into certain corners with pvp armor and rendered harmless and could be easily duo'd. Only the rich people tried it, because they could afford the pvp armor and risk it at a place like the corp. But even then, the bug still was abused by many. I think someone should start keeping a log of every major bug that is discovered and abused in runescape. It would be an interesting read and would perhaps give people the message that Jagex DOES NOT tolerate bug abusers. Now with their in-depth logs, gigantic 24/7 staff, and no-cheating attitude, mass bans are common in every bug abusing incident.
  8. Customizable armor would be incredibly hard to manage. For a good month after such a release, there would be graphical glitches everywhere when certain custom armors and other random armors don't work well together, and I'm sure there are plenty of other things that would need to be worked out like use in treasure trail emote clues, glitches that caused bizarre events, etc. And besides, there is already an incredibly wide range of armors available in runescape. It's very easy to put a few different armor pieces together and create a new, unique outfit. As for using customizability (is that a word?) in combat with high level gear, well... I think you need to get your priorities straight. When fighting a boss in a life-threatening situation with your teammates, the last thing that should concern you is how you look.
  9. I saw the swiftswitch riot, pest control riot, and bounty hunter riots. I was one of those clowns who decided to go to a corner of the riot area and started screaming "save the whales!!!!". Before you know it the pest control riot was filled up with "save the whales" spam for a few minutes until people realized that the riot was going offtopic and they went back to threatening to quit if pest control was un-nerfed.
  10. QFT. Might as well contribute while I'm here anyways. Trapical's 10 days 10 threads series was perhaps the most well-written series of writings I've ever found on the Internet. And, on a completely different note from serious moral discussions, who could forget the thread on testicular torsion? The thread started as a serious medical discussion and within a few posts, an odd discussion about playing games with fake testicles began to arise until people were telling stories about their genitals and making puns about the OP's medical issue. The most immature thing I've ever seen but it made me giggle. The [wagon] hair one was amusing, ever caught them was flat out stupid, and the picture thread offered me my daily dose of lols. And the most recent one that belongs on the top of the OT fridge was the one about glass-eating that turned into a depressing yet mildly amusing OT meme.
  11. I'm glad about the gravestone/connection change. Once at waterfiends I was being stupid and tried to kill ony last one at 15hp and no food. I died trying to leave via escape log, and got disconnected right after. Needless to say I panicked, sprinted to my grave and managed to get my stuff back in time. But that was an insanely close call.
  12. I love how you take it so light-heartedly. You got guts man. The future of several major clans can rest on these bans. If it was my clan I'd be crapping bricks right about now. I'm even nervous for a few of my friends who are always members who f2p pk who might have abused the glitch. I'll ask em later. What still confuses me is what exactly the bug did. It allowed for easy dp? Or am I missing something?
  13. Damn you!!!!
  14. What cc do you use for corp hunting? or is it a clan event?
  15. Ugh, I was hoping threads like these would never infect OT. Anyway, some meme's are pretty funny, while others are epicly stupid. Motifakes/demotives, although they're not totally meme's, are perhaps the funniest things you can find on the internet when they're done right like some of the ones posted above. But the other ones where they repeat what's blatantly obvious in the picture? Just another useless addition to the meme pile. The Game is a fun meme (I just lost btw) and one of the few that have infected real life as well as the internet. In my high school at least half our freshman class plays the game, and chaos ensues every biology class when one person states they lost the game. Mind[bleep]s are humorous and occasionally terrifying. Barrel rolls and "all your bases are belong to us" are moderately funny. Courage wolf and occasionally advice dog actually makes me laugh. Then there are the stupid memes. Mudkipz, over 9000, etc. They're the kind of memes that are just spouted randomly with no intelligence and creativity behind them.
  16. I think we should just restrict chicken feather users more. There's no such thang as a player who just joined the site to send a pm to over 100 people with good intentions. If you ask me, you should be able to earn your right to send pm's: Get a post count of 100 first, then you can send AND receive pm's. before that, you can't do either. This will prevent hackers from joining the site and hacking dozens of accounts in one go, as well as preventing new site joiners from falling victim to these pm's they receive in their inbox.
  17. I doubt it, but if they are it's because the community puts too much investment into 50-100-150 and now 170. They could be boosting the number to get to the maximum trade limit, which is based on total qp's It's based on the amount of quest points you have compared to the max amount of quest points. The max is always 60k until Jagex changes it again, regardless of the new quests being released and more quest points being obtained.
  18. Meh, I've long forgotten most of the holiday events I was there for. I just know the rewards I liked. Rubber chicken and easter ring. All else is just mediocre.
  19. Getting metric units is easy. It's all intervals of 10. The hard part is knowing whether a certain amount is big, small, hot, cold, heavy, etc. If I'm not mistaken, One of the presidents had a failed attempt at bringing the U.S. over to the metric system. The only way we Americans can get comfortable with metric is if we were deeply exposed to it. Translating metric measures to customary don't help, it just wastes time. You have to actually be immersed in the system. After a few years of science class I've grown accustomed to using gram and kilogram. But everything else? I've got a long way to go...
  20. As some others have said, a new year in Runescape would completely screw up the whole chronology of the game. Players who play quests after the year changes would basically be going back in time. Although a quest that led into mechscape would be the most epic transitional story line ever...
  21. I'm thinking the writer is just a mindless troll. If she was serious, she'd at least describe the other "influences" of runescape: perhaps describing the lack of exercise a kid gets from sitting on the computer for 3 hours straight, or thinking that drinking beer would make you stronger like it does in runescape. But no... she goes for swordfish binging. I'm thinking we all just got M-M-M-MULTI TROLL'd.
  22. Man that's just horrible. Not only the people who died so suddenly but all those injured and all the historic places damaged.
  23. There has always been stupidity. There always will be. At one point in offtopic's history there weren't enough threads to keep discussions going. I'll try to find the old thread that described the state of OT long ago. Sure, there are some people who come here thinking that OT being non-runescape also means non-discussion and therefore think that posting junk like you'd find on /b/ is welcome. It's not, and there are still plenty of mature OTers who have been here for ages who valiantly defend the sanity of the forum. You don't seem to realize that as more people join the site, there tend to be more morons among the bunch. I hate the immaturity that appears on OT too, but it's not so frequent to the point where OT is a hellhole. We're far from that stage. Maybe of those really borderline threads like "ever caught them" and the picture thread were still alive, we'd be in a pretty low stage. But thankfully, believe it or not, there are mods who work to keep up the boards to prevent them from becoming a stereotypical internet forum.
  24. QFT. I really don't see the need for them to send test rockets. Trying to be a nuclear power? Why are they so desperate for that? So that they can hold all the chips during an international conflict? They're not the only ones with missiles...
  25. I'm trying so hard to think of a pun for this but all the good ones are already gone...
