Have you accurately recorded exp/h doing that? On low defense monsters, a whip should outperform a CLS for the same reasons it outperforms godswords. Thing that gets me about this statement is that, should I ever get 80 dungeoneering, I'd stick to my whip on low defence monsters because I don't have to pay to recharge it. I'd keep chaotic weapons for bosses - and at my stats, at bosses, the CLS would be better due to improved accuracy. Note that I don't have overloards, max melee, or turmoil. Attack is 90, def/str 89. For maxed players, the only thing that matters is the speed/str ratio. Weapons with max speed always tend to have max speed/str ratio, but this is supposed to be balanced with lower accuracy. But for people with max melee, overloards, turmoil, accuracy rarely matters. Or well, it doesn't matter when comparing high end weaponry anyways. Also, this is most definitely not the first topic I've seen on this.

Don't take fire cape - SW cape is much better imo. I'd say GS > whip. Not sure with your stats. Also, seeing as you usually prayer, defence doesn't count for much. Black dhide is cheaper to use since you don't have to repair it and isn't really less effective. You might want to consider a defender/whip combo instead of the shield. Or just not bother with the shield, since claws/x bow can't use one. Plus, I reccomend GS over whip, although at higher melee stats whip may prove more useful. I'd just use a unicorn from the start. Also, is it a good idea for you to use such expensive gear with your lack of experience?

I believe that since melee is the weakest attack, higher levels with soul split switch to soul split vs deflect melee and just tank the melee hits while recovering HP with soul split. No where near either of those stats, so I can't say. I also can't comment on the lure pattern, since I really have no idea what direction is north in there o.O

The two dungeoneering updates are the same, and I'm pretty sure that last elf quest where you go inside that crystal thing or w/e WAS Mep3? And when did Jagex mention dragon items in the near future?

My house plans
Sir_Squab replied to Wouter828's topic in Achievements (Drops, Bank Pictures and Levels)
I can't say I see the need for 5 gardens. Also, I like having two portal rooms and my altar right by my house entrance, with my glory a step away from the altar. Very practical. -
I just call it dunge....

Let me reword what your saying: I did what I did on C6 for all floors. Now you go do it. I didn't use a prom spear. It helps if you do it more efficiently. Oh, and you won't be able to figure it until you've done a huge large significant amount of solo'ing in the first damned place? You come up with high exp rates that no one believes, and your argument is that people should figure it out themselves. Niiiiiiiice. The whole damn reason why no one believes you is because you insist on refusing to give up evidence. You insist of having these reason for no apparent reason whatsoever. The whole reason no one is testing it themselves is that they HAVE tried solo'ing and found the experience to be significantly less then what you claim it is.

I think killing/pickpocketing Alkharid warriors is a good way. I think.

09-Jun-2010 - Castle Wars Kill Streak Competition
Sir_Squab replied to atestarossa's topic in General Discussion
Er, you can't bring potions into cwars can you? Because if you can't, you just need one ranger with a seercull to screw up the mage. One good spec, suddenly he can't do any barrage spells... Still, ultimately I still think the real winner will be an obscenely rich mage.... -

I wish this was something a more "average" person stood a chance of winning. What are the chances that it won't be an obscenely rich mage? -
Double post.

I fit into none of these categories, and don't care much for the first one. The first one is more of a "pure" mindset, of people who consider defensive stats to be near useless. Although, imo, the +4 str of the fighter torso is all but useless, and that the fury is superior or tied to the glory in every stat....Well, these days, a fury is arguably not worth the cost, especially since I'm pretty sure you can't get it from the GE. Thankfully I have mine from ages ago. Also, many high level slayers argue that the DFS is all but useless, except for wyverns and mithril drags. Lastly, I myself definitely fit into the summoner category with my 88 summon, yet I still have fairly expensive items. Not bandos - yet - but SGS, DFS, and dragon plate body and legs, not to mention fury, is definitely in the higher end armour category. Also, the rune defender is incredibly useful on a lot of monsters. Don't shoot it down. I think the problem is most of them try to take a few stereotypes THEY run into, then classify those as the only ones. For one thing, there are always exceptions. The other thing is, people rarely fit into one stereotype. I can, off the top of my head, make a dozen "stereotypes" about slayers; however, these are much more specific stereotypes. It would be more of a questionaire type deal. For example, healing. Do you use food and/or familiars and/or items to heal and/or Soul Split and/or other? (Other could be say bloodspells/no healing whatsoever.) Food: what type of food: monkfish, sharks, or maybe tuna potatoes/rockfish or whatever those new epic ones are. Familiars: bunyip or unicorn. Items: SGS or EE. Me, I genereally use unicorn and SGS to heal. And that's just one question.....

