I would agree, if not for the near-fact that "the ticking bomb scenario does not exist". It's so unplausible and dumb it's only fit for a hollywood movie. It has only existed in a smaller form in much, much smaller plastic explosive cases involving less skilled people or even amateurs. A terrorist organization with enough money to even get ahold of a nuclear weapon would never leave such big security holes in their plan. There are hundreds of thousands of desperate humans who will give their own life for taking 50 lives in a war zone, and have done so, and do at the moment in countries like Iraq... Why wouldn't someone stay with an atomic bomb personally to make sure it detonates considering the personal glory? The scenario is for fiction and video games. It's like when James Bond always hits a straight flush in his movies. The chance is staggeringly low because the plan is so horrible. Why risk the entire operation with a lenghty multi-hour waiting period just to have a team of explosions specialists disarm the bomb? A person willing to be even remotely associated with such an atrocity would have no problem dying with the blast him/herself, and the architechts of the attack would probably be thousands of miles away from the radius There's a good article on torture and the "scenario" in this article (24 is one of my favourite TV shows, I just linked to the article to make people think). It's a logically flawed plan. Torture to find an alleged 'ticking time bomb' is ridiculous (but for a large nuclear weapons cache/inactive storage intended to be used for mass civilian casualties, it could be justified)

Way back in RSC I noticed a lot of people with the best adam/mithril armor combinations answered new player's questions with "check it on tipit" so I thought it must be something good, turned out to be a tips/guide site with a forum. Didn't post much in 2001, only really started posting on forums in 2002 when the address was "runetipit.board.dk3.com". Yeah that's all coming from memory, no idea why it's stuck there after 8-9 years -.-

I barely ever play on old consoles any more except for brief nostalgia moments, if I want an old game & it's no longer available (I do have a Wii console but no wireless to hook it up online) or for sale, I'll just get the ROM. Why pretend it's a moral issue or refrain from having fun & recalling memories, if you have no way to pass on the cash to the company anyways? Buy it if you can and it's still available. Get the ROM if it's extremely old, no longer in production, and is unavailable in new condition. There isn't really any other way to get old games (talking 15-20+ years and more), than from friendly people sharing their copies in virtual form to other people.

Now wtf are you talking about? Where can you be 14 and have a drivers license? Even a restricted one? And how old are you now, presuming you have driven a lot. South Dakota, only place on the planet where it's possible at under 15. Personally I think it's mad though, I'd never allowed myself to drive at age 14, it's just not the right age for driving. It's a complete recipe for disaster. Hell, there are kids that age whose legs can barely reach the accelerator, not to mention insecurity issues/driving when angry or under strong emotional influences etc.

I was diagnosed as lactose intolerant (also by confirmed laboratory tests/blood samples), at about 11 or 12 I just started hating not being able to eat regular ice cream, milk, etc... So I started eating & drinking things containing milk just as normal. The entire condition went away by about age 15. I could drink 5 glasses of milk or eat portions of ice cream at friends' birthday parties etc Not that it's advisable at all for most people; If you're allergic to something, just the smell alone can cause serious respiratory aches or worse... But the 'exposure' method can definitely work

I passed the written form on first try & failed the actual driving test once. Don't be let down if you fail it; I did because of driving roughly 10 miles over the speed limit constantly. Didn't even realize it after it was over, just wise up and genuinely listen to the advice the instructor gives you if you happen to fail. A lot of people pass both tests on the first try though. Never had any serious accidents or fines ever since getting the card

My life is also the opposite; my closest relatives were always extremely close to our family, me & my brother also had bonds with them. They were practically like our brothers and sisters despite living way across Europe in the balkans. Then I got my mother's side of the family though which is nordic only, and I don't have many family connections there. Even my uncle who is my direct blood relative through my grandfather, never wanted to have anything to do with me. I don't blame him, but it's way different than the relations I was used to. Barely any of the swedish and finnish speaking blood relatives I have, have ever contacted our family frequently after we were about age 10 or so, except some random aunts and whatnot. I also got 1 relative family in Denmark who never did as much as even sending a christmas card even though we did.

