  1. compfreak, I think I've been agreeing with you all along, except you didn't like my examples. However, you believe that your stuff's worth is what other people value it at, and I believe that my stuff is worth at what I value it at. Big difference, but I'm glad to see you understand my view.
  2. Party favors... But anyhow it's a celebration... and most people in f2p get geeked out about a drop that is just 1m. Anyhow, I can do what I want with my money, and I'll probably post on tip.it somewhere for my party before I have it... Besides, GP in f2p is worthless past 15m... unless you're going for a partyhat.
  3. stfu. :P I lol'd a little when I saw myself... I'm glad I'm the only one wearing full skele though.
  4. I know I'm going to have a party when I get a 99 - heck I even dropped 1m for my first 90 - str. I think I'll probably drop close to 13 or 14m, and probably most if it will be str pots, rune scims, r2hs, a few sara pieces, and lobsters/swordfish. I figure its worth it because I put in so much effort - esp since I'm all f2p. I'll probably do something similar when I get 99 magic, I'll just drop a bunch of runes. It'll be a while though.
  5. How about, you get 2000 (or however many you can get currently in 1 hour, 2000 was my estimate) hits with the armour against another player on a pvp world, or 10000 (5x the amount in pvp) hits on an npc on any world. That way, after you wear the armour it won't vanish for just wearing it. Oh, and those 2 numbers would scale with each other, so every 5 npc hits the total goes down by 1. This would make them a little more than useless, because you wouldn't have to use it all in 1 go.
  6. I can tell you my santa hat has a value to me of 21m - I will not sell it for less. Once again - what is something worth? I may never sell my santa hat, but I haven't lost anything, 'cept maybe the opportunity cost. What is a market? Its where people get together and decide what they're willing to pay for things. What is a stock worth? Well, whatever someone is willing to pay for it, and someone is willing to sell it for. If a company goes bankrupt, it's stock price will plummet to 0. Why? Its because its worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it, and a bankrupt company has little to no value.
  7. The thing about Range / Mage that makes them this way is that there's no accuracy stat for them. It's somehow built in to Jagex's formula. I think for combat, Jagex generates a random number, from 1 to your maximum hit (unless you special and there's some minimum). Then it generates a second random number, from 1 to your maximum attack. The other person generates a random number, from 1 to their maximum defense. If their number is higher than yours, you splash. If your number is higher than theirs, you hit. I think there might also be bias' built in for mage/range; range seems to hit accurately high all the time. It might be that Jagex only calculates 1 number for range, and that is their accuracy number, and it also scales to their hit. It would explain why range either splashes or hits high through armour. but, 99 range, 99 mage, 99 def 44 prayer > any useful melee combination.
  8. What words are now uncensored? Obviously damn, [wagon], etc. but how far does it go? The censor not only "protected our eyes", it also protected us from getting the mute. Wish I knew everything that changed so I know what not to say. To me, *** was just as effective as [wagon] without getting a mute, wt* is just as useful as well, wtf and the extended edition. Same with ffs. Well, from now on if I see someone saying something unnecessary, or abusing their new found privileges, I will not hesitate to report abuse and add ignore. Some people aren't mature enough to handle language, and need jagex's doublespeak/doubletalk.
  9. compfreak, why spam this thread with your worthless posts? ;) :P We all understand your argument, but our point of view doesn't seem to align perfectly. Just because our point of view is different doesn't mean that one of us is wrong. Unless you think that, then you're [developmentally delayed]. I'm glad you understand that there are multiple points of view. Let me explain my point of view - I've saved my pokemon cards for 10 years because they have a sentimental value to me. I also know that they might be worth more in 40 years, but there's no guarantee. I also paid $3.24/pack for my pokemon cards, and right now they're worthless. Yes, I have "lost money" on my pokemon cards, but they still have value to me. Back to my original post - what is something worth? Whatever someone is willing to pay for it. So, I'm willing to keep my pokemon cards because no one is willing to pay what they're worth to me. Let's apply this to RS now. I have a santa hat. Right now, its worth 14m, because that's what others are willing to pay for it. It's worth 21m to me, because that's what I'm willing to sell it for. If the price of the santa hat goes down to 10m, have I lost anything? No, because I still wouldn't sell it, its still worth more than that to me. Apply it to this current situation -If you bought a whip for 40m, then it was obviously worth 40m to you when you purchased it, otherwise you're [developmentally delayed], or you were trying to merchant it. -The cost of a whip went to 2m. Did you lose money? Sure you did, but why complain? You still have your whip, and you value it at 40m; you're willing to pay 40m for it.
