  1. TENTACLES! At the very least, I'd like to get a rapier, maul, staff, rigour and sneaker outta DG. Once I get my laptop back I'll probably be there a while lol. And high enough DG that I could try risking arcane streams in the wilderness.
  2. Nuff said. EDIT: Preferably a method that involves banking. Or, at least, no dropping.
  3. On ice strykes, I wear stream, chaotic staff, fsh. I use a wolpertinger So thats 1.15x1.2x1.15x1.21= 1.92 Fire surge normally maxes 280 280x1.92 = 537.6 537.6x2 = 1075 add the +80 damage with fire cape, that's 1155.2 My current highest hit is a 1146 Lets assume the visible equipment boost is displayed as is (as in stream+chaotic give a solid 35%, and don't multiply together to be higher) If we use your theory, but exclude the 1.15X1.20 for equiepemt (so it's 1.35x1.15x1.21) 1.35x1.15x1.21 = 1.88 280x1.88 = 526.4 526.4x2 = 1052.8 +80 damage = 1132.8 ...... so my max is in the middle of the two theories.... brain hurt. I know for a fact the highest I've hit is a 1146, and every maxxing video/picture I've seen is also the same. Idk, there's a number somewhere we don't see. I always thought the + 80 was added to the base hit before all the multiplication. If so, that would allow you to hit 1146+. If I can't hit as high as the max hit, I just assume I haven't hit it, not that the max is lower. Idk.
  4. Are you sure it works like that for the stream and the SoL? I know that magic damage boosts stack multiplicatively for different types of boosts (I HAVE tested that myself) I was always under the impression that boosts of the same type wouldn't stack multiplicatively.

Gah. You guys know what's bloody faulty reasoning? This damned argument. Holiday events have advantages and disadvantages. Major plus for F2P, that's the only update they see. They aren't as important as members, but I'd be willing to bet that 90% of long-term F2P players would be annoyed by seeing no holiday update. Keeping your memberbase happy, even if that memberbase is F2P, can only be a good thing imo. To some, it adds extra flavour and a nice bit of change to the game, and to those some they would be annoyed by a lack of it. However, it is a fact that they offer very little long-term benifit. As mildly amusing as the rewards might be (I find the rubber chicken and snowball fun, and I'd love to have a scythe to look like the grim reaper) how often do I use the rubber chicken or snowballs, or see them? Not often. They offer nothing tangible to the game in the long run. One off content like this, if done well, can be very appealing to certain players, even without a lack of tangible reward.
  6. Good luck. New protect values are based on GE price. Chaotics have NO GE price. So it depends on what Jagex decides to set the price of a chaotic at in the GE, which couldn't possibly please everyone (110+ DG cares a lot less about losing a chaotic then 80-85) OR letting players set it themselves. Since we don't know, all we can do is speculate; given what is known, so far it looks like this update will screw over people who PK with chaotics. When I only played RS I would disagree with this statement, but now that I've broken my RS saturation over the past few months and played some different MMO's, I really think Jagex's death system is to strict, and often prevents them from advancing the game. If anything, the death system needs to be even more protective, if not removed all together (with exceptions). If there is like .01% risk of death unless you DC, then there shouldn't even be an item loss system at that point. By doing so, you can open opportunities for real risk vs reward. The best way to make "more extreme bosses" is to change boss mechanics so you start losing gear at higher level bosses. Imagine if you had to do Nex and any items you lost were gone forever. Not blessable. Not Lootable, Gone. It would make a boss much more challenging, rather than being able to save 3 items at the hardest boss available. It would make sense if they start all monsters off with a 0% death penalty, and increase the penalty as you get higher up in boss monsters. Otherwise you are going to end up with a system which is to harsh for lower-middle players, and not harsh enough for high level players. That aside, I'm looking forward to the Clan update and Death update this month. I feel both are a step in the right direction. You could proably lose 1bil+ at Nex, if you lose all your items on death. Or whatever % you'd have the death penalty set for a high level boss such as Nex. I think working with gravestones would be better; maybe if you die you have to replace it, costs more money to replace at bosses; perhaps based on a % of the value of what was lost, with a cap on it somewhere. Otherwise most bosses would probably be deemd to risky to take the best gear too if you lose it without any chance of saving it whatsoever when one dies. I mean, a 1% monetary penalty at Nex could probably be easily 10m+. (Pernix, Divine/Elysian.) Why is that a good thing? Do we need bandwagon jumping stupid lemmings? - People will die yes, but they'll learn from taht! Why have hp & life if death doesn't matter? Because Jagex's death penaltaties are twice as harsh as 90% of all other MMOs out there? For those who say you can easily make it back in 15 minutes to you're grave whereever you die, you should realize that it IS made for lower level players, who have less methods of transportation and a shorter grave. A logical reason for less harsh death penalties is that harsher penalties has the potential to make people quit due to a large loss; ergo a less bad penalty is bad. What's a logical reason to have harsh penalties for death? (Outside the wilderness.)
  7. That might be OK for non-wilde, but what about if you PK someone with a rapier? Have it degrade to 0 but drop 2m? 'o.O Personally, I think it'd be better to keep the old mechanic for the wilde. Idk. I expect barrow item prices to become really chaotic. The price is set by what piece you lost on death, and the piece you lose on death is set by the price... They need to set a good price for untradeable - stuff like Korasis is fine (set the "GE" price by what you pay for it), chaotics is what I'm worried about. And with any luck this limbo thing WON'T screw over people who disconnect.
  8. If you are talking about clan camp there will probably be lower levels wasting time for months or years to come. If livid farm is going to be along the lines of herblore habbitat there will be a following as long as the lifespan of the game, or until something better comes out. So just because it doesn't seem promising to you i don't think you should make a conclusion like that until we see how useful/useless it is. Are assumptions, hypothesis and opinions ALSO not allowed on this forum now? Nope. Just math. L2efficiency.
  9. Problem. The reason barrow helms ARE so expensive is because those are what get lost on death. Meaning either all the items of a barrow set will come close to being the same price... eventually... Until that happens, this will play hell with barrow item prices. Hopefully D Claws will raise though, and GF AGS. Not sure how much I like the death changes in the wilde. I mean, until now, or until whenever the update gets implemented, one of the balancing factor towards dragon claws was the fact that you ALWAYS LOSE IT. They just made the wilde a bit safer and I'm not in favour of that. But on the other hand, if claws go UP in price...lol. Read closely. Items kept will now be decided by their GE value rather than the Alch value. So you'll keep the Fury/BCP/etc you'd lose otherwise. O so basically this update sucks because now you always lose chaotics....Been asking for an update to this for years by many people and of course Jagex goes and [bleep]s it up... Unless you DC, you'll be in limbo and cay say AMG KEEP CHAOTICS PL0X and keep them. Wait till the update is implemented considering it has the potential to let you keep the chaotics you want... Not saying it won't be a crappy update that defaults to you NOT keeping chaotics, but we can't know that yet and it has potential. Id rather be raped by a shotgun. I refuse to do the ele workshop quests untill get get a good reward/release trim for the questcape that's rotting in my bank. *gets shotgun* Assume the position....O_O
  10. Mmm, the law altar one is just on an island that you get to by talking to monks that exist in F2P. I don't think giving F2P Etrana for laws would be that bad imo. Not the basement part with the dramen tree. Chaos altar could easily be added. Nature altar however, seems far to embedded in P2P imo. I don't mind the concept of F2P being able to craft all their own runes, but some of the altars are just too embedded in P2P areas. I'd say the chaos altar would be reasonable though; they have to use the maze and go through the wilde. P2P, the abyss skips the maze and they have the underground non-wilde entrance if they REALLY want.
  11. *is confused by this whole keyer farming*

