New combat requirement for the questcape

85 combat, not affecting me at all, being 89 combat. I am owner of a questcape and I think quests are a great addition to runescape; I usually do them first or second day of release without a guide. Yep that's me.

But now that I look at this 85 combat requirement for this new lunar sequel I have come to realize that to now equip that shiny white questcape you have to have 85 combat.

When I was level 67 and deemed myself a skiller I loved doing hard quests because they were a challenge to me being low level. I thought all the easy quests were beyond easy, so I seeked harder quests. I did Desert Treasure, Legends, Heros, and cleared all the "Plague" storyline(the only with like 10 quests) except for Mornings End part 2, which was yet to be released. Such fun I had in those days, watching a monster four levels higher than me that could hit double what I hit kneel before me. In my four months of being a level 67 I started the goal of completing all quests; it would be a nice thing to tell my friends and I would have access to virtually every teleport in the game(ectophial, ect.).

Unfortunately I did not continue on this journey. I stopped doing quests mainly because I was neglecting my non-combat skills, which I really wanted to train, and construction was soon to come out. I soon grew tired of being considered a "low level" by the community and then rapidly trained my combat levels. I am now a level 89, I earned the questcape on 89 and plan to stay at 89 for a while(like 67).

I knew alot of low/medium levels in my days of 67ing who also shared the same goal of all quests complete(remember there was no questcape back then). Now they would have their hopes crushed because of this one little quest released today, which requires 85 combat. I don't think there should be a combat requirement at all(I beleive there was another quest that had a combat requirement), jagex just ruined the whole challenge of questing. There is no challenge now, it is just beat the quest and you're done. Sure the quest can still be fun, but now ANY 85 can beat all the quests easily with the right equipment. I beleive there was another quest that had a combat requirement, and that should be removed too.

Now, officially, the combat requirement to earn the right to weild the questcape is 85.

Everything has requirements. I myself am not a pure skiller or quest lover (202 qp points, 1806 total, 121 combat) so I'm not at all affected by this. Yet, I think that there are always sacrifices to be made, and some pass through combat lvls. After all, quests aren't just passing missions - part of its fun is to train your skill sto meet the needed requirements, so I don't see how this is any different or could take any prestige off the owner of the Quest cape.

I had a quest cape at combat level 76 and everyone thought I was a pimp. Now I need to level up my combat to get my cape back, and it won't be very impressive anyway. Oh well, I'm an 84 at this point, so it's no big deal for me anymore.

=; idc, i think all capes should have a combat req.

way to go jagex  more high levels ftw!

You can't just neglect low levels now because you're high. Everyone was a low level once, and I'm sure you can remember the ignorant, rude people who insulted your combat level through your journey to the high levels.

Actually I have yet to be insulted for my combat level (103). And I agree that it should have a requirement, this is more of a high level update.

I know many low levels who, to be honest, are more mature and better at Runescape than you.

I think one of Jagex's main aims for RS is so that you have to be a high level (skills and combat) in order to take part and enjoy in all the elements of RuneScape. Jagex do not really like the idea of Pures and skillers etc because they only concentrate on one aspect of the game.

I guess Jagex could not have a Cb requirement for this quest, but even then apparently the quest's final battle is hard so would a 85 Combat person be able to do the quest anyway. Personally I have not done the quest yet but from what I heard, the final battle is challenging, even for 100+.

I'm 122 combat with maxed melee stats, and that was still a fairly difficult fight, even with using super set and guthans i used 5 sharks on the first form.

I think part of the reason jagex put it in was to make sure that lower levels wouldn't go in there thinking it'd be a fairly easy fight only to get killed. Part of the reason was probably to get combats up, but I can't imagine what it would be like for a level 70 to walk in there and try and beat the first boss (won't give away combat, seeing as quest is fairly new).

i dont really mind, but really is it that big of a deal, if you want the QP cape so badly you will get your combat level up, otherwise i guess your out of luck :P

When the day comes that a level 84 or lower could beat that quest is the day when hell freezes over. I found that pretty hard (first fear mostly) and i'm 118. I almost got koed twice by the first fear. I think the 85 combat level is a good thing to be honest. If I see a cape on a level 85 i'll bow to them because even that level is very hard to beat them.

Quit RuneScape :)

I'm 100 Combat and I had a problem with the final fight. I went through about 13-15 sharks on the first form, after that I only used about another 5 more, but it was still difficult. Even if Jagex didnt have the combat requirement on there, anyone below 85 wouldn't be able to do it. (I'm suprised if most people under 95-100 don't have a problem with it)

I know of a level 126 who died during the dreamland fight, so this quest is just hard combat wise. There are some quests geared towards skills, this one is just geared towards combat.

I do agree the combat level requirement is a dumb thing(They should replace it by a STRONG warning), but it appears this quest is near impossible or someone of level 85.. So it doesnt change alot of things, even if it does make the whole thing less fun..

Quest cape obtained at combat level 83, march 07.

I am not a member (in 3 days I will be) but from what I have heard that the battle is extremely difficult even at 100+ lvls. To me this tells me that Jagex is listening, barely, but still listening.

There will always be complainers and Jagex must be tired of listening to all sides: we need harder quests, we need more pk'ing options, we need RuneScape to be easier, we need less noobs, etc.

Of course with the majority of players being low in levels they will put more emphasis on such players while at the same time putting off high levels that want more challenges. Dream Mentor is the step towards balance and I support this decision.

Of course one could argue that that the raising of the combat level for the quest cape gives the person less honor it in fact does not. Having a min combat lvl is just another "rule". As long as you follow the rules you will be honored.

What do we need more, hard quests that requires a relatively high level or easy quests that could be beaten by a lvl 3? That is for you to decide.

Having a combat requirement is no different to having a skill requirement. For level 85 it takes around 70 atk/def/str/hits, and 50 prayer. They could have just given those requirements instead, and made it even worse for people who don't train defence.

Quests have requirement in all skills, this is one of the very few quests that actually has a combat stat requirement at all. It's about time they added one really.

i agree with the combat requirement a level 70 and a level 85 and a level 100 are different. and not many people under 90 have a qp cape anyway.