  10. Seeing that in F2P, the most you can heal at once (normally) is with a swordfish, and thats 14 hp, I don't think eggnog should heal 15, period. And +5 to all stats? isn't that a big excessive, even if it was P2P only? I agree the drinks like buckets of milk or buckets of water, etc. should be able to be drunk, but some of your stats are a bit wack. The +run energy is a good idea, but maybe it should be around +10 and +20, otherwise it may be a bit much. -sees
  11. Here's a quick question - what is something worth? Seriously, think about that one for a minute. What is something worth? I'll give you the answer - something is worth whatever anyone is willing to pay for it. If you're willing to pay 40M for the whip, then to you its worth 40M. If you're willing to pay 200M for the p-hat, then to you its worth 200M. The simple answer is that if its not worth it to you, you won't buy it. Conversely, if you can't get the price you want for it, you won't sell it. Unless of course you're merchanting. Then nothing has value to you, just other people.
  12. 95% of the staff at Jagex are serving members... Also, the cost of a server is minimal to a staff - figure that a server on a rack is at most $500 a month, where one staff is (at least) $3000 a month. Anyhow, to the point of the topic, I think that rune is enough, however mages sorely need new armour or a new bind spell that lasts longer than 5 seconds, and an attack that hits more than 16. Rangers hit up to 18 at 1.5x the speed of mages, and they have better armour.
  13. Try buying a rare through the GE... I've never had much success with it. So there is still interaction. Also, most of those measures were to cut down on rule-breaking. I think Jagex did a pretty good job with that. Oh, and as far as this "economy" is concerned, I have no idea what you're referencing. Before the GE it was near impossible to gain a macro prospective of the "economy"... well, whatever.
  14. PJ'ing is not going to get you kills, it'll get other people kills. So enjoy your failcake while you eat to full HP... you're disadvantaging yourself while they get in free hits.
  15. Quit being stupid. The "limited supply of materials" you speak of can be recycled once thrown out. Plus, the amount of "limited materials" is quite vast. Its like calling the sun a non-renewable resource, because eventually it will run out. Sure, that's true, but it'll take on the order of 5 billion years. Party hats and Christmas Crackers are of a very limited quantity, a number which can only decrease. Therefore, they are truly discontinued.
  16. What I don't like is how with melee, there are 2 combat raising stats - based on tip.it's calculator, if you have 99 strength and 99 attack, you'd have a 67 combat level... and if you had 99 mage/range, you'd have a 50 combat level. This puts melee at a generic disadvantage.
  17. They don't want your offenses to pile up - they'd rather you not make stupid mistakes. However, if everyone was able to appeal every single offense (this being the internet :P), they would need to MASSIVELY increase the number of staff to review every case, and most of it would just be spammy anyway. Plus, if a blackmark keeps people from doing it again, well, its useful really. Sorry about your situation though, I wouldn't let it bother me.
  18. From a F2P point of view - I believe you are mistaken. I play FoG on my nub acct, sqelt. Sqelt is level 38, and with him I've beaten about 30 level 90's or above. All they all morons? No, I would think not. I'm just that good at hiding. I don't let them find me, and when I do, its when I'm standing near a house... if you time it right the only damage you'll take is when you enter the house. Also, every so often, maybe 1/5 games, I'll play someone that's my level (And by that I mean between the levels of 20-50). And I destroy them. Oh, and to help prove this, Sqelt's stats - magic 55, defense 10, HP 40, cmb lvl 38... FoG rating - 5,423 with 5,611 ranking points.
