Sylvester Stallone becomes a Toffees fan eh?
cardovilian replied to pompey_spud's topic in Off-Topic
Much like Beckham in L.A. So which player are Everton hoping to sell to a USA club next year? -
1. Half-Life 1.= Deus Ex - Genre defining games (Half-Life just shades it though) 3. Half-Life 2 - Re-wrote that genre 4. Need For Speed Underground - Pure adrenaline rush! 5. F.E.A.R. - Oh My! I'm 38 years old and it was STILL creepy. For least favourite I'd have to go back to 16/8 bit games and none of you are gonna remember them, so I won't bother.

China didn't make Hong Kong, Britain did. We pinched the land from them in the 'Empire Days', made it into our Far East business centre, then sold the inhabitants down the river by giving it back to China when they became a major economic power and started to make threatening noises about shutting Britain out of their (extremely lucrative) markets. Long live Capitalism and all it doesn't stand for!

That sounds like an interview question for some completely pointless civil service job with a ludicrous title and laughably over-inflated salary. Anybody see where I put my pen? Edit: You may have to be British to pick up the sarcasm in this reply. If you are not, but still got the sarcasm, you have my sympathy (and empathy).

Best way to 'celebrate' Valentines is not to do so at all, because you have been spontaneously romantic all along. #-o Too late!

Where did you get that information from? Depends on the burial method. Most cemetaries just close the casket and bury it. My grandmother died this past month, and her tomb is gaurenteed to give here at least 5 years before any decomposition begins. I am sure that more wealthy patrons would be able to secure the 10 and 20 year methods. You mean to say there's a currency in decay time? I understand the ancients being buried with grave goods to pay for their passage to the afterlife, but paying to keep looking good for an extra few years? I don't mean any disrespect to your family Barihawk, or anyone else's, but doesn't this sound to anyone else like the fad for defeating the aging process (through surgery etc.) taken just a little too far?

Mike Tyson: Arrested. Again. Good. But don't tell him I said that will you? :ohnoes:

That was poorly phrased on my part in an attempt to make the sentence concise. My point with that sentence was that multiple terror organizations existed before the invasion and the attacks against America were not centralized and some happened on American soil. Compared to now, attacks against America have been centralized in an area away from American soil. You truly believe that there have been no terrorist plots to kill Americans on American soil (or Britons {before or after the war} on British soil) since the start of the Iraq war? What do you think your (and our) secret services are doing all day? They're saving our butts by monitoring and neutralising these threats. P.S. Is there any way the spell-checker on these forums can be taught NOT to keep telling me that my "s"s should be "z"s? P.P.S. Or is it the fault of my Windows dictionary?

If there was a big government conspiracy to hide the existence of extra-terrestrials form the populace, this thread would have been deleted by now!

Why does being in school mean someone wont be interested in a literary classic? Isn't school the place where the writers of future classics should be falling in love with literature? Otherwise, what are our grandchildren going to read, 2000AD annuals?

English/American/Candian/[Your country here] Terminology
cardovilian replied to Star.'s topic in Off-Topic
Now you sound interesting! Err... back OT Some motoring terms (may have come up already but 'Whatever...') Bumper > Fender Boot > Trunk Bonnet > Hood -
Why have some people replying to this post used the word 'fault'? Edicius never mentioned this in his/her post, so please don't be putting thoughts like this into the discussion. If you are going to take on the role of 'counsellor' in such a situation, at least take time to read the person's post thoroughly first. Personally I agree with Elphinstone, Mercifull and others here. While we may all mean well and wish the best for you, you really should be seeking guidance and help from people who are qualified to give you what you need. I hope that you do find a way to deal peaceably with your friend's passing.

Anybody know where you can find the horn guy suit?
cardovilian replied to Ilewd's topic in Off-Topic
Having actually watched the vid now, I would add: 1. Shouldn't it be 'Horn Suit' not 'Horn Guy Suit' 2. Yeah its clever, but isn't he using only 5 or so horns for everything? -
1.) You spelled "deer" wrong. ;) Plus, has it occurred to you that perhaps it was a reference to the money he'd be getting? 2.) Well, what did you want him to do then in regards to this topic? Grab the couple's financial records, personal information, moving contracts, etc.? 3.) We all can't be perfect with our spelling. 4.) Maybe he typed "moeving" (moveing which is incorrect of course, but that can be a typo) and deleted the wrong vowel. 5.) You typed 4) instead of 5). >_> It's just something he wants to share. Your post wasn't very contributional to the topic at hand. In regards to the topic, maybe he really isn't doing it for the money and wants to have a bit of change, plus bring back some quality into the football/soccer team in the US. Can we really disgrace everyone that goes to another country for that? Plus, as people have said, it's not him that asked for the salary. It's what was being offered, and sometimes you really can't ask for lower or that would ruin your name oddly enough. Couldn't you just have removed that post and saved us all from wasting our time reading (and re-reading to make sure we had not mis-read the mistakes) the whole dam [sic (in case the 'n' is not allowed O:) )] waste of time?

He's like me, he sees something he wants for no reason. And goes all out to make sure he has it. Much like every kit in RS n'est ce pas? -
If its 'total' immortatility, i.e. I stay fit and healthy forever, then count me in. I want to see what mankind can do. The one thing that kisses me off about the fact that I'm gonna die in 30-40 years, is that I won't get to see mankind travel to the stars and take up our place as a galactic race, with the others that are undoubtedly out there.

Out of all the awards out there, whats the most prestigious?
cardovilian replied to trapical's topic in Off-Topic
Victoria Cross/Medal of Honour (I'm not American so I'm guessing they have equal stature) Who ever received a Nobel Prize - or any other award - for giving their life to save another? 'Nuff said. -
Why dont Americans Find Football (Soccer) So Interesting?
cardovilian replied to yomom1919's topic in Off-Topic
That's more than A-Rod gets  ^^ I thought that was impossible. So basically, he's getting the equivalent of $250 million dollars for 5 years??? That seems pretty dang impossible, speaking that that is more than the Red Sox total payroll. But $50m a year. Daaaang! And A-Rod is who? That's me speaking as a Briton who reads our sports dailies every day. But YOU know who David Beckham is don't you? And so does most of the 'civilised' world, as well as most of the 'third' world (countries where feeding your family is a more pressing concern than posting you thoughts on a game forum [reality check]). Simon Fuller (who brokered this deal) is nobody's fool. He is one of the most successful (and richest) celebrity promoters on the planet. He and LA Galaxy are going to make an absolute mint out of this deal, money that will make $250M dollars look like small potatoes. -
