July 20, 200718 yr We've all seen them at one point. Those players who say a rather long sentence and then a couple of seconds later, say it again. Now, these people are either very fast typers or they are using an autotyper program. To some players, these players should be reported for 'being macroers'. But I believe that using an autotyper is not macroing. In my opinion, a macro is a program designed to help you do certain RS tasks, such as woodcutting, essence mining, flax gathering, etc. These macroers are the ones we despise, as they are making the game unfair to the genuine, the honest, players. They are driving the RS market crazy, and more appear every day. Now, an autotyper. All it does is repeat a message every so often, saving the time of typing it over and over again. They generally annoy people, as they result in a flood of messages, but otherwise pose no real threat. Basically, what I am saying is this. We should not report autotypers, as they are causing no real harm. We should, however, report (and even kill) the real macroers, as described above. What are your views on this subject? July 20, 200718 yr I believe auto typing falls under macroing, because you are using an automated program to do something for you. spamming however, falls under offensive language.
July 20, 200718 yr I always report them. Why should they get the advantage of not having to kill their wrists like the rest of us? :notalk:
July 20, 200718 yr Yes you should. They're text is constantly in the screen without falling down. I report most auto typers.
July 20, 200718 yr Author Hmmm, well. You all have some good points. But I generally don't report autotypers. To me, all they are doing is flooding the screen, which doesn't bug me. If you are in Seer's Village bank on a busy server - messages go by so fast, you hardly notice the autotypers. Retired from RuneScape as of November 10th 2007. July 20, 200718 yr Rule 7 - Third Party Software, Runescape Website: You must not use other software to gain an unfair advantage in the game. This includes, but is not limited to the following third party software: * Software that attempts to communicate directly with the RuneScape game worlds. * Software that monitors, modifies or decrypts the communications between the RuneScape applet and the RuneScape worlds. * Software that generates input to the RuneScape applet. If you are in Seer's Village bank on a busy server - messages go by so fast, you hardly notice the autotypers. You can spot them using wave/color really fast. :| They also have a certain time incrament. And when they arn't typing, they have horrible spelling compared to the text they're using for the auto typing program.
July 20, 200718 yr Author Bah. Oh well, I guess I really should have thought this through. Time to report some autotypers, I guess! \ Retired from RuneScape as of November 10th 2007. This is what I am doing now. | My Website | My RuneScape Programs
July 20, 200718 yr Macroing - Any programme which gives you an advantage over other players. Therefore autotypers are macroers, I report them when I can, but it seems Jagex are just too busy to deal with them, I've never had a message back from Jagex after I've reported an autotyper. They sure as hell deserve to be reported, how is it fair that they can spam the chat screen with their item that they're selling 5 times faster than I can do it by typing honestly? I wish someone would just pour petrol over all of these macroers, just before I casually throw a match over my shoulder.. -.- Sad, cheating on an online game..
July 20, 200718 yr i used one once (i hate a serious hand injuri so i couldnt type normaly) but then again, pausing, editing and waiting to say something because of the threat of bbeing reported, takes time and therefore normal typing is easier ~rirlak the supreme~
July 20, 200718 yr Go in any of the big selling worlds and your screen will become covered in the repeated messages of the autotypers, report them, do what you can to, as they are breaking rules, and too lazy to type. Heres a nice story for you as well, someone who used to be a friend, i deleated them, told me a couple of months ago that they downloaded one of those autotyper programs, i was like...not impressed and told them so, there was a silence, then they said they had been hacked, all their gp gone, barrows items etc etc, after running anti-virus etc he found a trojan-keylogger that was installed in the said downloaded autotyper. If you have got this far....then im sure you can suss what the moral of the story is...Cheats never prosper.