I remember, years ago in F2P, the general store was well used, and you could find neat stuff there. And buying my armour from shops...I feel kind of nostalgic about the old general stores; however, as best as I can tell, it's nothing BUT nostalgia. The GE is much more efficient. Hell, except for items like vials, hammers, etc. and the occasional dragon scimitar (because I'd sell mine for say 120k+) I really stopped using shop probably over a year before the GE came out anyways. Probably several years, but I find it hard to tell. The GE basically replaced my need to go to W2 or W1 for stuff. (Still go there if I need a specific lend, or if I need to lend my GS to clear out some junk.)

"my loss?" ..."That's the only reason I don't bot"...? You should probably reconsider how you phrase your words. It sounded like you just endorsed botting, that it is the smart thing to do...? Is that a threat? lol? Isn't the only reason people don't do illegal things? I'd rob a bank any day, but I don't want to go to jail. Some people have the philosophy that crime in itself is morally wrong, rather then being something to avoid simply due to the potential negative consequences. In other words, people like me view crime as wrong, rather then something that comes with a negative consequence.

How does the hunted play their role properly without running. Seriously, it at least gives them a few extra charges before they die. And they lose. Haaaaaaaaaaaaaah your funny. I have better things to do then try to tank in the center vs claws. I also can't outtank a say, level 100 pure, because they're offense skills are typically higher then mine, whereas my higher defence doesn't do much. Especially in the center. Oh, and 10 levels come from summoning, which doesn't help me there; especially since sometimes the portals can really work for you. This also just counts towards people who have higher levels and equipment then me period...but, frankly, I don't fight them that often. (Although the level 125ish I saw with a gs, claws, wolpe, arcane stream really scared me...) Not sure if the other people who even posted play FOG. The majority of people playing fog are there to TRAIN MAGIC. They don't CARE about tokens. If paired with someone like you a wall-hugger / hider it is frustarting. In your rant you fail to mention how often the people you are hunting just remain at the center of the game collecting charges. If I was paired up with someone like you I would simply exit. It's an unwritten rule that most players play by where they just go to the middle to speed things up. Try it sometime -.- You still get tokens. I guess it's just my personality but if I"m playing a game and I'm being insulted, then maybe the problem is not other's its you. Try reading a guide or two on how to play FOG and use your observations for how others play. If the person you are hunting directly goes to middle you should as well. Runescape people communicate by insulting you if what you are doing negatively impacts their gameplay. Stop being selfish. And FYI jagex creates mini-games and the way they are actually played by RS players are two different versions. Don't believe the Jagex version of how to play a mini-game. That was an incredibly arrogant post. As I just mentioned I can't beat higher levels or pures at FoG without hiding/running and occasional house/portal usage. I've tried tanking against pures, they will me WAY faster then I can kill them. You evidently do not play competitive FoG. If the person has higher stats and better weapons then you, you will fail tanking. I can amass quite a few tokens walking around about half-way between the edge and the house perimeter and usually get 200+ charges before I'm even found. I play the game fairly competitively, and as thus, I REFUSE TO BOW DOWN TO YOUR STUPID MORONIC STRATEGY WHICH WILL CAUSE ME TO LOSE HALF MY GAMES. Oh look, I'm not the only one who can use big font sizes? Frankly, I don't see why it's my fault when people insult me for trying to win the game, rather then using a strategy that's doomed to failure. I still remember my favorite argument with someone at FoG. He pointed out that I'm a running/hiding noob. My main argument was that, hey, I won. I love you.         As much as I dislike people who believe that tanking at the center should be the main strategy and get highly annoyed when you hide, run, and often times ultimately win because of it, they are also part of life that we must deal with. Methods of dealing with it include loving the person who put that youtube video here....

