  1. Go ahead and show me 1 video advertisement each time I load the first page. If that's what it takes for me to be allowed to play F2P, so be it. BUT, I don't want any of this nonsense of a video advert for each time I hop worlds. I've already seen your video advert, thank you very much. Heck, I'll even watch a video advert for each different account I log in with, just not one for every world hop. Unless they make the video advert part of the 30 seconds you wait... actually, I think I'm on to something here. Jagex, please put a video advert in for the 20 seconds it takes to transfer my account between different worlds. Its lost time to me anyway - just as long as I can login in the minimum amount of time.
  2. I doubt it; I figure that your bank space is a huge array of shorts. There's probably many more variables included in the game. Plus, we're talking bits here. There may be 100 million accounts, but 32 * 100,000,000 / 8 = <1 gigabyte. And Jagex saves tons of other information about accounts, figure that all of those are strings or character arrays, which are much bigger. Doubling one facet of a character's profile does not double the size of the entire profile. I suppose my point is that the amount of xp you could have does not need to be capped. When Jagex designed the game they just went with the standard variable size, instead of something else. At that time though, there weren't enough players to justify memory as an issue. Besides, they're probably like, who the hell is going to get 200M xp anyways? And then they got their answer. Now they probably won't change it, because it'll be unfair to those (<50) people who have already maxed out, and have "lost xp" because of it.
  3. I think Jagex should ban Timmy for RWT. I don't care that he lost his stuff, or the money put into the account, other people have been banned quicker for lesser things. Although imagine the PR Jagex would get when the reporter explained the situation to Jagex, and the only response Jagex gave was - "Timmy admitted to RWT. It is a violation of rule 12, and the penalty is that he's banned." Whining idiots like Timmy ruin the game.
  4. Here Here. Yeah, I'd have to think that I wouldn't care about the RSOF, except when I've got a good suggestion to improve some facet of the game (and posting here might not make it to Jagex).
  5. Yesterday someone said "You f***less [wagon], go to hell". It wasn't bleeped out either, I took a screen shot because I was so shocked - Jagex made it much easier to get around the censor with much harsher words. Coming back to the maturity thing - this was in f2p, but it was a GOP player (they had at least 50 runecrafting). This means that they had plenty of experience in RS, but they seriously lack judgment and tact, and maturity. I know the game is for those of us older than 13 - but what that means is that there should either be a complete censor, or none at all - and not any of this 1/2 way crap.
  6. So, If I'm getting this correctly - Jagex should give us fletching because we already have the materials, and because it doesn't drain money; whereas Jagex shouldn't give us construction because we already have the materials, and because it drains money too quickly? Um, no. I'm failing to see your logic. I mean, why doesn't Jagex give us Summoning, Herblore, and Agility why they're at it? We might not have the areas for those, but at least it doesn't drain money, does it? Oh, and on the topic of money making. There have been points in time where I've made more than 600k in an hour merchanting things, with the grand exchange, in f2p. And also playing the GOP will get you ~100k in an hour if you're good at it/have a good clan. Or, as stated before, runite mining is 500k / hour. So I believe the argument that moneymaking capabilities in f2p should not dictate what kinds of skills Jagex releases to us. If you want these members skills/areas so badly, why not get a job irl? Working 2 hours in the US after taxes = 1 month of blissful membership.
  7. It could be that because you don't have 99 in a skill, you can't do everything in that skill. For instance, at higher levels of cooking, the % of time you burn something is much less, making cooking experience more valuable. And If you didn't have that experience, you shouldn't be so quick to judge the "uselessness" of the skill. However, understanding how many difficult 99's you've achieved, I'd say the person making that argument better have 99 in it, otherwise they're just blowing smoke.