His Hawaiian birth certificate has already been proven to be real by multiple official agencies, lawyers and doctors. It can be also viewed by the public [1][2] Completely useless lawsuits by try-hard "experts" and a few people unable to accept the outcome of the election

How would you prepare for a breakdown in organised society?
BlueLancer replied to dusqi's topic in Off-Topic
It's always fun to read people's utopias where they get a massive dry-food storage and huge amounts of ammunition. It doesn't matter how many guns or ammo you have, if another larger group encounters you, you will almost surely be robbed or killed in complete anarchy. What you really need is to band up with the most people you personally know and trust. Without the rule of law the biggest group of humans will steal from the weak individuals and possibly tax them. You are nothing alone if the law isn't there to protect you. Find about 20-30 people, your relatives and closest friends & their families, and fortify some positions. If possible pool your money together to buy some armored vehicles as well. That's what people do in Somalia and Sudan. The less fortunate ones living in small villages not organising with arms get obliterated. -
Same here.. I consider "will this hurt anyone" or "what's the collateral damage". If it doesn't hurt anyone, such as speeding 30mph over the limit on an absolutely empty road with no cars in sight anywhere, I don't particularly pay attention to what the local legislation says about it. I don't think it's very practical to blindly obey the law in every single small thing without taking shortcuts, especially when your crime has no victims (say, you are in a hurry to take your kid to soccer practice & a sign on a road that would make your trip faster says "trespassing not allowed - only for residents", and you decide to take that route.. It's not like the road knows if you're a resident or that those people even really care) Drug use is often mentioned as another 'victimless' crime, I only agree to some extent.. Your usage of the drug causes no harm to anybody, but you have to consider the chain of events and the flow of money that happens when millions of people do it, unless you grow your own weed or have a lab where you make drugs. A lot of the people at the top of those distribution networks are not just cold, calculating businessmen. They are often psychopaths who don't hesitate to kill their own members for discipline or disagreements, etc... By funding those people a lot of harm is indirectly caused to dozens of other people who ensure you get the drug.

Those organisations (not that I know of any, but they probably do exist) that direct the majority of their resources towards helping women who really need more equality in third world countries are IMO as respectable as Red Cross or any aid organisation. In western countries they are usually only concerned with their own issues Asians have the lowest representation of all races in the 109th congress [1] (only 4 representatives, compare for example blacks: 42) and have had the highest median personal income of all ethnicities in the US for over a decade [2]. A lot of them also have a significant language barrier to cross especially if they are older when moving to the US from a poorer asian country. Discipline and strong family pressure for education even amongst less fortunate, suburban families can go a long way for many people

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Third-worl ... d_feminism Um...? Maybe you didn't read the actual article you linked to, but it makes the exactly same point as in the post above I made, and postcolonialism exclusively refers to those 3rd word countries like Congo, Zimbabwe, etc. that were colonial possessions of host countries such as France and have now achieved independence: Feminists in western countries have distorted values and views on gender equality. Postcolonial feminism makes the correct argument that not all women can be just lumped into one category and be treated as the same, completely ignoring cultural standards (such as the fact that a lot of the rural communities in those countries can't survive without someone taking care of livestock and children at home during the day). Liberal feminism (as cited by that article) is exactly the dominant form of feminism occurring in Europe, US and Australia, which largely concentrates on smaller, irrelevant things like minor economic disparity, rather than human rights and the right to education, etc.

Pyromania is classified as a mental illness & impulse control disorder, which can persist even after heavy Thorazine/Depixol medication and is usually formed already in childhood. It's extremely hard to treat, I do have some sympathy for the people who genuinely can't control their actions http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_g ... 2602000316 I don't hate them, what they're doing is horrible though, as far as I read from the news at least a part of the bush fires were intentionally started, even if the person responsible has pyromania, he is more or less involved in the mass murder of civilians.

