Elessar3019
I don't know how many of you have played World of Warcraft of Neverwinter Nights, or Guild Wars, or any other MMORPG for that matter. No doubt, if you have played these games, you've noticed the astoundingly realistic graphics in those games. Now imagine if you could couple RuneScape's depth with those graphics - cool, right? What would the barrows tunnels look like in hi-def graphics? What about the wilderness, or Keldagrim? Or even better, Meiyerditch, the Vampyre city? Now my question to you is: would you be willing to pay a one-time fee of, say $20 or $40 to buy the game, much like you would buy WoW or NWN, to be able to have those graphics in RS? I know I would, but I want to know what you guys think. So post away, and please don't say "Oh, that'll never happen, it's a Java-based game." This thread is purely hypothetical, which is why I didn't post it in the "Suggestions" forum. EDIT: changed from "Javascript" to "Java" by popular request. perfect grammar is one thing, typing like a drugged monkey and enjoying it is anotherAMEN! wakka102
If i was still playing the game I'd fork it over in a second. Since I seemed to spend lots of my free time here, 50$ or so isnt bad.
andy_matthews
I dont care. I like the graphics the way they are. I would NOT pay $20 or $40...
darkpoet837
I sure would. It would be even better if they offered a short time mems subscription with it, or even a discount. Then again, that would require a whole revamp, so I dont know. :-k Hard choice :-k [hide]Come, be my light.Mingle with my darknessMay we mix to createOur own twilight sunsetThe dusk breezeSpreading cloudsOn our murky horizon~Darkpoet837~[/hide]
stevepole
I'm sure I would pay a one time fee to play runescape. I just would hope they would expand the map to make the world bigger.
Capone_Sabre
If I cared about graphics I wouldn't still be playing the game after 6 1/2 years and I wouldn't miss RSC. :P Personally I wouldn't want better graphics. With games I find that as graphic quality goes up, the average IQ of players goes down. And vice versa. The average age/maturity level of RuneScapers fell through the floor after RS2 was released, it might get even worse. skeroh
I think the graphics are alright as they are. One thing I like about RuneScape is that it's an online game that uses a web browser, not a patch system some other games. I really hate waiting for patches to load and updates etc. Retired from runescape. I will be on every now and then though. :)
highlanders
Definitively. But good graphics, not like world of warcraft, that's way too old and ugly. 2480+ total

kinsaka
Ive been playing rs for quite awhile and on several acounts, taking breaks from it to play guild wars, first then i moved to wow. But i still come back here. It would be an ok change but i like the amount of hardware req rs takes. i can run almost every program i have and play rs too. Also as ive done work for 3d games for friends, i can say the amount of work it would takes is tremendous. (sorry if my post is out of wack i just got off a 21 hours shift at work ) I just came back from a long break. Back on bob.

But maybe, I think it might look pretty cool, but it I might miss the old clunky graphics of Runescape. It is more about the gameplay for me, not the graphics. warriormen92
one of the things that makes rs dif from other mmorpgs i that first, it is free as long as you like, and second, thats it does not try to have good graphics at all like its been mentioned before, i would miss the old graphics, the same way i miss the graphics of rsc and wish i could go back to those days. Makoto_the_Phoenix
A one-time fee, right? So I wouldn't have to pay monthly? Actually I'd do it, if the monthly fee was kept the same. Oh, and don't doubt the power of Java when it comes to graphics - it just takes a bit more processor power/RAM to do it, but it can be done. :) Linux User/Enthusiast | Full-Stack Software Engineer | Stack Overflow Member | GIMP User...Alright, the Elf City update lured me back to RS over a year ago. Master_Smither
I would never play something like WOW i would get perm banned right away! I would not pay $20's amonth either thats crazy! Leave rs the way it is because back in 2004 when i started peopel where more mature even though the graphics weren't too good but i liked them. Toxicologist
Yes, I would. I really enjoy new graphics, and having beautiful scenery and stuff really appeals to me. I do, of course, value gameplay even more, or I wouldn't be here. Why do you resist? Celt23
Better graphics would be good IF they did not interfere with the gameplay or its accessability through a web browser.
Artemis_42
Sure, i'd pay that and the standard monthly fee for runescape to have improved graphics. It would go a long way in gaining some respect from the majority of the gaming comunity who only care about the graphics and couldn't care less about gameplay. Just so long as they kept everything else that way it is. "Those who know nothing, can understand nothing" - Ansem, Kingdom Hearts