  8. Hmmm... maybe, maybe not. [hide=Theoretical stuff going on here -]Setups: semi-pure melee going in against a semi-pure mage. Combat level 50 (55 is where "low level" ends, going with the BH definition). Melee has - 40 Atk, 59 Str, 51 Hit, 5 Def, 37 prayer (protect from magic, all prayers needed available). Mage has - 64 Mage, 47 Hit, 45 prayer (protect from melee, all prayers needed available). The mage level is also the 59 required for fireblast, +5 for less chance at splashing. The Meleer could also have 66 magic before getting to level 51 - that's excellent magic defense. Let's assume his magic level is 37, enough to tele anywhere in F2P. The Meleer would wear monk robes, amulet of strength, steel helm, steel kite (would take these off). Would also have a rune scim and rune 2h as weapons. The Mage could also have 95 str/atk levels... but this would only help in his (worthless) 2h combo. It doesn't help with defense, and he wouldn't have it because of autocast would flip off. The Mage would wear the best magic gear f2p could buy - combat robes, amulet of power, dragonfire shield. The Mage would wield a staff of air - (economically speaking this makes sense...). Lets compare the maximum hits - Mage - 16 Melee - 16/19 (could be +1 but TIF's calc may be incorrect) How about defense? Mage - slash) 24 (and then add in the + 10 def) Melee - magic) -2, after removing) 0 (and then add in the 37 magic / 5 def) What about attack? Mage - magic - 34 Melee - scim slash) 54, 2h slash) 69 prayer bonus? melee +11, mage +2 Inventory spots - Melee - 2h, str pot, law rune, air rune, earth rune - 23 food. Mage - law rune, air/fire rune, earth rune, death rune - 24 food. (with bind) + nature, water - 22 food Its difficult to calculate who would hit more often, especially since I'm not entirely sure how magic levels play into magic defense, or even how magic hits are calculated (1 random number or 2?) Although, having the numbers next to each other shows that the difference in bonuses favor the mage by 10, but the inherent mage defense of having magic levels makes up for it. What I have done here is shown that a semi pure meleer has a much better attack bonus than a mage, although (surprisingly) the mage has a much better defense bonus to a melee than a melee has to a mage. The melee still has a better prayer bonus, and with lower leveled prayers, would take about the same time to use up all his prayer as the mage would.[/hide] My conclusions - Accuracy (factoring in defense) - about the same, maybe favors the mage (slim margin at best). Hits (factoring in 2h) - about the same, maybe favors melee for a lucky 2her. Food - depends if mage takes binds or not, generally favors mage by 12/14 hp. Risk - favors mage... mage dies, loses up to 10k worth of amour vs 80k for melee Cost - favors melee... only thing sunk is cost of food. Runes for the Mage could be upwards of 60k. With a semi-pure mage being better than a semi-pure melee in 3/5 categories, I would say that at level 50, range stinks. :
  9. For all of you that have said "the max number in java is 2.14... billion" - you're incorrect. If you want an interger value bigger than that, there's something called a long. It goes from -9,223,372,036,854,775,808 to 9,223,372,036,854,775,807. Since xp isn't necessarily integer values, Jagex could have used floats or doubles instead. Those numbers get freaking huge too, even bigger than a long. They're not very accurate though. Also - if you want an integer value that's BIGGER! than that, there's a class called a Biginteger. It allows for absolutely MASSIVE numbers, I don't think there is a limit. So, capping the amount of xp one can have at 200mil is something Jagex did, which they didn't have to do.
  10. Agreed yeah - apparently we're part of the only 3% that enjoys it... #-o
  11. How is letting a select group of F2P'ers post on the RSOF the same as giving them everything? It isn't - I was poking fun at the idea of "We can't give f2p that - otherwise people won't become p2p." So, my idea for a minimum total level is 759, Makoto says 1100 - any other ideas? What about a length of time? Would this be the same as total level? I.E. Must have played runescape a total of 100 hours, or had an active account (at least 5 hours a month) for a year?
  12. How about magic level 80? Or 90? Or when your combat level is above 70? You don't own as a mage then.... Melee will hit 16's and higher just as fast as you do, more often than you do... AND have the capability of a 2H combo. I think its generally accepted that magic in F2P has been neglected for too long.
  13. I agree mining is boring, and powermining is worse... If jagex gave us a "dump all" option, powermining would be about 4x easier. If you're trying to train mining by coal... don't do it. Train with iron. Its about 4x faster, for 1/2 the xp each. Meaning you have to dump more, but the time between dumps is so much faster. And smithing the most efficient way by just using bars is a huge money waster. Smelting into bars isn't very time efficient, but it is cheap/makes money. I could also say - "Cooking, don't do it- waste of time." Most of the time its cheaper to buy the finished product than it is to buy the ingredients (I'm thinking swordfish and lobsters... tuna potatoes not so much).
  14. The harpoon - a new range weapon that impales the opponent, then draws them closer for a few DDs specs. Since most other equipment is wieldable, sure... good addition. +1 support.
  15. This brings the number of bugs in the GOP to 101. Meh. Jagex needs to get on this. Figure they don't because <2% of the rs population has higher than 50 rc :P
  16. Right, but anyone who can pay $5 can post there... so I don't think the introduction of F2Pers into the RSOF would make it worse. For instance, TIF allow f2pers, but TIF seems to have a bit more class than the RSOF. Not saying that one causes the other... but I think you'll still get the same distribution added, maybe even a little higher quality because they're higher levels.