Honestly, not that I'd ever bot on my account, but as of late I've really been realizing why people do it....
  13. Damn this thread! Now I want a maul for TDs as well! Ah well. I'll see how well I do there once I have a rapier.
  14. Unless you HAVE claws, overloads, turmoil, maxed melee, I still have to reccomend the deflect approach.
  15. Um, Grimy, mind listing exactly what themes those rewards correspond to for nubs like me? No that I'm likely to get one of those rewards, but... >_<
  16. Good. And I was about to post one of those FUUUU meme picture things if that was "fixed"
  17. It's not common knowledge that defender>DFS? :-? no, it is but its also common knowledge that the majority of humanity is [developmentally delayed]ed/lacks any common sense/knowledge/etc therefore it is fair to assume the majority of the rs population is as well we also know that the majority of the rs population is 11-14 year olds who have a higher percentage of [developmentally delayed]ation/lacking common sense/etc compared to humanity as a whole and thus we can conclude that even though it should be common knowledge dfs< defender this is not true if that makes any sense You seem really angry. Who crapped in YOUR cornflakes? Sheesh. Lol. Oh! Oh! Oh! The majority of humans cannot possibly lack common knowledge; as it is logical to assume that if the knowledge is common, it is known by the majority of humans. Here's a question: why should we assume that the average scaper should know that the DFS < D Def, that the added defense bonuses are generally useless, and therefore making the D Def the more efficient weapon? And why should we assume they even give a damn? lol Really, it's not that most humans are stupid, it's that the minority of stupid people stand out. Randomness: girl getting married. White wedding dress. Put a brown stain on the front somewhere. 1 inch in diameter. It's extremely noticeable despite the fact that the brown stain makes up like 1% of the dress. /rambling ramble rumble rimble romble I need sleep lol
  18. Because they don't realize that you don't need defensive bonuses for most tasks, because they're obsessed with strength bonus.... Because they can and it isn't illegal to not use the most efficient gear possible?
  19. It has quite a bit of utility considering it's pretty much a stabbing version of the d scim. Same speed, same strength; it's stabd bonus is that of the dragon scimitars slash bonus and it's slash bonus is that of the dragon scimitar's stab bonus. And it doesn't require a quest. I expect this item to be VERY popular. Come to think of it, it's the perfect new member weapon, at least once it goes down in price. For that matter, expect all the dragon slaying bots to have it soon...

Ape atoll the best place at my level? (lvl 74)
  21. It rebills 3 days before your subscription runs out. Considering we had a topic not too long ago discussing how the date for ending membership wasn't consistent (I personally had it hover between the 1rst and the 31rst) it's not surprising that they removed the date tbh.
  22. Sir_Squab replied to Grogthurk's topic in Rants
Yeah, I still enjoy RS, but it has some fundamental flaws in it because it originally started out as a fun project in someones basement. As thus, some parts can be very simple, and other things weren't planned out well (looking at you smithing.)
  23. If by magic armour, you mean don't like your magic bonus go below NEGATIVE 10..... None of the barrow brothers have any mage def whatsoever. Even Karil, who wears one of the best magic defense armours in the game, is extremely weak to mage because he has lvl 1 magic.