Well his earlier articles have up to 5 million views per, plus the amount of people that just visit occassionally but don't read every article, & the people who no longer visit but know his name.. I'd put it realistically at maybe 10-20 million, but not even nearly hundreds of millions of people. I thought his first productions were funny as heck, now he updates like once per 6 months and has gone commercial.. He's lost a lot of his edge. On the subject of feminism, it seems ridiculous why these organisations still spend so much resources on female issues in western countries than ones abroad. Women in western countries live like males, and in some cases have more influence on things like parental custody than the father. Women in 3rd world countries have no future, no rights, their clans and husbands tell them who to vote for, they have to live in fear, can't study or work properly... Concentrating on those issues would make feminist organisations look respectable. Now they make themselves look pathetic. Minor economic disparity (which is almost natural due to the salary loss occurring when an average woman will spend time with her child during the first few years of his/her life) is not an "issue" in the same context as chronic lack of employment, education and basic human rights. We now even have "men's rights" movements to tackle greedy feminist organisations that instead of trying to push for gender equality, are all about giving women the higher position in society. That seems like a symptom instead of a natural reaction. These don't exist anywhere else, not even in other wealthy nations like Japan

Not to be a spoilsport, but anyone with even a hint of a brain cell will ignore all your posts if you genuinely believe all the things you listed in your post. Assassin provided reasonable doubts about your age too. Just as a reminder, you can't legally use tip.it being under 13 years of age without the consent of a guardian or parent. Don't think there have ever been age-related bans here, but it's theoretically not allowed.

This, plus is hurts my eyes. I don't know about you, but going from an almost fully black site like Maddox or Blackle after 10 minutes to nearly white pages like Digg or subSilver tip.it, makes reading very painful on the eyes. I don't even have glasses or contacts currently. Must be something about the retina cells in your eyes all activating at once upon sudden bright light, like when you wake up because somebody turned the lights on & you can't see a damn thing for maybe 20 seconds.

You only "need" enough surplus calories, protein and rest. Training as a priority comes second to those 3, because you will never grow more muscle mass or will do so with sub-par results, if you neglect the right nutrition and sleeping patterns. Having access to gym equipment eases your workload significantly though, reduces joint aches/overloading, etc... Definitely buy a gym card or some of this equipment (I personally don't keep any of this stuff at home except for dumbbells and a training bench, up to you) [*:3sajhtj3]CAP Hex dumbbells (durable and probably the cheapest on the market), pick 2 for about 80% of your maximum lift strength, 2 for 100%, and 2 for the maximum you project to have in a few months. Spend money on Bowflex or other premium dumbbells only if you're seriously into lifting weights) [*:3sajhtj3]Bench press.. This will cost probably up to $500 and more with plates, I don't know many brands but my gym has Olympic Incline [*:3sajhtj3]A training bench (not really even necessary, but can reduce back pains), Nordictrack probably makes the most cost effective ones at under $100[*:3sajhtj3] Your total cost for a minimalistic home gym (disregarding treadmills, rowing machines and other 'extras') solely geared towards increasing muscle mass would be around $1k.. If I were you I'd just get a gym card No, you don't "need" any equipment to train properly. 1 of the strongest persons I've met, a S.Sgt from Senegal, some 6'4 | 230lbs with probably less than 5% body fat insisted he only trained by push-ups and other body excercises for roughly 5 years eating only lamb and fish with rice. He only started using gym equipment after living in various western countries. Biologically I think it's very plausible, but it will take extra dedication and consume more time than equivalent training with weights would.

