The point is not to totally eliminate cheating, that's impossible. But to keep it under control. But I agree that the staking change was really stupid and pointless. Maybe they did that change not to stop RWT, but just to kill staking, because of another reason.

Let everyone have a merry christmas!!!
highlanders replied to Yomyth105's topic in Tip.Iters Events, Groups, and Teams
I used to do this too. It all started when someone that became a good friend of mine gave me an iron set back in classic. :) Now, well, it's different... You give it to the nub, and then he goes "Can I have more?" and either spam trades you, or starts following you. They don't even say thank you. Most of them are like that.. -
It is a fact that more sympathy=more free stuff. People make up hacking stories to justify their begging. It's not because something is possible, that it is what it happened. It's a baseless assumption. No evidence, no cookie. Besides, when the hell did teary hacking stories become profitable? Not on Runescape anyway. :P He wouldn't be saying this if he was looking for presents. Since when do people give gifts to people they know won't even be playing to enjoy them?

As a side note, many of the one-letter accounts are not in the hands of their original owners. I heard of this a few months ago: A few years ago, the account recovery proccess was a lot less strict. As long as you invented a nice little story, they would give you the account even if all the recovery information was false. This is how many unique account names got in the hands of malicious individuals who then proceeded to sell them for real money, or use them for themselves. Everytime you see a unique account name, keep in mind that the odds are a lot higher that it is a stolen account, than otherwise. There's a couple of people with unique names I am certain are not the original owners of their account, but of course I can't name them.

He exaggerated his stats, that doesn't mean his story is automatically false. Just use logic and think about human nature. It's a lot more likely that he exaggerated his stats to make the readers even more sad for his [exaggerated] loss and gain more sympathy than it is likely that he invented the whole hacking thing for fun. Who would go up and invent a story about being hacked? Nobody, boring.

WoW in itself is a copy of other mmorpgs that existed before it. Blizzard didn't invent everything that eixsts in mmorpgs you know. -.- Pretty much all mmorpgs are copies. But once in a while a company will come up with a new element, or a new concept that wasn't there before.

Dueling Cap, Actually Well Justified
highlanders replied to 0m3gaknight7's topic in General Discussion
You cannot eliminate something solely on the basis that it can be addictive. Runescape in itself can be addictive, does it mean we should eliminate it? No. -
how can i pay back membership debt w/paybycash when..
highlanders replied to justeroniehh's topic in Help and Advice
That's a paybyphone message. Usually it happens when the owner of the phone line did not pay the phone bill exactly on time, and the phone service provider then refuses to pay the surfpin, and then surfin gives the charge to Jagex, which then removes credit on your account. Some phone service providers leave the surfpin charge alone even if you're late, others are more nasty. Anyway, if you never paid by phone, say like a month ago, then the message is an error. But good luck trying to get Jagex to fix it. -
Everything made perfect sense until this part, this part which also is the part on which the whole thing is based on. -.- So basically this guy is telling us that everyone that gets "cleaned" in the duel arena gets back on their feet by buying Runescape gold with real money. Now that's one arrogant claim. No doubt some people do it, but that's a mignority. That guy's wrong if he thinks every kid playing Runescape can afford to buy Runescape gold, or even has a credit card, people even seem to have trouble supplying the 5 dollars a month for membership. -.- This statement is made out of all sorts of lols. First off, the guy's wrong if he thinks people are ready to risk going to jail for fraud just for Runescape gp. Yes, and even more wrong to assume everyone who loses at the duel arena is stupid enough to create massive debts, while it is clearly their character, or playing style that is deficient. Only someone really stupid would do the same thing over and over again expecting different results. And the final blow, how exactly would your everybody guy find a way to create credit cards fraudulently, because you gotta be one heck of an expert to be able to actually create those, if that's even possible. When people refer to credit card fraud they mean people stealing another person's credit card number, not creating them, yep, even the profesionalls don't even try to create  cards, they just steal them. So really, I'll just ignore than nonsense and assume he meant stolen credit card numbers. Very little people can steal credit cards. Honestly, nobody would risk prison for runescape game money. If somebody has the technical knowledge to steal credit card numbers, they'd rather find ways to steal Runescape passwords instead. That's simply not how things work, god that is such a stupid statement. Jagex wouldn't get in trouble, at all. Why? It's OBVIOUS, the transactions with the stolen credit card numbers are with the gold farmers (million of little sparkles) not Jagex. The credit card company has no choice but to pay to the gold farmers the money, and usually ask the merchant (gold farmer) to pay a small percentage. And the person whose credit card was stolen may also have to pay a small fee because their credit card was stolen. But apart from that, the credit card company just lives with the losses, they make tons of money anyway, fraud losses don't really bother them.

