GodSword vs. Abbysal Whip

I believe it might be a bit stronger than the whip but you'll have to pay a heavy price to use it. Just like the god spells. They're stronger than most of the normal spells but you have to spend about 300K just to unlock it, then you have to spend 80K just to use the staff which is the only staff it works with. Finally you have to spend so much on the runes needed for the spell.

Maybe the Godsword will have to be 'unlocked' too somehow, maybe by finishing the dungeon or a minigame. After that the weapon might be very heavy or may even drain some of your stats (saradomin drains attack-Zammy drains Def-Guth drains both?)

OR it might just be a quest item like Excalibur which we may never even use -.-

you've brought a good point... twice! it could be a future quest item for this insanely hard quest that requires you to have it, but it could be like the god spells. i've also noticed: first the spells and staff, then the sword, i can almost be certain that there is gonna be a god ranged weapon

Currently will be using my Oni Tsurugi account to attempt to get 99 on all free skills without spending any gp, just for the sake of doing so.

We have nothing with which to base our comparison on. For all we know, this "most powerful sword in the game thing" could simply mean that it is powerful; like +160 attack and +140 strength, but two-handed and slower than a halberd. Even though it is powerful, obviously that would not make for a well-rounded weapon. OR, it could mean just what it says. "Most powerful sword in the game", and the abbysal whip is still stronger; but the godsword can train strength

Perhaps, theres some crazy-as-hell minigame you need to do, and its nontradable, so it doesn't DESTROY the eco.

I pity the fool who buys it 1st chance they get. The dbow when it 1st came out was 30m ffs. Now, 3.6m. Some idiot lost allotta money

Hypothetically, if the Godsword were indeed a non-tradable, super-powerful weapon, I guarantee you there would be a lot of PKers quitting. There are already a lot who have thrown in the towel because of the defenders, torsos, ect.

The God Sword being better than the Abyssal Whip is a definite in my opinion and i think it will be high Requirements to use.

Come on arguably the best Melee Weapon in the game is the Whip currently and you only need to get 70 Attack for it and with every one still complaining about High Level Updates in my opinion theres no chance of it not being better than a Whip.

Incredible loot, ancient boss-monsters, extinct species and one of the most graphically intensive updates of the year will leave you begging for a nice simple goblin* to kill.

Nothing is said about a new weapon....I'm starting to think this Godsword will be useless :wall:

My first point: God Sword. Not Gods Word.

̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¦Ã¢â¬ÅMy friend...You were right to send me to investigate the dwarf's drunken claims, for I have discovered a treasure beyond our wildest dreams. The aviantese are alive and I suspect they still guard the Godsword!

Notice they said "They still guard the Godsword". If it were a prayer, I would expect them to say "They still guard Godsword".

On the german version, they said they still guard the "G̮̦̉̉tterschwert". That translates into "God Sword". In order for them to mean the "Gods Word", they would have to have written "Gotwort". "Gotwort" is much different than "G̮̦̉̉tterschwert".

My second point: Best weapon

̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¦Ã¢â¬ÅMy friend...You were right to send me to investigate the dwarf's drunken claims, for I have discovered a treasure beyond our wildest dreams. The aviantese are alive and I suspect they still guard the Godsword!

Notice the parts in bold. It says he discovered a treasure beyond their wildest dreams; the Godsword. Wouldn't this lead you to believe the Godsword was a good weapon, and not some bad weapon like silverlight?

For many centuries, legions of unique creatures lay frozen in time, locked in a battle that began back in the Third Age of RuneScape.

The third age. If these monsters were from the third age, wouldn't that lead you to believe that their drops were from the third age too? And aren't third age items very powerful? Look at third age armour.

Inside their icy tomb, relics from the most destructive period of history have defrosted and resumed their grisly battle... Incredible loot, ancient boss-monsters, extinct species...

Incredible loot. Not bad loot. Not good loot. Not even great loot. But incredible loot. Last I checked, incredible loot didn't mean a crappy sword.

