LEESTERS BARROWS GUIDE - edit 12 Jul 2006 (AOW discussion)
Leesters replied to Leesters's topic in General Guides
Hmmm... Seems to be some confusion here... let me clarify a little. When the Barrows started, if two brothers generated in the same room, they would "multi-attack" you at the same time. A bug fix was posted on the main site where "twins" were being generated. This was "fixed" by changing the multi status of the brothers, and they would then "take turns" on you if they were in the same room. This update lasted about a week, lol, and after the very next update the brothers reverted back to multi-attack style, which is where it stands now. So, yes. They will both hit you at the same time. If you have three in the same room, they will all hit you at the same time. I had to ecto once when I generated a Karil, went back through the door, generated another, went back through the door again (decided to fight the one that had damage already), #3, went back again (didn't feel like fighting two in the same room), #4, and went back again, (flat out panic) #5. (Now facing 3 in the same room.) So, when I had 3 Karils in the same room, and 2 waiting on the other side, that was it for me. PANIC BUTTON! Good news, I survived.. Bad News, long walk back while revisiting that "noob feeling" again. -
And I thought it was just me with silly superstitions. I see I'm not alone. Hello, my brothren! HYST! (Hey you superstitious Tipiters!) 1) I do not kill bloodworms at the Barrows, because their examine says "Better keep your distance". So I do. :P Don't wanna hurt my chances, ya know? Hehe 2) I wear ROW at Barrows. Can't hurt. lol 3) Maybe we get better drops from monsters when we are near dead. 4) Maybe we get better drops from monsters that have been started by one player, and finished off by another. 5) I used to use fishing pot when fishing to make myself fish faster. Then I learned that fishing level does not increase fishing speed. 6) If I'm not getting good drops, I'll remove the ring of wealth and put it back on. Just in case. 7) If I'm still not getting good drops, I'll log out and log in. 8) If I'm on a hot streak on Barrows, I won't stop until I cool down. 9) When auto attacked by other monsters, I'll still click on them to make sure I am in attack mode, and not defense mode. ( lol. That one is just plain silly, and a leftover from RSC days.) 10) When mining rune, I try to wear the least amount of armour possible. (Weighs you down. lol. silly again) Thats enough, right? lol

LEESTERS BARROWS GUIDE - edit 12 Jul 2006 (AOW discussion)
Leesters replied to Leesters's topic in General Guides
Its true, they are doing it again. There was a bug fix that fixed this, but now its reverted back. I've been meaning to send in a bug report, but never get around to it. Just be careful down there when there are two brothers in the same room, the WILL attack you multi-style again. -
EDIT:Barrows and Kill count NOT confirmed by Jage-X

Lol. So, now which one is right? Lets ask again, and see if one of those stories gets a confirmation, or maybe a third version will come up. lol Gotta love those minimum wage cust support folks. 8) -
LEESTERS BARROWS GUIDE - edit 12 Jul 2006 (AOW discussion)
Leesters replied to Leesters's topic in General Guides
Some threads are an exception to that rule. This is definately one of them. This is in the Archive of Wisdom, and those guides need to be bumped occasionally to stay alive. Its for the good of the forum. Mods, please dont lock this. lol -
And also, you can "sit" during your canoe rides.