Spam discussion... But if you really wanted to know, it's roughly the size of a human in the game universe at least according to the earlier games [hide=][/hide]

bands/artists you have trouble listening to
BlueLancer replied to WookieeMania12's topic in Off-Topic
Jamaican dancehall (sort of like rap, but more instruments and very clear vocals). Cool songs but I can understand maybe only 15-20% of the lyrics because a lot of the songs have heavy Kingston slang and non-mainstream English words. My friend listens to them all the time in his car. -
My grandfather listens just about exclusively to classic music, I listen mostly to hard rock/metal (but also a ton of other genres after I grew a bit older) and I got a lot in common with him, and he thinks pretty much in the same way as I do, is semi-introverted, and at ease with himself. Of course 2 people are a pretty small test panel to support that study, but it could have something to do with reality. I got just about nothing in common with my relatives who listen to pop, immature 'bling' rap (not the tupac kind), etc., I don't judge people at all by meaningless facts like what they wear, eat, listen to, etc... It just happens to be that way. Also, almost all of my friends in real life & online listen to metal, or techno

It's not a hoax really, it does save power especially when using larger monitors [1], so it's definitely useful. Google probably wont use it due to it not appearing to be user friendly (the white background also adds clarity at the cost of heavier power consumption) If you have a 15-18 inch monitor or smaller (a laptop or smaller desktop display), it doesn't do anything. In the worst case using the full black interface of Blackle can increase your power consumption even according to Google's official blog [2] Statistically, there is a high chance that if you use Blackle you're just increasing your power consumption. The situation is different with larger monitors

How does Nintendo plan for us to get GC Games?
BlueLancer replied to brandon1023's topic in Off-Topic
Same as with GBA / GBA SP games.. They're not outdated at all, they just selected to ignore those products since the devices itself no longer sell good (makes no sense considering Nintendo's strategy is selling consoles at loss, and making profit by selling overpriced cartridges). If you're in luck you can still find used GBA or GameCube games online, at worst they'll be used. That's better than nothing at all. The good side is that you can also use the old, smaller GC disks in the Wii console & it will recognise them, 100% playable with the GC controller. -
First it was a fun site where you could browse user submitted content.. After maybe a year or 2.. A site that took flash videos and soundboards from other sites & branded them "copyrighted" by eBaumsworld, and used them as original content. Not that it wasn't a pretty good compilation of especially soundboards, but they were outright stealing intellectual property and selling ad space while displaying it. I had no sympathy for them even when they were being constantly harassed/DDoS'ed last year. I'd bet Eric Bauman couldn't really care less about the site shutting down even if he created the site... He's already become a millionaire thanks to it. He wont even need to work again for the rest of his life.

It could be loading too many user-installed drivers & preboot programs before booting (happens during that logo with the green bar), that usually causes unnormal boot times. It should never take 5 minutes. Also if you defragment the whole drive often, it will perform smoother (users who install an OS on a freshly formatted drive which is as clean as it gets, probably are aware of the staggeringly fast boot speeds - up to 5 seconds, since the drive has nothing on it except the OS) Even on my old 256mb RAM ram, 1.2ghz computer that I dumped years ago, XP would boot in about ~45 seconds. I only had the bare essentials and web browsers installed. That improved to approximately 10 seconds on a quad-core 2.8ghz processor and 4gb of ram. Vista takes roughly double the time, though. Not very noticeable but the speed difference exists at least when it comes to boot speeds.

Anyone else ever feel like taking a year and just leave?
BlueLancer replied to ShaqAttaq's topic in Off-Topic
After spending 180 days in compulsory military training I learned to appreciate simple civilian luxuries like TV, proper tasting food, music, cars, etc... I wasn't even 19 yr. old. (I've read chinese youth including women have to spend 2 years = 730 days in compulsory service.. Holy..) Being away from home for a long time especially if you're young (and forced) can be mentally taxing, but it also builds character. Think how many people just stay in 1 place for all their life & brag about spending a week in a forest 'bootcamp'. If you leave voluntarily though, and do things you enjoy like traveling, it's probably going to be a positive, non-stressing experience. I haven't thought about it, but it sounds like a great idea, regardless of doing it alone or with another person like your significant other, etc.