That's exactly what I was thinking about.

They're just testing the grounds. If by example, they were considering putting Runescape on a console, a poll like this is a good method to know which consoles people own the most, and which kind of games they like.

So many talk of WoW as if it had invented everything in the mmorpgs and everyone copied it >___> The truth is WoW is a copy of things that existed before it, much like all the mmorpgs around today are copies of earlier stuff.

I predict that around 10 people are going to post about how you should stop whining, get over it or don't smith if you can't handle it, thus yet again ignoring that the rants forum guidelines say that this forum is made for ranting and that asking someone to stop whining is illogical considering that this is what this forum is for, no matter how much you don't agree with the reasons why they rant. But hopefully, this will be prevented by me reminding everyone of this. -.-

Overview of the "Rule Breaking Community"
highlanders replied to adsone's topic in General Discussion
I'm sorry but I have to be honest with you adsone, your topic is poorly researched. I could have come up with a much more informative topic about those cheating communities without even really trying. My suggestion is that you request this topic locked before further flamming, and go back studying the cheating communities and come back with a better more informative topic about these communities. I assume your point is to inform other players of what is going on in these communities? You know what would really be useful? That you go back into these communities as a double agent and try to understand how the password cracking programs work, the scripts etc, and thus, come back here with good descritions of these programs and then propose solutions. Don't critize jagex unless you have solutions. It's like saying that a method is bad, but without having a better method to propose. And if you don't have a better method to propose, then you can't prove their method is bad, see what I mean? Yep.. -
I think we need to get this clear with Jagex: the prices are not flexible enough. Adding to the price ceilings but more importantly lower the price floors of all items would help things go more smoothly. It seems Jagex decided to narrow the price ranges in a haft-witted attempt to make sure people don't merchant using the GE. I say shut up Jagex, and just fix the darn prices. People are willingly selling for a certain price, if a merchant makes money off their back, nobody cares, not even the seller which is just happy to have made his quick money.

Players have been asking for day and night since the dawn of Runescape. If you want to make a good update Jagex, then do that. -
Meeting RS people IRL - Your opinions
highlanders replied to @Dan3HitU's topic in General Discussion
Throughout the years, I've seen three people at my school play Runescape. All three looked like the typical description of nerd. One of them had very little height, chubby, had big glasses, would get picked on by other kids, had low self confidence, etc. The other two were tall, had pimples all over their face, spend their days talking about video games, and playing them, they had a horribly nerdy and ugly clothes, radically unkept hair, etc. Lol really, you don't want to meet people who play Runescape. -
No censors would mean total chaos and anarchy, aswell as tons of reports going into the system. That would be quite entertaining.
-
Lol, maybe there is going to be a "trash" where you can drag the item you want to delete instead of dropping it to appear on the floor. Jagex would kill drop parties, but there's still the party room. Lol, this makes sense. It might happen. :o

You know, there is always going to be excuses for everything that happens in the world. I could throw someone a snow ball with malicious intent, but the outsider eye could come up with some excuses of some sort to explain the act. What we need is evidence, not excuses nor assumptions, beause there is always going to be some. You could've tripped and the snowball randomly flew from your hands and struck him in the head. :D Ah yes, that's what happened.