EDIT:Barrows and Kill count NOT confirmed by Jage-X
Leesters replied to deangut's topic in General Discussion
Yes, let me clarify some things... 1) The Knowledge base does not clarify anything about increasing chances except for the fact that killing all six brothers gives you a better chance at an item drop. Other than that, it just explains what kill count is. This was fact before, and not in controversy. 2) The mods reply seems to be one of two things.... ....A) This could be a reversed reply, and the mod is mistaken. The standard response USED to say "Although the kill count increases your chance of getting better (not more) runes from the chest, we cannot confirm if it increases your chances of getting a barrows item." This means they weren't revealing any drop rate secrets, but are revealing that higher kill count improves your chances to getting bloods over minds. ...B) They have changed the script to finally reveal that kill count does increase the chances. I have a feeling this is true. They have been "not confirming" for some time, and they might have finally decided that the mini-game has been out long enough to give up some info on it. The mod's first section referring to "does not increase general drops" might be in response to the inquiries referrence to "number of runes" .....B1) The number of runes are a set range, and the "type" of rune drop you get is random. You will get either around 300 minds, 160 chaos, 80 deaths, or 40 blood runes from each brother drop, if they drop runes. You can get coins, around 35 bolt racks, or a rare item. The kill count increases your chances of getting a better "rune" 3) The only way to confirm this mod's reply is to see if other mods reply with the same "form letter" for confirmation on the new reply. So, more inquiries will be required to "double check" this. 4) My own stats proved to show a "significant difference" with a kill count over 20, compared from 10-19. The margin of error was 3%. Meaning there is only a 3 percent chance my data was wrong. (This is pretty good) I had enough numbers to make a statistical comparison that lowered that margin of error to a convincing figure. 5) If you read all this, you are now tired. :P -
Are nechs now more profitable then abbys.... ????
Leesters replied to buffrichie's topic in General Discussion
Oh, and on the market for the whip..... The market is speaking loudly... Now, keep in mind, the 100th quest put the abby whip production line on a standstill for probably a week or so, as everyone ran around the world doing that quest to get the gloves, so the price jumped up from 2.7 mil to 3.1. But since then they haven't really dropped at all. More people are getting slayer 85, yes. But even more people are getting 70 attack. I think we'll see a slooooooow decrease in price over the next year, probably bottoming out around 2mil. The ppl that get 70 attack are more transient than the 85 slayers, meaning they come and go more than the die hards. We'll see. The market will tell. -

On Fally Park 2, as of the last week or so, rune boots sell at the most 200k. There are a ton of sellers there, so if you get 200k for a pair, you're being very patient. I sell them for 180k each, and that sells fairly quickly, as everyone is asking for the 190-200k. I can get about 2 pair of rune boots per hour from the Nechs, but thats using a super set with a whip and Guthans to heal, so I can tear through them pretty fast. The herb seeds rock. Unfortunately no ranaar seeds, but everything above I'll never need to hunt for. I can't do abbies yet, so I can't compare, but from what I hear those whip drops are pretty rare, but we're still talking 3 million compared to 190k. Thats 16 boots per 1 whip. Lol. I'll still work for 85 slaying, thank you very much. :P Those death spawn demons are showing up in my dreams. _______________________ -

All programming and speculation arguments aside..... Bottom line: The auto-skull bug is fixed. Enjoy your 3-item safety. -

Leesters replied to tilly's topic in General Discussion
Nice pics! 1) I'm quite jealous of the fire cape. 2) First time I've seen a pic of an 88. 3) 72 whips is sick. 4) Enough already. lol. -
Lets hope that luck changes on slave day, master. ;) (If your bid holds, that is. Hehe)

Hehe.. Yeah, I'm not a big believer in "cosmos karma". As in, be a good doobie and the universe will be good to you. lol But I'm a big believer in "human nature karma". As in, be a good doobie and other people will be good to you. :)

The Golden Rule goes as this: "Do unto others, as you would have done unto yourself" Translated, this means treat other people just like you'd like to be treated yourself. For those advanced people, you can even change that to.. treat other people like THEY would like to be treated. That takes advanced empathy, but I digress..... In this game of Runescape, and in the game of life, this golden rule will give you Karma. Karma = What goes around, comes around. Here are some quickies for example from RS: ________________ I'm training with Dharok with the Gargoyles doing a slayer assignment, and a friend comes in to say Hi. I tell him that I'm out of food, and still need 5 more to finish assignment, and I have to leave and come all the way back to kill 5 measly Gargs. A stranger that has been ranging silently hears the conversation, and after my friend leaves, offers me a trade, and gives me 5 shark. I didn't know her. She didn't ask for anything. I accepted. I finished my assignment, and said "Thank you for the sharks!" And dropped a Mystic Robe Top next to her and left. Karma. Do nice things to people, and people will do nice things to you. ___________________________ I'm Slaying black demons with Guthan, and a player walks in to range spot and asks "Get anything good?" As he speaks, a rune kite from my victim. "Lol. Thank you! You just made him drop a rune kite, and its my first decent drop in 100 demons" "Oooo. Can I have???" "Lol. No." "Oh, you are rich, have full guthan and you still need 50k?" "Helps me repair Guthan" "Oh... what do you need to repair it from, your face?" Niiiiiiice. "That just got you ignored" "Haha, like I care" Of course, I didn't ignore him, and promtly started stealing his arrows. "Wt* you steal my arrows for? I know you like to jerk off with them, but...*snip*" "Thank you! You just got reported for abusive language! Enjoy your ban, and remember, treat people like you want to be treated, and you'll have better friends" His score dropped off the highscore list in 2 days. Banned. Karma. Be a jerk to others, and they'll be a jerk to you. ___________________________________________ Was slaying lesser demons, and I need two to train. Some girl comes in and starts trying to steal my spawns. Later, she says "Hi 118, nice dragon" I say "Hi rude person, nice manners" She says "I'm being rude?" I sensed her sincerity, and realized she didn't realize what she was doing wrong. I asked her if someone came in and tried to steal her training spot, how would she feel. She said "Oh, I get it!" She kept on her side of the room, and I kept on mine. I gave her a rune medium, and thanked her for listening. Karma. ___________________________________________ Killing KQ with a friend, and he's hating the fact that we're dealing with people that are trying to steal our kill. We go down there once, and someone is already there, and half way done. He runs over and pms me with "Come on, we can steal their kill!" He gets promptly chastised by Leesters saying "Thats not cool!" "You like it when YOU get YOUR KQ stolen?" "Come back here, and we wait here, and take our turn, or I'm leaving." He got the message. Karma. Think of how YOU would feel if what YOU are doing happened to YOU. ________________________________________________ If you follow the Golden Rule, generous cool people will be added to your friends list... in RS.... and in life. Thank you for your time, and please post your own Karma stories here. :)