July 20, 200718 yr Author I don't use an autotyper myself, if anyone is thinking that. I've now had a change of heart on this whole issue. I will report autotypers when I see them. I only cheat on PC and PSP games. I don't call myself the Tips Guru on YouTube for nothing. Retired from RuneScape as of November 10th 2007. July 20, 200718 yr You say that "In my opinion, a macro is a program designed to help people do certain RS tasks". Isnt typing an RS task? Tumblr. Follow me!
July 20, 200718 yr Author You say that "In my opinion, a macro is a program designed to help people do certain RS tasks". Isnt typing an RS task? I don't know whether that is a joke or not. July 20, 200718 yr Just be careful not to report someone who is merely a fast typer (like me). Pretty much what Dragon said.Thread terminated.I guess that means I'm the thread Terminator? No Tip.Iters were harmed in the making of this post.
July 20, 200718 yr Author Just be careful not to report someone who is merely a fast typer (like me). I'm a fast typer too. I wonder if anyone has reported me for 'being an autotyper'? Retired from RuneScape as of November 10th 2007. This is what I am doing now. | My Website | My RuneScape Programs
July 20, 200718 yr Report them, they are breaking the rules ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâò It is really obvious when they type the same message, in the same colour and in the same time interval. Just report them, it's against the rules. - Back to casual f2p scaping due to limited time (university and girlfriend ) -
July 20, 200718 yr I'm a somewhat fast typist, but we can get around being suspected for auto-typing. Just alter the message slightly, or make mistakes on purpose. Don't be fully accurate, it's not that hard. You have no idea how powerful words are....until they hit you in the head.
July 20, 200718 yr Yes. It's macroing. Hyt Chat FOREVERI have quit RuneScape. I have posted on the Leaving sticky saying so. Goodbye."Too late... my time has come... gotta leave you all behind and face the truth."~ Freddie Mercury ~
July 20, 200718 yr I must say that I disagree with you. I'm a merchanter, and I often hang out at the most popular F2P banks, doing merchanting. During these times I see autotypers almost every second. And they irritate me ALOT! They use a program to do what they're to lazy to do themselves. This causes alot of extra problems to the other, hard-working, non-rule breaking merchanters. Whoever said that merchanting is easy is wrong. While merchanting you often get problems with scammers, beggars, noobs and alot more irritating people who just want the money that you have worked so hard for earning cash. I don't accept this. And to all this there is auto typers. You say that they don't cause so much harm, don't you? Let me tell you this: They do. Right now I'm standing outside Varrock west bank. There is 1 auto typer here right now that's selling a rune (g) kite for a pretty high price. This is not only irritating. The most important thing to why you ALWAYS should report auto-typers is that they make the honest, non-rulebreaking merchanters less heard in the auto-typers spamming of messages. Yes, I hate auto-typers. And I got alot of reasons to do so, and I have tried to state the most important ones above. I hope that I have my point clear when it comes to auto-typers. But even if you still haven't got what I have tried to say, I will state one, final time for you: ALWAYS REPORT AUTO-TYPERS! Add me if you so wish: SwreeTak
July 20, 200718 yr According to Jagex this is not reportable, as its nots spam bcos its game related chat (not random jibber jabber@@@@@@@) and its not macroing because they actually at the keyboard and cant be detected so easily anyway. Yeah...Some people just go out of their way to ruin other peoples fun.Sounds like Jagex to me...
July 20, 200718 yr If you're replying to me, I'm not saying which side I am on in this discussion, just saying how to not get reported for auto-typing by mistake, if we're fast typists. My opinion is that we should report auto-typists for either rule 1)offensive language/spam or macroing, whichever seems most appropriate at the time. That's my view. You have no idea how powerful words are....until they hit you in the head.

May I assume that by your avatar you're a mod? Ahem.. What is flooding the chat window? Spamming/flooding the chat window is to fill the chat window with unnecessary text. This is also an offence and is disruptive and unfair on other players as it makes it more difficult for them to communicate and trade with each other. The last mod I spoke to about this (when I was f2p) said that flooding the chat with trade could also be reported under unnecessary text.