As my last point, I would like to say this:

Doesn't the Godsword sound Godly, or mighty? How can a sword of the gods not be powerful? It has the word God in it's name.

And for those of you saying the Abbysal Whip sounds better, Abyssal whips are dropped by Abyssal Demons. Dont gods vanquish demons?

Abbysal Demon = evil. Gods [usualy] = good. Good always > evil in kiddy stories. And face it. Rs is turning into a kiddy game.

Jagex even made an add for the freakin dungeon!

Wait, What if it that new prayer that is supposed to come out? :-k

I already pointed out why this isn't the case. Read my post on the previous page.

------------------------------

Is it me, or does the term GodSword give the feeling that it's a HUGE two-handed sword which could obliterate anything... if only we were strong enough to pick the damn thing up?

like this?

0000.jpg

you would have it trailing around on the floor its that heavy.

Am I the only one who thinks that looks like a sword that would be on bleach?

I agree with you on all points but that one. Incredible loot could mean pretty much anything. If it were talking about the Godsword it probably would've said Incredible NEW WEAPON. It's probably just some good item drops that already exist in the game.

I wasn't saying that the incredible loot had to be a great sword. I just meant that it could include it.

Ok, here's what I think is going to happen,

By incredible loot, what's going to happen is someone is going to walk in and kill the first thing they see and get a dragon chain drop, walk up to something else and kill it for a pair of dragon legs.

Its going to be a great sword, I'm sure of it, but Jagex has been trying to screw us over in the econmy(sp?).

Well, those are my thoughts in the matter, and, watch as the update comes out and I'm right, good chance of that happening though...

Meh...

Everything you just said is wrong. You expect the first person to walk in there will kill 2 monsters, and get a d chain and d legs? I'd bet everything I have in runescape that that is complete [cabbage].

And since when is jagex trying to screw over the economy? You've probably been playing rs for less than a year.

First off, those are my thoughts, you haven't been there, I haven't been there, noone knows.

Second off, I've been playing on and off for 3 and a half years.

Third, I didn't mean screw over in a bad way, by screw over I ment there trying to take money out of the economy.

And Fourth, The time spent playing means nothing, I have a real life friend who spent weeks and weeks studying this game before playing it so he would know what it was like because he hates asking people for help.

I apollogise for what I said. I misunderstood what you said. I'm sorry for saying that.

Anyway, I doubt jagex would make yet another monster that will drop the dragon chain/legs.

Dragon pickaxe/boots/plate/kite anyone? Just a little thing stuck in my mind.. They might be releasing more dragon armour.

You have a really good point, but when you mentioned more dragon armor, I started thinking, what kind of monsters would be down there to drop it? I don't know if they mentioned strong monsters or not so I'm not gonna comment on that but if they did, it would be crowded as heck. :wall:

And that would be some expensive armor, considering no one would be ready for it, whoever got it first would be selling it for massive amounts, and if Jagex didn't mention new armor in their... description thing for the update (sorry no idea what they call it, I usually just skim though it) no one would even realize that the new monster/monsters droped it, so one day some random person would be killing one and get it as a drop. That would be kind of funny lol...

No, don't say sorry. I understand why you said those things and its my fault for not clarifying what I was saying.

I kind of doubt it to, but, you never know.

As many of you know, next week P2p will recieve the most intense update of the year. The God Wars Dungeon. With this dungeon, we will witness the release of the most powerful sword in the game; The Godsword.

How the hell do you know any of that? It hasn't come out, and knowing Jagex (although they have improved drastically over the past few months), it could be another cool sounding, but utterly useless update. (shadow sword minigame, anyone?)

How does he know? What part of ANNOUNCED did you miss?

And how could the shadow-sword miniquest be cool-sounding if it WASN'T ANNOUNCED? Good try, idiot...

Hell, why don't we just wait til it's here before we start praising or flaming it, honestly?

There's cake through here, apparently.
