July 16, 200719 yr Someone probably already beat me to it but... "Oh, that'll never happen, it's a Javascript-based game." You made the programmer in me vomit. Anyway, one-time fees are peanuts in the long run, so if I'm planning to play for a long time, sure, I'll pony it over. I am a tree.
July 16, 200719 yr if runescape were an offline game, graphics would be a must, but since its an mmorpg, it really needs to the graphics it has now so those w/ slow internet dont slow us w/ fast internet down... i think runescape is fine just the way it is. though they could add a little variety to everything...
July 16, 200719 yr A ONE-TIME payment? I'd buy it for 100$ Probably. I don't have anything better to spend my money on. For the continual service of what we receive it's easily worth a one-time payment of 100$ considering most of us have spent more on members since we joined TIF. I'm not sure if I'd like the non-java-based graphics. I think they really add to the effect.
July 16, 200719 yr Wow, I can imagine the abyss! =P~ That'd be great, but I wouldn't pay more than ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã10 a month because WoW is ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã7.70 and the only difference would be the gameplay. Click my signature for my blog!
July 16, 200719 yr Well i would also have to buy a new graphics card which would cost a lot of money and paying for membership would also cost more. If they did that they might decide to take away the f2p version :ohnoes: [/bads]
July 16, 200719 yr the answer to all those questions is no 1-Im not forking over ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã50 for this game might aswell get wow 2-I would hate it if it was like wow because there is no tutorial your just dumped on an island and have to figure it out yourself 3-The bad graphics make rs easier to undertand
July 16, 200719 yr I love gameplay, graphics arent that important to me... Thats why I have a Wii :D You must not underestimate the power of Java young Skywalker...
July 16, 200719 yr when you think alot of you have been members for years, so when you think of a ONE TIME only fee of 20$...it isnt alot. Let your yellow mellow.
July 16, 200719 yr Assuming that my PC could run it much the same as it can run the current RS (no difference to the amount of lag I recieve, frame rate dips the same as usual etc) then I'd be glad to pay so long as I could see some screenshots before I coughed up. Who knows who talented Jagex's staff are when it comes to high poly models and hig resolution textures, also would they be adding a more advanced physics engine etc. My Blog To 87 Construction
July 16, 200719 yr I'm fine with the graphics the way they are... They're decent..for the fact that there's f2p
July 16, 200719 yr Definitely. If Runescape had the kind of graphics WoW had, nobody would play WoW anymore. I would buy the game for certain. Noted raw mackerel drop... Wtfh? Always buying: Watermelon seeds, 2K each. Strawberry seeds, 800 each. Contact Via PM on forums.
July 16, 200719 yr Lol, after everyone ranted about the graphical updates to cities things would be a disaster. "I can't tell my swords apart! I have to waste 2 seconds right clicking them!" "I can't tell which cities are which!" etc... [hide=]tip it would pay me $500.00 to keep my clothes ON :( :lol:But then again, you fail to realize that 101% of the people in this universe hate you. Yes, humankind's hatred against you goes beyond mathematical possibilities. That tears it. I'm starting an animal rebellion using my mind powers. Those PETA bastards will never see it coming until the porcupines are half way up their asses.[/hide]Apparently a lot of people say it. I own. http://linkagg.com/ Not my site, but a simple, budding site that links often unheard-of websites that are amazing for usefulness and fun.
I hate Javascript, I remember making a website for an assignment in college than they made me put some Javascript in, completely uglified it. Anyway, the majority of the RS community doesn't know the difference between Java and Javascript, most people only know the consumer side to computing, sad but true. My Blog To 87 Construction
July 16, 200719 yr What about all those unfortunate people who retreat to RS when Wow and other graphics intense games are giving them no end of trouble? RS provides a valuable service the way it is now.
July 16, 200719 yr So post away, and please don't say "Oh, that'll never happen, it's a Javascript-based game." ^ Lol.
July 16, 200719 yr The initial cost is just half of it....it's the $15 a month for supporting those graphics that puts me off games like WoW. Besides, I like the graphics of RS, some some strange reason. Gameplay > Graphics, that's what I always say.
July 16, 200719 yr I think the graphics are great considering what it is. Going for better graphics, you'd lose your ability to access it from anywhere (probably won't be able to install it on every machine you want to use). For me, I'm too cheap to pay for members #-o , so why would I pay for better graphics :?: :?: WARNING: Prone to ramble ... but you probably already know that!1% F2P : 99% RL
July 16, 200719 yr I would stop playing at that point because the hi-spec graphics would mean I'll need to get myself a new computer and getting a new computer to play the latest and greatest game isn't a justifiable expense. Plus, the advantage of RuneScape's system requirements is that you only need an Internet connection and an up-to-date Java Run-Time Environment and you can log on wherever you want. July 16, 200719 yr Maybe. If it was like NWN2, with RS depth and gameplay, while being completely online, I'd fork out the money to play it. Of course I'd need to buy a new computer also, as my laptop doesn't even run the single-player Neverwinter Nights 2. :
July 16, 200719 yr I wouldn't; chopping trees for days doesn't become more interesting in high def graphics. Now you can read forums and do other things, but I don't think browsing forums and quickly switching back to a 3GHz game is recommendable. Also, the RS combat system sucks compared to the other games so it will get a lot of competition from Wow and the like. Retired 2146 overall - 136 combat - 6 skillcapes Plus I think the whole teenage girl thing will end soon (hopefully), because my girlfriend is absolutely in love with him(she is 18), and im beginning to feel threatened by his [Justin Bieber] dashing looks.
July 17, 200719 yr Author Definitely. If Runescape had the kind of graphics WoW had, nobody would play WoW anymore. I would buy the game for certain. This is exactly why I made this thread. I have several friends who base the excellence of a game on the graphics it has. Needless to say, they play World of Warcraft. Thus, if RS were able to rival WoW as far as graphics go, we would have tons more players. perfect grammar is one thing, typing like a drugged monkey and enjoying it is anotherAMEN!
July 17, 200719 yr Already made man... Called Elder Scrolls... 99 Crafting :: 39,750th || 99 Attack :: 1,775th
July 17, 200719 yr Less artwork and better gameplay make Runescape a good game. I prefer low detail gameplay to excessive flashing detail. If I want scenery, I'd just go outside. # 1101 to 99 range on 12-18-0585 slayer on 12-18-05 with combat at 102; retired from members since Feb 06.Back since June 07. 2000+ total.
