Help with street prices, junk, etc
But how could you ever sell it without junk?
-
Farming
Use the highest herb possible for maximum experience if you are after leveling. It makes a difference if you do dwarf weed for 192xp each or avantoe for 50 something xp each. You can actually make decent leveling progress with herbs.

The best skill in the game
I actually never wear my slayer cape, because everybody seems to be wearing them.

Help with street prices, junk, etc
I got a fury kit yesterday. I am getting the silly notion it is currently worth a lot, but all the offers I have seen is with trading other items. Very confusing. I also don't have junk unless you count my javelins and arrows (p). (about 1.5M worth). Should I just hang on to it for a while?

I never thought this would happen...
I never thought I could make 10M a week by putting in minimal effort. I never thought I would reach 99 slayer which was the reason why I started focusing on this skill. So I would always have something to do. Unfortunately I reached 99 slayer.

What teleport site is nearest to a fairy ring?
Good advice! Let me explain ... I'll do anything to save time, so I'd rather spend a little more GP on runes or teletabs if it allows me to consistently save 20-30 seconds. Glory to Edgeville saves time but in the end you have to pay it back with a lengthy Glory recharge trip. I was looking for a teleport with runes (or better yet, a one-click) that would take me close to a fairy ring. Is there possibly ... a third-best option? .__. Thanks for replies everyone! House teleport. ;Mounted glory.

Tri Slaying
Dusties are also great for ranging in the chaos tunnels. I always used rune darts for them. Bring a nice combat familiar and things go really fast. Full slayer helmet required of course! Just maging stuff is fun. At one point I was iceblitzing hellhounds. Complete waste of GP, but still fun. People would stop frequently to ask what the cabbage I was doing. Aberrant specters can also be maged nicely. I think you will even profit still. Basically you can mage anything except a few specific tasks such as waterfiends and dark beasts.

Tri Slaying
When I was ranging slayer I preferred rune darts most of the time. And when it was multi then I would use a combat familiar as well when possible. If you need a bit more punch then you can switch to broads. With the focus I would avoid void, but I used void back then because there was no focus yet.

SGS - Good time to buy?
If you don't have soul split you will be better off buying that.

Best Dailies
You can also buy some broad tips from the slayer master while you are buying unfinished broad bolts. That's just two more clicks for a small profit. Don't buy them all. Just 1 or 1.5K depending on the GE price. The GE price hovers around 60 gp. Sometimes it is below. Sometimes it is above. I also tend to buy feathers whenever I pass a store that has them or I make a small detour when I am close to such a store. If you fletch your unfinished broad bolts you have a nice profit and some nice fletching exp. But multiple herb farm runs is a really nice way to make a decent amount of money in a day.

How come?
Having sharks in fresh water is no problem. There are several shark species that can live in fresh water, such as the bull shark and river shark. Why don't they eat the numerous ducks present? You could also ask yourself why don't the seasharks eat the numerous seagulls present? Because ducks and seagulls don't like being eaten and will try to fly away. Another scientific explanation is that ducks are actually eaten, but you never personally witnessed it. There are many people who have never seen a fox eating a chicken. Yet they do. Actually many shark species have as habitat the shore. Hence it is nothing miraculous that you can fish for sharks at the shoreline. Of course typical open ocean sharks such as the blue shark will be pretty impossible to catch near the shore.

