  1. This has already been posted twice here today, and plenty of other times on other forums I've visited. http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=723888 Rest assured that Jagex are well aware of this form of cheating. They have very reliable ways of tracking IPs and if too many accounts are coming from one IP, they'll investigate, along with character IPs that fluctuate too often. I'm sure there's lots of other methods they won't tell us about as well. IP banning and tracking is less reactive and won't be too prevailant. In addition to this, giving someone who steals credit cards your personal login information is just plain dumb.
  2. The thing that scares me most about the GE is the conundrum facing new items. Suppose that new Dark Beast thingy drops a new powerful weapon, who decides it's introductory price on the GE? Given that it would be uber rare to begin with, would the price stay extremely high until affordable demand brings the price down? Other than that concern, the only other thing I wish for is a little more variance being allowed when setting the price of your item. I've had 28 lavabattlestaffs on the GE since it was released. They started at 50k and are now 25k. Despite the fact that I remove them every few days and drop the lowest price, I haven't sold a single one. This is an issue I hope they fix coz clearly someone is able to sell them hence, the price drops lol

I think this has to be one of the longest working game titles ever. I remember reading about this two years ago. They're taking forever to develop it. I was pretty excited about the rumoured depth of the game, but have recently read that despite the incredible detail, that it will only take you about eight hours to fully develop your character? Dunno if that's entirely true or not, just what I last read.
  5. I really enjoyed that actually. I watched it in company so maybe it seemed funnier than it actually was.... Bourne Ultimatum was the last one I watched. I've already seen it at the cinema but watched the DVD last night. Great movie and a fantastic ending to the trilogy. I know they're talking about extending the franchise. I usually cringe when I hear this, but the Bourne series definately still has some milage in it yet :)
  6. I'm currently working towards the same goal. Last I checked they were worth 703gp each (four days ago). I myself don't intend to sell them though.... my range sucks, so I'm gonna work on that when I'm done lol. I currently have 27k chins saved and thought about selling them for a profit, but like I said, definately decided against it now. At level 94, I'm averaging about 100k exp per hour :) At level 80 I was easily clearing 80k exp per hour. .... just to give you an idea, the exp definately accelerates as your level improves.

  8. Fantastic article. Despite these hard handed tactics, I believe that the gaming industry will look back on this episode as a turning point in the battle against RWTs of intellectual properties that's been hurting all MPROGs. I imagine that Jagex will be studied by the entire gaming industry and they deserve a lot of respect and kudos for making such bold updates. Despite their sudden appearance, it's clearly something they've been working on for some time. I agree that the updates are far from perfect and will likely be tweaked, this is what makes it such an interesting subject matter for the gaming industry. They'll want to know just what limits are required to defeat RWTs and I'm sure they'll all be watching carefully. In the meantime, Jagex hasn't really suffered. There's about a 5% drop in players since the update, and most of them were probably bots and farmers.
  9. Why would I want to quit? Every gold farmer that being trying to ruin my beloved game has just been render obsolete. I'm absolutely delighted. Judging from the numbers playing today, the silent majority feel the same way. Best I can figure it, there's been a 5% drop in players today compared to before the recent announcements/updates. The majority of this 5% are probably the cheats themselves and the remained the minority who have decided to quit (many of whom will like return once the tweaks have been introduced)
  10. Jagex never release such specific information in advance so I doubt that it's true. However, it's probably a suggestion that's been doing the rounds and may have been commented upon by a mod or something. Either way, it sounds like this idea has merit and hope Jagex will incorporate something like this into the game.
  11. I agree with your post that PonP trading is now basically dead and requires immedate focus. I read a suggestion somewhere that your overall level (be it combat, total level or whatever), should have an impact on the amount you're allowed to deviate from the preset values. For instance, each combat level gives you a 0.25% variance allowance.... or something along those lines. This would give players who are clearly not bots or goldfarmers the chance to play close to the way the game was before. I think the communism comparison is harsh however. They're simply controlling prices to ensure that people aren't ripped off and aren't cheating. IRL, you would usually pay say 50p for a pint of milk... you wouldn't expect to find it at 10p and equally would be annoyed if you found some store selling it for 10bucks lol. Yes, this example is extreme, but it's what happens very often on Runescape. This latest control measure helps exclude that effect.
  12. I'd maybe suggest one of the great Overtures from the period or earlier. Something powerful like the 1812 Overture perhaps?
  13. Heaven is a Half Pipe - OPM
  14. Apparently, PC is poor experience since the update that splits levels into various boats. The fastest range exp is using Chinchompas at the Ape Atol. This method can be prohibitively expensive though unless you catch the chins' for yourself. Another fast method is using a cannon on the Dagannoths under the lighthouse. Again, it's pretty expensive unless you're willing to make the cannonballs yourself. The fastest conventional method I'm aware of is ranging the Ogres in the kings training grounds north west of Ardy. You can achieve 30k+ per hour there, whilst picking up some healthy prayer experience as well as some nice seed drops.
  15. I haven't been able to access RSOF for a couple of days. I assumed they'd switched it off for a bit due to droves of whiners. Maybe it's just server traffic that was keeping me out lol.
  16. I'm pretty certain that they WILL quit. The main reason is that there's dozens of other MMPORGs out there that are now much easier to make a living from. Runescape will simply be too much hastle for them now. The only bots we'll see are genuine players trying to cheat by using a macro on their existing character.
  17. This is a fantastic post. It's great to see that RWTs have finally realised that Runescape is now impossible to making a living from. What's even more awesome is that these cheats are now off to bug other MMPORGs. I think that in the months and years to come, Jagex will be hailed by the gaming industry as an original thinker and being one of the first games to truly kill off RWT on it's products. This is a great day for MMPORGs and a massive blow against the illegal trading of intellectual properties. Uber kudos Jagex.
  18. I haven't lost anyone yet. Everyone on my friends list that I've spoken with are really pleased with the update. My impression is that a small minority are making a lot of noise. That minority doesn't seem to include any of my friends thankfully. Most of them were sick of competing with bots for stuff like yew logs, and most were even more annoyed at not being able to sell their products at a reasonable price thanks to item flooding from gold farmers. I haven't spoken to all of my friends yet, so I'm sure some will be annoyed lol
  19. Great idea really.... I does need a bit of tweaking, but it might help alleviate some of these new problems
  20. I haven't had a lot of time to consider the new updates, but my first impression is that the "Get rich quick" and Cheating players are the ones that will suffer the most. (I'm not branding them the same thing). Seems that players who work hard and put the hours in are the ones that will benefit in the long run. With bots removed from the game, items such as yew logs, magic logs, pure essence etc... will begin rising in price once again, making it a worthwhile persuit for genuine players.
  21. There's actually a town called Scone near Perth in the UK. Dunno if it's got anything to do with this snack though. Maybe it was invented there lol. Strangely, the locals pronounce it at "Scoon".
  22. Yeah, expect to see this happen to other botting goods such as yew logs, hides, bones etc... Great to see really. It means that people will actually make money gathering these items again, through legitmate means this time. p.s. I'm so glad I bought 100k essence last week. I figured I might need it for summoning lol... maybe I will.
  23. I randoms are still required, but to a lesser extent. Some players may still choose to cheat by using a macro on an already established character. I'd say leave them in, but reduce how often they occur.
  24. Yeah, that's an awesome result for them. I expected them to win and even had money on it, but 4-0 surprised even me. Great to see Liverpool qualify again :)