  19. Basics of repel ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V6PHICQkrdE Advantages of repelling: -Allows you to keep the orb moving continuously while standing still. -Keeps your run up high. -Allows you to "covertly" get in orbs Oh, and when repelling in diagonally, the orbs will go in on the east/west side, and will slide across the north/south side. Maybe I'll do more work... who knows. -Sees
  20. Whats the current F2P min? Sees_All1 - f2p.
  21. Is there any evidence for this from a reputable source? I semi-doubt it, but it does make me wonder... Anyhow, I like programming in Java, and I've had fun programming with Java's robot class. It's able to take screenshots, move the mouse, input to keyboard, etc. I haven't tried to write a macro with it yet, however the logic is pretty straight forward - until you get to random events. Those would be a challenge, espescially depending on the scenario. One thing that has kept me from writing macros is because I don't know whether java applets can see the other classes that run or not - and having the robot class off and running is a sure sign of macroing. I know that most macros use scripting and not java, but whatever.
  22. The goal of communication is understanding. If there was understanding, they achieved their goal. If there wasn't understanding, there's a problem. How big of a problem.... who knows?
  23. No, that was NOT MAGIC BASED. Did you even see what it looked like? Those smaller shapes are its ranged attack, the big shape is its magic attack. When it hit me, it didn't hit for health, because of the protect from range. I don't care how much you can run around trees to dodge revs, they are still overpowered in F2P. If I wanted to engage a rev, and fight it, like I would have any other PKer, here is why I'm at a disadvantage. 1.The most any F2Per could hit at a distance is 18. Not 30. 2.F2P PKers cannot bind AND hit damage at once. 3.F2P PKers cannot team all at once in a single combat zone. 4.F2P PKers cannot use the entire combat triangle. If they did, there would be no room for food, or they wouldn't have any armour. 5.F2P PKers cannot teleblock. 6.F2P PKers drop all but one of their things. If I wanted to run away from a rev, like I would have any level 126, here is why I'm at a disadvantage. 1.F2P PKers cannot magically run through doors 2.F2P PKers cannot disappear and reappear across natural barriers 3.F2P PKers cannot prevent you from logging out before they've even hit 4.F2P PKers cannot bind and hit at the same time. 5.F2P PKers are stopped by aggressive NPCs in single way combat. 6.F2P PKers are much fewer in "dead" worlds - with 500 or less people. Not so with revs.
  24. Right, but that's not an attack from far. Plus, they'd only hit up to 26/27 with a scimitar. 32/33 with a 2h, but then they wouldn't be able to hit so fast. Point being that if Rev's are going to replace F2P pkers, they should be able to hit like a f2p pker. Also, I could run to the aggressive spiders, and stop hitting back... Then, the 126 would have to deal with a spider instead, and in that time I could get enough distance, and log out.
  25. You are wrong, as my video CLEARLY indicates No, I ran away the first time because I wanted to turn on my range prayer. Then, I ran back to see it. During the time after I indicated in the video, I forgot to turn auto-retaliate off. I was trying to keep my distance from it so it wouldn't use a melee attack, as that wasn't what I was testing. It also helped figure out when I was frozen - if I stopped running, then I was frozen, otherwise I would've been running towards or away from the rev. I also showed you that YOU CAN BE FROZEN WITH RANGE PRAYER you were wrong. My combat level is 90. I was in level 36 wilderness. When I was in level 35 wilderness, it lost interest BECAUSE OF THE LEVEL DIFFERENCE. Quit piling it on. If you run from a rev, you will be attacked at least 3 times. The first time it attacks you, youll know its there. During the first time, it has a very high chance to do very large amounts of damage. Then, youll either turn on your prayer or immediately start running. Youll get hit a second time. Finally when youre out of range, it will hit you again. If, at any time during the ordeal the rev uses its range attack, you have a 50% chance of being frozen WITH PROTECTION PRAYERS. This is not a small chance I would not bet against 50%. This makes it easy to get hit a 4th time. During those 3 times, expect to be hit AT LEAST 50. The most a f2p PKer could hit during that time with magic is 48, and with range is 54. That would be incredibly rare. Oh, and that ~50 figure counts in at least 1 splash. I could run the numbers... but that would take about 20 minutes, and I don't feel like wasting any more time on you. The chance of getting hit at least 1/3 times is about 60-70% - figure 25 damage The chance of getting hit at least 2/3 times is about 30% - figure 50 damage The chance of getting hit 3/3 times is 8% - figure 75 damage. They have more of a chance of killing you than a normal f2p pker. edits: getting the quotes right...