Er, frankly, if your fighting something that took you 10-15 minutes, I don't blame him for not spending 10-15 minutes of his time for a free world.....

Most beers do. Asgarnian Ale, Wizard Mind Bomb, Dwarven Stout, Greenmans Ale....all of them should lower your def. Also, the lighthouse is a great place to get a hold of them.

Or just picking them up from the random corpses on the floor I believe.

 calling me and hundreds of others egomaniacal fool's that needs to be told how smart they are? quite frankly that puzzle is NOT that hard once you figure it out. yes it is harder for some then others but mournings end two was far harder. and that remark is going WAY too far. Nuclear physics isn't hard once you understand it..... Frankly, once I got the hang of the puzzle it wasn't too hard, but it took me ages to figure it out. Frankly, every single possible thing to do in life is easy once you know/understand how to do it. Anyways, he's referring to people who put others down because they "claim" to find something easy. I'd like to see someone to MEP2 without a guide or help from a friend and say they found it easy....I'd think a person was a liar if they said so. (And yes, I think MEP2 was harder then EW3. Partly because of those stupid shadows. I did that quest WITH a guide and found it kinda hard and long. Longer then EW3.)

What...the....hell? Bandos, last I checked, had like +1 a piece in the prayer department. Pros has like, what, 5 on the chest, 3 on the legs....Pros is highly highly superior to Bandos in terms of prayer bonus. And Bandos has significantly higher defence. If you want prayer AND defence, your best bet is Veracs. And, um, here's a link to kind of a guide on them, since I have no where near the slayer level for them and can't give any advice. http://runescoop.com/html/rs_BC0182_Dark_Beast.htm

Does miasmic's effect work on monsters?
Sir_Squab replied to mister_moocky's topic in Help and Advice
Huh. Keep in mind that it requires you to be on ancients for the boss (annoying with gw) and you'd need the spell to hit. Interesting idea for bosses though.... I'd assume it would. Hmm, this could - maybe - be useful for those crazy solo corp'ers. -
they could take away the highscores, and re-release them to thunderous applause too it seems. I'm glad we're forgiving, at least sometimes :D Didn't Coke-Cola do something like that.....?

No no no you have it all backwards. In the medieval ages, everyone was right handed. End of story. If you were left handed, you were ostracized by the community at best and punished somehow at worst. But chances are your parents wouldn't let you be left-handed. Anyways, they weren't trained to use their right hand to defend castle stairwells easily, castle stairwells were designed to be easily defended in your right hand. And even to this day, the concept of a left-handed swordsman is all but unheard of. Anyways, training ambidextrous swordsmen would be incredibly more difficult. Also, I always thought of ambidextrous as someone who could do things like write easily use both hands. Also, I should hope you play piano with both hands - I type with both hands yet I am definitely right-handed. As for bows, I'm under the impression that some people don't realize that the standard way to use a bow, i.e. the righthanded way, is to hold it with your left hand. You use your stronger arm to pull back the string, which can be difficult (especially with medieval longbows) and to aim. Jagex probably has us hold the bow with our right hand because that was the standard hand to hold a weapon with. This may have been ignorance (which I personally doubt) or just easier to program. Maybe at the time it just wasn't worth the effort to tell the game to put weapons animation or w/e where the shield animation should be? Just a thought. My kind of topic! Yes! "WE PAY WE SAY" "I WANT TO PK INNOCENT RUNECRAFTERS SO THEY CANT MAKE THE RUNES I BARRAGE THEM WITH OMFG." "OMFG TODAY RUNESCAPE DIED CUZ NOW WE HAVE TO PK IN A CRATER AND NOT IN THE WILDERNESS SAD FACE" And double weilding wouldn't be over powered if they added in a huge defence negitive. Like, most of the time your defence was normal, but it you got hit, you got hit hard because you have no sheild to block. That would be sort of like it would be in real life. If you were good, most of the time you would deflect with your other blade, but if someone got past your guard, that would be able to hit you for lots of pain. Sort of a negitive weapon special, like a barrow set effect. That's highly illogical. That would mean changing defenders from having a defence bonus to a negative defence bonus. Also, you'd need to have that same negative defense bonus when wielding no shield, or for that matter when wielding a bow... Okay... I have been a real life ranger (we call it archer actually, but whatever) for several years. And holding the bow with your left hand means you are RIGHT HANDED. I beg to differ. I am mostly left handed (tho I tend to hold a knife and tennis racket with my right hand, but everything else is lefty) and I find it easier to hold the bow with my left hand. Maybe you hold a bow in your left hand for the same reason you hold a tennis racket and knife in your right hand? Either that or your just the exception. No offense. Pretty damn sure it has to do with you being right handed, not right eyed....In any case though, people usually tend to favour one side of the body more then the other - typically the right side, as most people are right-handed. To be honest, what's the chances of someone being right handed and left eyed?

