Did you change any settings that may have caused it? I remember my friend changed his game to some random resolution and it crashed his game (making him reinstall it 3 times before it worked).

Well I know that there is an AT&T center in the center of town, so the speeds should be pretty good, seeing that I won't be living too far from it. If the advertised speeds are the same, what factors play into the speed of the connection?

You're lucky you opened it with firefox! I had this problem before; it asked me if I wanted to save the file to disk instead of running automatically. But to be sure, I'd check with AIMfix. It should pick up (if anything) the AIM virus. Next time, please check links before clicking!

As psudomorph said, try another AC adapter. If it does not work, check your warranty. If it's still under warranty, call Dell Customer Support and they'll replace it for free. Not sure how much it'll cost if it's not under warranty though.

Hey all. I am moving into a new apartment in September and I was discussing the internet with my apartmentmates. We have 6 peoplein the townhouse, so I assumed we needed the fastest one (3-6Mbps). There are basically two options; cable internet (Comcast) and DSL (SBC/AT&T or Extreme DSL [local company]). I will be using this for gaming and school work. And random web surfing. Price is not too much of a factor; the two plans are about the same price. I'm not exactly sure about the difference between the two. I am worried that cable speeds will be affected by other people around me (I know comcast is popular in Davis).

You should not try to accept files from other users. You have no idea what they may be trying to send you. The files could be infected with a keylogger or a virus, disguised as hptvnow.exe! I tried a google search and you're right; there are no sites with hptvnow for download. I have no experience with HP laptops, so I don't know how to help you. The recovery CD would be your best bet -- have you tried again? The recovery CD that came with my HP desktop (which died years ago) restored all the programs that came with the computer..

I actually admire Sheehan. I don't exactly agree with her super leftist views (though I am antiwar, I am realistic and know we can't pull out right now without heavy consequences). I admire her for actually taking a stand against the war (which I think is great) and not just thinking and complaining about it. She is well within her rights and I applaud her.

Well, you don't exactly need 500 Extracurricular activities to get into college. As long as you have SOMETHING it should be fine -- it doesn't really matter what it is, as long as you stick with it. :)
