  1. After inspecting the GE chart, it got me surprised to, good for mage slayers though. Perhaps out of fear for the returning wildy, low(er) lvl rc'ers are double timing it at abyss, crafting death runes till they can start rc'ing astrals and nats. If they pick the intermediate blood runes to train on too, we might see a drop there as well.
  2. How does the Korasi sword fare on her? Just wondering, cause even with it launching a mage attack it has surprisable good results on otherwise strong to mage monsters.
  3. B, wolpers too tedious, not to mention you might have trouble getting the ingredients, as opposed to swamp lizards, which buy rather quickly.
  4. Are cannons allowed in the prison? If so, I'd say, position one at each mage and when she loses enough hp to let you kill a mage, activate the cannon at the mage that should go down in the best order (fumus-umbra-cruor-glacies). Due to the distances and Nex teleing around, whenever a mage is down, let the cannon positioned there keep on running for whenever she passes by there. Possibly a fifth in the middle of the cross arena. Now watch how cannons aren't allowed...
  5. Kuradal provides plenty of range friendly tasks, I've range slayed loads of tasks myself. You just need to bear with the some you shouldn't range (spirit mages, waterfiends, abby spectres, some of these are rangeable, but I prefer to not to spend too much money on range pot by meleeing them).
  6. All this 2008 player stuff should be viewed on an individual base anyway. The gullible ones, like you have in each generation, will be stuck with a problem if they're unfamiliar with the past. They're mostly the ones that already get trapped in pyramid schemes etc these days. But there's no need to call them prods. All the claims bout how we had it harder is something I disagree with. Games evolve, what seems like a prison to some, is like a liberation to others. Trivial issues made easier I welcome, but I'm not going to rant about it, then I wouldn't be doing it in the first place.
  7. There's a routine that works all the times, some guy on youtube has a good vid about it (runecapeshark or something).
  8. Replacing food with prayer might idd be a better choice. I remember also now how much soul split would come in handy, but I don't possess it yet. Besides strykewyrms there are definitely more tasks that can be dealth with faster with mage than melee. Remember, it's not only the hits that count, but also how soon you can attack them after the previous.
  9. Did you profit mage slaying? Cannon? What pots? What gear? What spells? (Not trying to hijack, but I'm considering mage slaying too and just want some input too, sorry OP D:, but I'll let you know what I find out outside of this topic :P This should be more or less on the top of my mind, as I've finished my goal recently. Let's see: Profit: Very variable on the task, but mostly you'll break even. It's going to be a alternation of losing money (e.g. dusties, hellhounds, ...) and gaining it back (mainly drags, so yaks would come in very useful). Rare drops like whips help a lot. If you're the type that doesn't skip tasks as lightly as I do, your slayer points will provide a big relief concerning death runes. Gear: - Ahrim top/robe - Arcane stream (seriously get this, the added damage is so handy) - Inf boots - Seer's ring outside Kuradal, fero in - SOL (unless you have a chaotic staff, but if money is at low, use SOL) - EEE (very important, mage slaying will expose you to more damage than usual, the def boost and healing it provides help tremendously lots) - Firecape / Ardy cape - Zammy book (dfs/dbshield for drags if you don't have super antifires) / Arcane shield (would be rather useful actually, more defence) Spells: Mainly standard book spells, always try and grab the highest. If you had to choose between fire wave and wind surge, I'd still go for the surge. However I can relate if you wish to degrade to a lower spell due to money cost (ever compared fire-water-earth rune prices? mix in the amount you need a spell and you'd be surprised). A wolpertinger comes in very useful, otherwise extreme magic pots if you have a good stash of them (BUT only if it boosts over 3-4 levels beyond the spell you're using). Don't resort to magic pots, not worth it. Basically what you're aiming at is to be able to utilize the fire spells as fast as possible (cheapest due to fire rune prices, I wouldn't be surprised if you had loads of fire runes already stacked up in your bank from slaying). For multi-combat tasks, use barrage spells, seriously doing nechs in ct using barrage decimates the time spent by lots. This is actually the only task I can think of you can barrage. Perhaps black demons in Taverly too, but I've never been there and them being 2x2 doesn't help (had them blocked for a long while). Food managament: High defence (90+) would be a good start for mage slaying, here's a short description of various mage beasts at the top of my head (also assuming typtical Kuradal assignment quantities): - Abby demons: mediocre, take sharks/rocktails with EEE, around 18. - Dust devils: high, these bastards hit a lot, one of the worst actually, take as much as you can (leave like 2 spots open for drops initially), pick up the kebabs. There's a very useful trick I've discovered in ct dusties. You have the rock separating the two zones, and there is a certain line (running west to east) such that if you stand on it, the most north dust devil will not attack you. Instead it just wanders around, this is a free kill. If you're in need of food, use it. - Hellhounds: mediocre, same as abby demons, they don't drop much anyways - Greaters: low, use sharks, bout 8 (with EEE in invent of course) - Gargoyles: high, pain in the neck, might consider just meleeing them or ranging them instead, mage hits good though - LRC: mediocre, magic hit them pretty good actually, but you'll need to resort to safespots which can be frustrating, the task is already long enough as it is I'm probably forgetting some stuff, but you can always ask me. Happy New Year btw.