Slayer Gear?
I wear verac skirt and bandos chest. Defense becomes a bit less important the closer you get to 99 def. And with the note that I always used super defense pots (and later extreme) for many tasks, unlike many who think defense is a waste. I also slayed a lot on verac skirt and verac top. That could be an alternative. And until 90 slayer I was wearing mostly d skirt and guthan plate. Just do what you like and don't worry too much about it. The further you get in slayer the less important defense gets, because your defense level increases and you get access to better ways of healing. By the time i got a unicorn I actually didn't really need it any more. And if you have soul split all that defense also become a bit a moot point. So, start working towards that for instance. But for most slayer tasks a regular noob outfit and a bunyip works well enough. If you want to tank the more serious stuff such as iron dragons and dark beasts consider the fact that you can semi-tank. For this verac skirt and top is quite nice. You have some decent defense and an excellent prayer bonus. Use the bunyip for healing (or SGS, or soul split) and if the dragon/dark beasts starts outhitting your healing slam on the protection prayer for a while. Let yourself heal back. Use a special to heal (SGS or that other thing i never used). take protection prayer off. Just be sure to use defense pots. I found this semitanking quite relaxing and fun. You feel like you are actually fighting something dangerous. In the sense that you could die and not that you are just hacking away under the umbrella of a protection prayer. This doesn't work of course for miths. The outfit you have is quite nice. Try to add some stuff for variety. Try to see what works best for what task. If you don't need barrows armour for a task, don't use it. If you do use it. exchange parts. When your stats improve change more. I'm an old school slayer myself. I started slaying pretty much when it came out. It took me years to get to 99. Didn't even have guthans till I hit 80 slayer. I was just using food and rune plate + legs. There was no summoning yet. Above 90 I relied on my trusted SGS and summoning for healing. After I hit 99 i finally got soul split. Sold my SGS for that. And noticed that slaying became pretty much extremely easy. Healing was suddenly no problem any more in most situations which allowed for combat familiars to come along. I never did piety for tasks. at the end I sometimes used the 5% strength prayer. So no worries. Just slay and have fun. You will get there in the end.

High level farming?
I decided last week I would like another 90+ non-combat skill and I picked farming. Before this I only did the occasional herb run. Now I do maples, pineapples, poison ivy bushes and a herb run. I have gained almost two levels in a week. I should get 87 farming today. Maples were quite nice, because I could get two runs in on a day. Pineapples were a big disappointment because they seemed to take forever, much longer than their official growing time. I only check them once a day now and do not try to shorten the cycle. Herb runs give a lot of experience as well. I was on holiday so I could do several herb runs per day. I was growing dwarf weed (192xp) on the regular patches and torstol (225xp?) on my arm's patch. I haven't sold anything yet and last time I checked the total harvest was worth more than 10M gp. That's a bit what I invested but I haven't used up all th seeds up I have bought by far. Now that I am back at work I am limited to a single run per day. And maybe one extra herb run. It's still adding up nicely. I shouldn't take too long to get past 90 even with the relaxed schedule. I am actually enjoying the farm runs. They don't take too long, and once they are done, I go do something else. I feel that leveling farming is relatively fast, requires relatively a little effort, and is definitely profitable. Even with spending a decent amount of money on maple and pineapple seeds. And I think it is fun.

What should I High Alch..
does superheating give smithing xp? yes, I particularly like the gold smithing/superheating method. You get gold gloves (or whatever they are called), go to edgevill furnace with full load of gold ore and nature runes (fire staff equipped). You smelt x gold ores. When the furnace smelting has started you simultaneously start superheating your inventory. It speeds up the smithing of the whole load considerably and generates extra magic experience. I did 76-80 smithing like that and it was almost enjoyable (compared to normal smelting).

farming - snapdragon
I just go with what is best experience. Currently that is Dwarf weed. Gain in experience is also profit.

Do you care about your rank?
I try to keep my slayer rank under 5000. The funny thing is that this process already started around lvl 85. And at one point I looked at the levels of my friend. And the thought came to me that I could easily surpass some of them in rank if I would just level some of the non-combat skills. And I did. So I guess i care.

Tip.It Times - 27th June 2010
why on earth would Jagex want to roll-back on a designed effect. They wanted the climbing boots to have a higher alch value than d and rune boots. They weren't worried about the amount of cash entering the game. The only thing they would like to rollback is the overreaction of some and that cannot be done anyway. Because you have a personal problem with an update it doesn't mean the update didn't do what it was meant to do. For Jagex this update was probably successful were it not for the fact that people blew up. Which they probably didn't see coming because they know a little bit more about the runecape economy than we do. They weren't worried about the big picture. They just underestimated the gut reaction and jealousy of many. How can you predict irrational thought? Well, it is really difficult. They probably would need a dedicated team of psychologists to just get a hint of what may set the community off. When I heard first about the update I thought nothing of it, and that actually hasn't changed. But for some it is apparently really a difficult thing to process the fact that some people might have gotten rich over an update. And then the speculation started on inflation and some people saw an opportunity here. --- No honestly, there was no rollback possible because there was no error or mistake in the design of the update. There was just a miscalculation of the human element, part of the community overreacted. And nobody can rollback a human mind.

