September 9, 200718 yr Jagex have kind of started to sort this.... they have made it so if some words are spelt wrong they star them out. but you cant allways balme people. Its the way they type. Like me i type fast and dnt look, i dont want to spend 2 mins macking sure its all spelt propally! If i know somethings wrong ill change it if not oh well. The reasoon for this (to me) is casue when you type on rs you cant go back and change it with out selteing everything you have written! more bank space for non-members
September 14, 200718 yr for ppl with a problem with "kool" ppl only type it because the keys r so close together making it easier Note: some of my stats aren't in the hiscores and i only update em every once in a while.
September 14, 200718 yr English isn't my maternal language, but I am annoyed deeply if people don't even try. A few years ago, there was a Russian player named Snake Slavik, who was a long time the number 1 ranger. He could hardly speak a word english, let aside write, but he tried to form decent constructions. What I mean is that in RuneScape you don't really have to type every word fully, but the "leetspeak" or the weird talking like "plz do joo have mi swoord!" are annoyable. As for forums, in my opinion you should always try to form -in a way- decent sentences, spelling errors aren't a shame but there are so many ways to prevent them (example: search hard words translations on internetdictionnaries) or atleast try to minilise the errors. It sounds a lot of more work, but atleast you learn to write decent English which isn't unhandy.
September 14, 200718 yr A few typos is certainly excusable, because I occasionally do it, but something like this will land someone on my ignore list: "wil u halp me pls". When it's on accident it's fine, but when they're obviously either doing it on purpose, or not putting much effort into it, it irritates me.
September 14, 200718 yr I used to do it all the time when i was a noob :P Well the tip.it community has a very high percentage of good spellers purely because they use the forums alot and people like to type properly so its easy to read. I aways try to write full words if im not involved in something say like kq'ing. In the tip it communuty people are respected more if they type well so its an incentive for people to do it if they value other peoples opinions. Well thats my opinion : Sn'C Events Team Member942nd to 99 hunter 2/8/07|26,042nd to reach 99 fletching 27/10/07|Quest Cape Achieved 22/1/08|50,000th to 99 Cooking 29/10/08Dagannoth King Drops: 7 Zerkers 2 Axes 3 Warriors | Armadyl: 1 hilt first ever trip and kill | Barrows: 2 Dharok Legs 1 Ahrim Skirt 1 Torag Helm 1 Guthan Spear
September 15, 200718 yr Here's a list of words that irk the [cabbage] out of me: Plz Dis Dat Wif Wat Wot Kool Halp You are not the only one. I :ohnoes: bad spelling/grammar.
September 16, 200718 yr I hate it. I cannot stand watching people who just can't type properly. You can easily cut the crap and type a sentence properly, it takes a little longer to add a few letters so what you are saying is easy to understand. Dis iz nt ezy 2 understand. This is easy to understand, and doesn't take much more to type then the aforementioned. I fear, as the Runescape community becomes more and more immature, the grammar will fall even more. Really, how am I supposed to have a conversation with someone when I spend half my time trying to figure out just what the hell they have written. By typing out your grammar properly you also come across as someone who seems more mature because they actually bother to think and be able to hold a proper conversation rather than a few word unrecognizable words. You do yourself no favors by typing like a dyslexic chimp with half a brain. [Tip.It Mod][Retired][Add your Steam name here!]
September 17, 200718 yr Well, I dislike the idea of people not being able to put in another 2 letters. Also, some people that spell words so badly you can't understand them are complete idiotic freaks. E.G: Fux of u n00b u likez menz. Pisses me off so. I dont need a siggy no moar.
September 17, 200718 yr The little things seem to annoy me more. Confusion of certain words especially There and they're and their have and of (for goodness sake, how can you confuse these??) it's and its than and then I see this so often in the forums (or is it fora?), it can't be a quick typing thing, they're mostly the same length. Is it laziness or basic ignorance? regards Teeg

You do yourself no favors by typing like a dyslexic chimp with half a brain. I have to agree with you on this point. It all comes down to this, the better your grammar and spelling, the more mature you sound. This isn't an age bias. If you take the time to put your words down in an intellegent way, other people are more likely to take stock in what you say. I'm a married mother that plays RuneScape. Got a problem with that?
September 18, 200718 yr I am with Ash on this one. If you sound like a prepubescent spastic moron who cant even string words together, it does not matter how smart or old you are, people will act like your a prepubescent moron. But if your a 12 year old who's in Jr High and type like and English major or close to it) people will treat you like someone who deserves their respect, because you act the part. Remember, you only get one first impression.
September 19, 200718 yr An abbreviation every now and then doesn't bother me, it's only natural when on the internet. But when people start to go out of their way to make even the simplest sentences ridiculously hard to read to all but the most accomplish "1337-speaker" that's when it really, really starts to get on my nerves. I literally wish I could reach through my computer screen and slap some sense into them. Ex. of something that doesn't bother me too much: "Hey can you plz help me with something? Ex. of what I hate: "u hlp m3 wit dis plz?" *Shudders* =; Pirate Rosetta stone. Learn a language while you scape.Sounds interesting, but these days how many people really speak Pirate?
