2 January 2008 - Behind the Scenes - January
transcript80 replied to Fudgy999's topic in General Discussion
Well, after a quiet month for my quest cape, it seems that I'm going to have a LOT on my hands coming month. So, lets put 83 slayer on a side, and work on keeping the only cape I have in my posession.... Looks like a neat month. I like quests, I hope I like summoning, and unless these "high-levelled hunting creatures" are lvl 64 or less (which I doubt), it's red chins for me as usual...meh, gives me another reason to go to the elf lands, except for gathering white berries and doing clues. -

Sooooooo.....where is it? it doesn't say a place to be! -
I planted mine in draynor, since I have some to spend and need easy access. My last one in stock will be plated on miscellania for easy access to MTK as previously stated by another poster. don't forget to pay the farmer if you can!

Which items do you need to get a guthix prayer book?
transcript80 replied to Aurthor1234's topic in Help and Advice
pages are dirt cheap nowadays in the grand exchange. Lat time aI checks, guthix sold for <40k a piece... -
I take extra traps just because of that when I go hunting. A minor inconvenience, but easily bypassed....

skills will last forever. depending on your wc level, you could cut mages or yews for money. Do little chunks of yews/magics, then do magic. That will prevet boredom.

Is the Grand Exchange Fueling Deflation?
transcript80 replied to giantgerbil1's topic in General Discussion
I think you have a point, but you have to take in account that at the moment, the GE is FLOODED with junk people drastically want to sell. Once the bulk has been cleaned out (may take a month or more), prices will head back up. Not to the level of pre-GE, but they'll rise for sure. -
Clues, Secrets, and Forgotten Eggs about Summoning

2007 - Updates have made a big money Loss.
transcript80 replied to pipeelbakan's topic in General Discussion
Best opinion in this thread. The marked became "insta-flooded" when the GE was released. Now, we have to get rid of the HUGE surplus of items everybody put up there all at once. Once all these items have been sold, the prices will stabilise. It may take a while, yes, but eventually it will. And if i'm wrong, then items just got a lot cheaper! As stated before by qeltar: if you buy them for personal use, that's no problem. If you buy them for merchanting, then that's too bad. -
[ANSWERED]Herblore - Quick & Cheap Leveling up
transcript80 replied to Gold_Tiger10's topic in Help and Advice
Slayer assignments can give tons of seeds/herbs. I do most of these things myself, I seldomly buy herbs/seconds. As for super energys: mort myre fungi are a pain to get. I used the house/portal method, but it was just too slow... As I got loads of irits from farming and slayer, I did super attacks for a while. Eyes of newts can be collected fast, especially when using glories. So I have free herbs, buy eyes and sell the pots for 1.5k or so. What's the price of WFV? like 20gp or so? nice profit! -
[Answered]Hunter - effective 66 to 83 without chinchillas?

[ANSWERED]Herblore - Quick & Cheap Leveling up
transcript80 replied to Gold_Tiger10's topic in Help and Advice
1: Invest in your kingdom for herbs, meanwhile collect seconds yourself. If you invest in flax + herbs you could break even. 2: Serum 207 requires tarromin + ashes, so you have the chance to level firemaking as well! Use the serum on the inflicted in Mort'ton, and you get ingredients, pots and gp in return. About breaking even, a bank is nearby in Burgh de Roth. You are contradicting yourself if you want speed and no cost. Speed = money. Method 2 is not super fast, but it will cost you nothing. For the higher levels it is not recommended, though. -
Strength determines how high you hit. Attack determines how often you hit.
-
No way! if he plays 7 hours a week.... like 20k exp per hour at low level. do the math.
-
Praying is the best method in my opinion. However, if you insist on not praying, wear d-hide like you do, snakeskin boots, mind shield or any other mage defence booting gear. At your level, I think you'll have to take a lot of hits, though...