  17. Coorslights.... got the screenie, will update when i have time.
  18. From Mod MMG's post F2Pers in the RSOF? Is Jagex giving F2Per's everything!?!?! So, the debate. Should high level f2pers get access to the RSOF? What should be the minimum level requirement for f2p access? IF you are answering "no, they shouldn't", please give an appropriate reason why not, and not just "they don't pay" - and try not to repeat other people's responses, unless you can give their idea in a different light. IF you are answering "yes, they should", please give at least a minimum level and a justification for it. My opinion: From what I've heard, the RSOF is trash anyway, and a minimum level requirement in general might do it some good. Considering the fact that there are 15 f2p skills, and it takes a little dedication to get any skill above 50, I'd say the minimum total level for a f2per to post on the RSOF to be 759 OR have been a member at any point in time prior. Debate:
  19. Thanks! You too! Today I was on and off, I did a little (and mind you, little) bit of strength training for 30 minutes. I was in world 21, training on Moss Giants. Came back from moss giants, had about 6 lobsters left. Saw that there was a level 96 training at Lesser Demons. Well, I don't think he saw me, so I went fishing. Filled up my inventory with lobs, and went back to where he was. Looked like he was AFK... he had pretty low HP, and didn't respond. 2 hits for 25 HP, and he's dead. Didn't take a screenie, but I got: -Rune Scimitar -Rune 2H -Rune Full Helm -Amulet of Power -Lobsters -3/4 Str Pot. Went to go bank in lumbridge, kept 6 lobsters in my inventory and teleported to cabbage patch. There was a level 99 who was maging, cast teleblock on me. I fought for a little bit, but he got me to 18 HP and I had to run with 1 lobster left. I get to the bank with a little HP to spare, no problem. Anyhow, I wanted to get back to the moss giants, so I walked back that way. I had 6 lobsters. I figured he'd be busy with someone else. Turns out I was wrong. Well, I had 75% run... ran to the docks; realized that I needed to recharge on prayer, and he stopped hitting me. Started walking to the altar, when BAM! I was bound. Ok, no big deal... I'll just go *RING RING RING* - telephone rings. OH CRAP, no portable in reach, and my dad is yelling at me from the other room to pick it up. FFS; I can't teleport, log, or ask him to quit. And the phone is on its second ring; 2 more to go before I'm in trouble. AHCK; gotta leave. Set the laptop down, run to the phone, turns out my sister needs picked up, alright. Get back to the laptop, and I'm already in lumbridge. I hope he had a high drop table... got a corrupt dragon something. Who knows; I lost about 250K from it. :wall: :wall:

if you know what you want to say, and the exact language, just press "enter enter", type it in, and then you'll get search results. Its what I do.
  21. If its mousekeys, maybe you're moving your mouse a bit too linearly? That would be an indication of a macro, something that hits its target dead on, every single time, instead of overshooting, or going at a perfect horizontal, and then down a perfect vertical. I know I can't do that with a mouse. Or it could also be how mousekeys would take triggers away from their JVM, and they would detect that... Strange though, I hope Jagex gets it together.