Sigh. Okay, first of all the "bug" you heard about was when the things would drop 2 noted chains, instead of 1 regular one. That was fixed. Second, the drop rate is not published, not known, and any numbers given is just rumor and speculation. Third, the chances of getting one doesn't "add up" from one to the next. Q: If you flip a coin 100 times, and it comes up tails 100 times, whats the odds of it coming up tails on the 101st try? A: 50/50. A coin has no memory. Same applies to each dust devil you kill.

Bleah. Just because YOU are a self centered jewb, doesn't mean the rest of us are. If someone dies, and its million dollars worth of stuff, I'm definately tracking that guy down. The more stuff he loses, the more important it is to get it back. If you spend 400 million hours getting a phat, and you lose it due to death, wouldn't YOU like to get it back? People need to play this game, and the game of life, embracing the golden rule. Treat others like you would like to be treated. Karma will come into play. If you are a nice guy, your friends list will grow with cool, generous people. If you're a jerk, your friends list won't be so good. I could go on, but no one is reading this. lol.

Okay, that settles it. I'm gonna have to send a creative letter to the postbag. The fancy dress seller in Varrock is going to get something about that dang red cavalier hat! Maybe he'll give one up. :P

The thing about using the new bank while staying at the Barrows is this.... When you're at the chest, you hit the tele button and make your way back. When you're staying there and rebanking there, not only do you have to go around the Barrows entrance fence across the bridge, down through Mort'ton, jump over the fence, and then go back the same way, but you also have to run through the Barrows maze and find your ladder again. If you have Ghosts Ahoy and Search of Myrique done, I think its gonna be faster timewise to tele out from the chest and run back using ecto vial. And there is no altar at the new bank, and that nature altar is just too far away to save any time there, even with the shortcut. Try it. Open the chest with 100% energy, and time yourself. See how fast it takes you to get back to the mounds with all methods. You'll find that tele'ing out to Lumby, recharging prayer, and ecto'ing with the boat ride is fastest. And most likely, you'll only lose one food item at the most.

Congratulations on a nice RS career, and I'm glad to see you enjoying your youth in real life. You've been a great Tip.iter, and I hope you keep posting every now and again. You've been a great contributor on here, and although I don't know you in RS, I'm sure your friends will miss you. Please keep the fire cape. :P That should be the one thing left in your bank as you let your character die off. Consider it the thing you take with you to your characters grave. It is the ultimate RS accomplishment. Enjoy life, and continue being one of the good guys. Cya around here, I hope. -
The only thing you ever pk there is crickets. No one is ever there.

I wish everyones first post was as good. This will be a great topic. Kudos to the author. On topic, I like that fact that Jagex makes some rare items that are unbalanced. The whip is unbalanced. It blows everything else away. The new gloves are unbalanced. The stats on them are amazing. These were done for special occasions, though. The whip for a new skill of slayer, which was probably the most popular update in the last 2 years. The gloves for the 100th quest, which deserved to be uber special. I hope they stay "special" and I hope that they keep introduction of these rare, unbalanced items to a minimum.