Rock climbing boots affecting RuneScape
If Jagex would remove alching tomorrow there would be a riot and all would moan about how stupid jagex was and that they cabbaged up the economy once again.
-
Will Jagex reply on Monday?
The other thing is that relatively 1% always is 1%. And with millions of players 1% is still only 1%.

mage slaying
Someone once told me that aberrant specters have a high mage defence, but you can actually mage them quite nicely. I didn't pay attention to profit at all though. I'm not an efficiency freak. I even maged tasks such as hellhounds. Blitzing them even. Talk about being inefficient. But I doubt you will have a big loss with aberrant specters.

article 1. "One of the biggest problems with this is" that even I can see that this paragraph is merely speculation.

Farming assistance
You could add limpwurts to your run. Minimal effort, extra profit. Don't bother watering them. I never do.

Rock climbing boots affecting RuneScape
^ What is there not to understand? This to me falls in the category of bug abuse, because overnight a few people are now extremely rich, this is not fair. This is not a gut reaction, loyal long-term players are mad about this. I honestly wonder if mod mark made this change to wake up jagex. 1. The fact that this update was okayed by jagex staff. 2. The fact that the alch values for these boots are out of porportion compared to even dragon boots! 3. The fact that there was no rollback even given the huge player outcry. Maybe mod mark is quitting and doesn't care and this is his farewell. Even the post on RSOF that he made doesn't exactly sound like him. Just when I thought the game could not get worse they do this. Also those boots should have been max 1k-5k. They should have allowed a natural price increase on the GE. this is nothing. a few weeks ago i encountered the bug that the stores were replenished almost immediately. That meant unlimited broad bolts for instance. I could have made a billion easily. And so for everybody else who encountered the bug. Nobody rioted about this however. In fact, nobody even mentioned it. I reported the bug. A mod came online an hour later and checked it out. At that time the stores were still replenished at an unbelievable rate. Click buy 500 broad bolts. Click 500 broad bolts. etc. Every click you added 90gp x 500. Which is actually almost the same as the value of climbing boots. Next GE update broad bolts did go down and they stayed down for a while. I wonder why. Yet, no riot. Plenty of people made a fortune out of this 'opportunity'. It wasn't fair either because only some worlds were affected. And you only found out if you actually tried buying something. So what? It's a game. I discovered that this was a way to potentionally get rich really quickly. (it worked for all stores). I bought some broad bolts. Considered what I was doing. Submitted a bug report, because I don't see the point of getting rich quickly and ruin the enjoyment for the game. So you have 1k climbing boots. Drop them on the ground. You don't have to alch them. So someone gets really rich because of this update. So what. It's their own game they are cabbaging. So maybe their will be some inflation? It happened before. We adapted. And yes, my farming run example is to the point. The point being that exactly nothing has changed in my gaming experience. And this is basically the case for most people. If you go out of the way to make a point of it, then indeed there seems to be a big problem. If you hadn't even heard of this update and the potential problems it might create you wouldn't even have noticed. So lighten up. Play the game. don't worry about some noobs who won the lottery.

Rock climbing boots affecting RuneScape
1. I didn't know we all played this game in order to get huge gold piles. I also didn't know that knowing that other people have huge gold piles will make people unhappy. 2. If all the speculation is true there should already be effects visible in the runescape economy. So are there any effect visible? Why listen to opinion if we could measure real effects. Is the economy actually going berserk right now? And if there is a reaction in the runescape economy is it because of psychological effects or because of an extreme amount of GP entering the economy? 3. The rise of the price of climbing boots is good news for slayers. Addy and rune boots will actually have some real value now. Especially since these items will not protect over stuff that is actually more valuable, in contrast to climbing boots. --- All this gut reaction cabbage is annoying me terribly. I logged on today on runescape. Did a farming run. Nothing changed. Same amount of satisfaction as ever. Checked my bank. I had one pair of climbing boots and thought: nice. And then logged off because I have better things to do right now.

Revising and Reviving
I never even had a shield half drop with all melees + range + slayer as a 99 skill. They could therefore easily upgrade this rare drop to something really valuable as far as I am concerned. It's not that it will be likely that I will ever get it as a drop anyway.