First article, about c-wars - love how the author says it's melee based...talk to other people who bring up how overpowered ice barrage is.... One thing I dislike about c wars is flag holding though...to my knowledge it wasn't fixed... As for the rares article, I'm not interested. I'm not one of the uber rich people in the rares market. The only semi-encouraging thing is that stuff like godswords are going down. Hmm. One of these days I ought to barrage there.

So, this is some idea I just started thinking about it. I can't stop thinking about it so I figured I'd write it down. First off, for F2P: Give them Mystic (perhaps a lesser form of this, but they need some type of real non-degradeable magic robes) ability to craft chaos runes (they still have to worry about revenants and the damned maze, whereas members can use the abyss or that non-wilde route with a different maze.) Boost the magic damage bonus of all normal magic staffs to 5%. No special ideas up there. Now: Rune Saving Enchantment: Not sure if this should be members or non-members, or where it should be obtained. Basic idea, there are 3 of these: hood, body, legs. You obtain the 3 of these enchantments (or just one of them if you want) and attach them to any magical equipment that you wear on your head/body/legs. This includes the Battle Robe set or Ahrims set. It saves the same amount of runes as wearing battle robes would (with a double chance of that when combining them WITH battle robes.) Add the SoL to this, and mages actually save a decent amount of runes. (I have no idea what to actually call this.) Some ideas on where to get these "enchantments" (not entirely sure on the name): FoG; Mage Training Arena; Mage Arena; Runecrafting Guild. Depending on whether this is F2P or P2P. Next idea: Rune-holding pouch (not sure on a good name for this either.) You unlock the ability to buy these at either FoG, the Mage Training Arena, the Mage Arena, or possibly the Runecrafting Guild. Not sure if this should be F2P or P2P either. Once you unlock the ability to buy them, you can buy them for a fixed, not too high amount - I'm thinkign 10k or 100k or something. This "Pouches" would be equipped in the arrow slot and would hold unilimited runes of two types. (Note: you have to PUT the runes in here. And I guess it wouldn't be unlimited, the limit would be the 2.3bil or w/e the limit is for the max amount you can have of a certain item.) And this brings me to my next point: combination runes. First off, give F2P the ability to make combination runes the way members do now - bringing a talisman along, a binding necklace so you don't fail, runes and rune essence. Members rune binding: You bring along all the runes you want to change into combination runes to the altar of the rune you want to combine them with. (I.E. Bring fire runes to the air altar.) A talisman might be needed or you could use Magic Imbue. And the important thing, a Rune Guardian of the type of rune you brought with you. (So, to make Smoke Runes, you bring fire runes, a talisman or magic imbue spell and a fire Rune Guardian to the fire altar.) Using the power of the Rune Guardian, between the "fire energy" and rune essence-ness of him, you can turn ALL the runes you brought with you into the rune you wish to make, or well combine it with. This makes combination runes much more useful (seeing as almost no one makes them these days.) You still need the runecrafting requirement to do this, but because you use the Rune Guardian, you receive little to no exp. Perhaps just a fixed exp for combining them no matter how many you combine. (This is to prevent it from being used to gain excessively fast exp.) If you want exp, you simply craft them the old way, with carrying rune essense with you. Lastly, two new combination runes: the Undead Rune (chaos and death) or the Necro Rune (blood and death.) Perhaps 70-75 RC for the Undead Rune and 80-85 for the Necro rune? (Also not positive on the names.) So, the idea behind this is to make P2P mage less crappy in general, and give P2P mages the ability to save a semi-high amount of runes, as well as not getting burdened with carrying multiple runes, (Unless your on ancients or something, but this still saves inventory spaces.)