Salutary Neglect and offense forgiveness
transcript80 replied to benar's topic in General Discussion
The censor should block away typos. Sure, it doesn' t always work, but if you LOOK at what you type, then there's much less chance to make a typo. So, swearing (if that includes WTF and so on) doesn't bother me in person, but it IS against the rules. There are 1001 ways to type the "f-word" and people abuse it " to be cool". Let them be punished/ warned. Actually, a black mark is already a warning, since you don't get perm-banned right away in most cases. As for the people who have gotten black marks when " they were hacked": that is not JaGEx' fault. You should have proper measures installed to prevent that. You can't drive a car when you don't have a licence. If you are 13 years old and know nothing of computer security (to some degree) don't blame JaGEx for your incompetence in the case you get hacked. -
Salutary Neglect and offense forgiveness

Just a plain "NO". Rule breakers should be punished, rules should be enforced. No mercy on rule breakers. Advertising websites, scamming, RWT, all of this, is NOT a slip of the tongue. If you get black marks (human errors excluded), you deserve them. Getting a black mark is warning enough, no need to lose them after a period of time, that would only say to the player "it's ok to scam, just wait 1 month and you can do it again!" Rule 1 (offensive laguage) breakers do so willingly. They puposely evade the censor, and I have no mercy on them. Getting rid of black marks after a certain period of times would be the same as telling a child abuser that he is wrong, but after a certain time it is right again! Rule breakers should be punished, always. Zero Tolerance! -
There's always the option of the mining/smithing companies. The idea is that they supply the raw materials, and you trade them back either bars or in some cases cannon balls + some gp. Look at the market place smithing subforum. It is a good option if you you dont want to buy stuff, you can do it in small quantities (min 500 bars or so) and, depending on the company, they are always online and eager to make the trade. * off/topic: yay 1k posts!

I just happen to sell a zammy page 4.... pm me in game, we'll work it out. As for your actual question, I think when you complete the zammy book, you have the optimal set in your price range. The bone bow is cheapest, and has decent power, I heard.

Will there be any impact of duel arena update on rares?
transcript80 replied to Freesia's topic in General Discussion
my my.... what a nice read over 5 pages... First off, o/t: rares will sink/have sunk the past days, in the long run they will go up. So people quit.... I pity them to quit over such a think, but it will make rares even rarer. It might take a while, but eventually they will go up again. *puts flame cloak on* As for the rest of the discussion, I then to agree with Qeltar. Too many people are too obsessed with intrinsically wothless items -rares that is. Yes, I believe that these items are a (not "the") source for real life trading. They are an investment to some, a sort of achievement cape for some merchanters, a nice looking item for me. As to the people who say rares are useless, they are NOT. They are a sort of stock, an invetsment. If you invest in a rare (note: not buy it as accomplishment or for looks) you also have to put up with the rollercaoster price changes. So...p-hats are down at them moment because of the DA update. True investors would not whine for their loss, the invest in more because they can buy them "cheap" now, and they will go up in the long term. As for people quitting over this... So be it. I feel kind of sorry for them, but RS is not about p-hats. It is a MMORG, that has many, many more aspects (combat, skilling, friends etc.) than merching. If it is only 1 thing you like about the game, then consider doing another one of which you enjoy MORE then maybe 1% of its content. Not saying anyone SHOULD quit, not telling anyone what to do, but if you quit the last percent of the game you actually enjoyed after this update, then I think you should have moved along a long time before. We had something vaguely similar when pure essecnce was brought to the game. Whiners quit, and I think good riddance. There's too much whining around RS about things that have very little to do with RS as a game. -
Since p-hat are 1 gp, I don't really see a problem with this. You can stake 3000 p hats in a 20 minute time frame....

What keeps me astonished is how people are "predicting" what "will happen" in these kinds of threads, while NOBODY knows what the GE will be like exactly. These threads are usually a waste of time and effort. I have lots of time to spare, so I read most of them anyway :-w . GE is like summoning....everybody has an opinion of it, but the whole thing doesn't even EXIST yet!
-
I also know a famous dutch RS player who real life traded in RS. He got banned.... Well....that's the Dutch for you! We are great in exploiting other people. We started with africans 300 years ago when we invented slavery, now we "cyber thieve" our way through the internet. I'm curious how the court will appraoch this, though. It's more a test case really, because there is no jurisprudence on this in Duch law. BTW: as long as we can not get to your stuff, we are quite nice people to be with :P

Since I am a David Eddings fan, I like both ways he described magic iin his book series: * In the Belgaraid /Malloreon, he used it in the form of "will and word". It was bound to some "laws", like one that it is only supposed to CREATE someting. In essence, everybody could use magic, though some people were more talented for it. The magic abilities of a person would rely on the will power of that person. * In the Elenium / Tamuli series, it was used as a request to the Gods. Here, saying a spell, was in essence a "prayer" which a God could grant. Knowing the language was helping in how powerfull a spell could be, but the power of the God was also keen in this. Both kinds appealed to me..... As believable as magic can ever be.... No. I have no imagination......