  22. Alright, I'm nearing 1000 total level. Thought I would let you guys know a little bit about me. BTW - my defense level is 51. Looks like I've been bumped off the top 2 million, but DEF is something I don't want to raise quite yet. [hide=personal stuff]I think I've been playing RS since about 2005; I showed the kids I babysat miniclip, they found runescape, showed me it. I thought it was ... well, stupid to be honest. But then I found the joy of player killing, and I've been hooked ever since. I'm a freshmen at Purdue University, I'm studying electrical engineering. In high school I was in TechHOUNDS, a FIRST Robotics team. It basically ruled my life; I was the lead programmer for my junior and senior year. That said, I enjoy programming. I started a few projects, but never really completed anything. My latest project was with two other guys, and it was to mimic the game CDOGS (search for it if you haven't played it... its awesome). We programmed in JAVA, the graphics were a bear to do. Never really got the multiplayer working correctly, might have been because our school's network was locked down pretty tight. I might post a video of it if I find the time.... Other than computers, I also like to bike ride. I'm training right now for the RAIN (Ride Across INdiana), its 160 miles, one day, one way. I also enjoy the Hilly Hundred.[/hide] [hide=account history]My first account was banned due to macroing, and to be honest I don't even remember it's name. I thought I could cheat the system when I was away at school - Turns out jagex is pretty good at detecting macros, or this thing was stupid. It was funny, one day when I got back, the thing had about 100 mystery boxes stacked... I probably gained a total of 10k combat xp from macroing before I was banned, definitely was not worth it. No worries though, the other levels on that account stunk, so I didn't have a hard time making a new one... Sees_all1 was born. I think I might have tried to use eyeseesall, that was my old AIM address (i'm never on it anymore; besides I use GAIM now :P), or I changed to sees_all1 because I didn't want any of my AIM friends to connect the two. Shortly after I created Sees_all2 and S33s_all; 2 was a mage pure and s33s_all was a range pure. Runes were expensive, and I hate range, so neither of the two are used today. I think s33s_all still has a skull, has always been f2p, and is under combat level 20. So, I have a rare account :P. Lets see, just before the wilderness update, I created Sqelt and Sbelt. I thought it was cool that I had accounts with no numbers. Both of these were mage pures, and I think I had one at some level higher than the other, so when I was collecting runes at the Dark Warrior's fortress, I could log into the other and kill someone if they annoyed me. Sbelt has nothing now, and Sqelt is used for FoG and questing with my little sister's account. Oh, and I have 2 more accounts - Chubbypickel and Cloned_Jesus. Chubby was made for my guide - How to make 1 mil in 48 hours after "Learning the Ropes", and Cloned Jesus was made for recruiting clan wars. I have no intention of keeping either. So lets see, 1 active main, 1 semi-active side, 5 unused, and 1 banned account. Hmmm.... that's alot. I guess I never really thought about all of them as being too many. And I guess if you see any of them logged in anywhere, you can say "Hyt", and know it's me.[/hide] [hide=My F2P Bank]Let me see... this bank shot is current as of 2/15/09, no its not for sale Once again, its all f2p stuff, valued at ~22 million, and near the holidays +6 million.[/hide] [hide=Current Goals]Lets see, I'm going to get all my levels above 60, and my RC Level to 70. Eventually I'd Like to have 99 in every stat, but the order in which I do that may be a little whacked. Hmmm... If I were to plan it out, I'd say -Strength -Magic -Runecrafting ... defense and attack would probably be near the end of the list. IDK why, but I've never liked those stats. Oh, and Range would be dead last, Range is my LEAST favorite skill. I don't plan on making Sees_all1 a member ever, I think if I reached that point I'd make Sqelt a member. It seems I'd be wasting a whole lot of effort I put into a F2P account, kinda like the people with 99 in runecrafting felt when the GOP came out, "meh, RC is easy now." I will update this with goals once I get started on something. I will also post my methods, and give credit to whatever guides I use.[/hide] [hide=a few of my favorite threads]These are the threads I've created/have had Significant contribution to. I'll enjoy it if you visit these / bump a few : : viewtopic.php?f=143&t=775023 viewtopic.php?f=37&t=781544 viewtopic.php?f=37&t=781196 viewtopic.php?f=113&t=777291 viewtopic.php?f=37&t=773824 viewtopic.php?f=180&t=747672[/hide] [hide=MORE STUFF, IRL]I've got a goal to do 100 things before I graduate college. If you have any good ideas, go ahead and post. Ideas must be at least semi-legal, and picture appropriate (pg-13). Examples of things on the list: Make Thermite Will it Blend? Firecrackers Obtain 10 lawn gnomes Stay awake for 72 hours straight. Right now I've got about 80 things on my list, but I need 100. Also, if it totals over 100, I may take out a few of the easier ones, or set new challenges.[/hide] -sees_all1
  23. This brings the total count of bugs in the GOP to well over 100. Interesting to note that if you're alone, and the other team scores no orbs, you'll get (number in +1) ess at the end of each round.
  24. PLEASE modify your post so that there are breaks in between the spells, OR Something similar to SPELL NAME - LVL - DESCRIPTION Condemnation of Death 77 Lowers prayer by 20% Piercing Presense 80 Lowers defense by 20% Would make it much easier to critique. Are these spells in a new book altogether, can you merge the standard book with this? Is there a new quest involved? Is it F2P/P2P? How many runes do each take? Is there a new type of rune involved? Can they be auto-casted? What is the chance of splashing?
  25. that may work better than WASD for movement... especially when PKing or playing the GOP. For some reason WASD is just more comfortable for my left hand to use than the arrow keys.