  10. For some tasks, mage can be quicker than melee (greaters, dusties, abby demons, sometimes drags unless you compare to someone with cr, extremes and turmoil). It's a fun way to level mage and the charms you obtain aren't bad either, unless you really want to the best, which is rock lobs. PS: I'm 98 summ and I've never gone rock lobs. And I've lvl'ed 85 to 96 mage exclusively with mage slaying in one chunk cause I never got bored of it.
  11. I've used black sally a lot, but with mage slaying, I've turned to barraging through it all. I wear ahrim top/bottom, guthan helm (cause I have the rest in my inentory), inf boots, zammy book (might take something else like an arcane for more defence), sol, arcane stream, ardy cape (since it also boost stab). I use a dds for ahrim, try and piety him with leftover prayer from karil (which I barrage), it makes a big difference. In such view dclaws would be nice, due the time-spec-prayer drain mechanic.
  12. Having an EEE proves beneficial, and for some tasks also take some good high-level food with you (gargs, abby demons, dust devils, ...).
  13. Hopping "etiquette" in her dungeon, next numbers give you an idea of how many players a room can support, so you know when to hop: - helhounds: supports 2-3 people - greaters: 2-3 people - blue drags: 2 people - gargs: 3-4 people - abbys: 5 people - dark beasts: 2-3? (don't have 90 slayer) - iron drags: 2 people - steel drags: 2 people (3 if one or two are low lvls) Besides that, unlock the BJQ fairy ring if you haven't already (need to use 5 bittercap mushrooms on fairy ring). Quantities are higher than other slayer masters, which can be a bit enerving for lower lvls. Also... long time no see, we used to be in a clan together.
  14. I run ArchLinux, performance for me is better than with Windows, I also have less connection problems. I do have to play in safe mode (which I did on Windows as well), otherwise I get a lot of flashing (then again, my laptop is old).
  15. I kind of like revs, I kill them sometimes for fun (near CE and preferably a whole pack of them). They're more challenging at lower lvls. Thing is, or at least in my opinion, it really isn't that hard to evade them, and if you're annoyed by them... well, there are much worse things. Believe some of them also drop clues lvl3/4. A drop I would like to see added is brawler gloves drops, albeit more rare than in PVP (but due to my somewhat non-existant knowledge about PVP and about some game mechanics/economy, I'm probably stepping on some people toes).
  16. Melee seems to be completely out of sync with the rest of your combat stats. Now your maxed melee, try and apply some more ranging and maging (in slayer they're often good substitutes for melee actually, lrc are weak to both as well). Try and get range/mage to 70+ and go barrows with black sally, preferrably raise mage to ice blitz, so you can use more efficient methods. Farm lots more like the others say, you will not regret it.
  17. A vampire boss, I want to put that fully mastered Ivandis flail to good use.
  18. Consider yourself lucky, you still have plenty of quests to do and achieving your first 99 is lots of fun. As long as you aren't bored and have fun playing rs you'll get big eventually.
  19. PC with clan, you can also find groups on w144 whom you can trade to know the world they're playing in (have your fl on friends/private and after a while the world will likely get infected with lowlife... due to people not having their fl on friends/private).
  20. I use crystal bow till Jad, when I make use of the 2 hand cannons I have with me.
  21. With your defence level you're still better off using bunyips for wf's, the raw food drops will make you never run out of food, a bank is nearby as well. If you dharok them on the other hand :P. Aside from wyverns and tds you actually don't use them that much (still worth having them though).
  22. Smithing those 10k+ steel bars in Al Kharid to sell to large smithing "companies" (Futureprofit, ...). Yep, was my main f2p income.
  23. With the low price of gold ore, just use gauntlets to 70 smithing. As for the recovery specs, I never needed any, but with stew it might be worthwhile to take 2-3 just to not prolong the fight due to a missed spec.
  24. This, except for some real ridiculous situations (like perhaps in ct nechs). Imo, treat others as you like to be treated yourself. I don't mind giving advise to other players and I realise I'm a high leveled player. I'm not going to squable over resources for which I know there are better/empty worlds, I don't steal spots just to get a kick. If I try to hold a spot at some boss and someone tries to steal it of which I know I'm out of his/hers league, I'm not gonna start whining. If I feel I stand a good chance however, I will compete (to have them respect ma authoritaah). Especially when that resource is camped often.
