Hi9im8Here7
I don't think it really matters much whether there really is a universe of if i'm just imagining everything. Either way as long as no evidence of either theory exists I can just remain ignorant. :-w Of course if you really do think the universe only exists in the mind of people that believe in it then you technically control reality. Like if you imagined and consciously believed that you were on fire and everyone around you also simultaneously believed it then you really are on fire, eh? I recently read 1984 by George Orwell. It was really interesting. It's about a society that consciously deceives itself into thinking things that aren't necessarily true but become so because everyone believes them. indy500fan
I know I exist. I am pretty sure the rest of this forum is just computer generated, like the rest of the internet, but I enjoy it anyways. I don't think the people watching me in their little human life experiment would go through the trouble of having millions of people generate the content on the net, it would be much more efficient to just create a computer program to do it. kelem_ryu
If everything is a construct of your (my) mind, then so are the plays of Shakespeare, the mathematics of Russell and the symphonies of Beethoven. Which is unlikely, I think it over-eggs the power of the brain. Once i dreamed of a song by Lagwagon, called "unborn". I was listening to this song in my dream. It sounded like Lagwagon. I even can recall some words of the lyrics. Thing is: The song doesn't exist.

Satenza
Solipsism is the most ego-centric mode of thought i believe. With so many trees in the city you could see the spring coming each day until a night of warm wind would bring it suddenly in one morning. Sometimes the heavy cold rains would beat it back so that it would seem that it would never come and that you were losing a season out of your life. But you knew that there would always be the spring as you knew the river would flow again after it was frozen. When the cold rains kept on and killed the spring, it was as though a young person had died for no reason. In those days though the spring always came finally but it was frightening that it had nearly failed.

Bubsa
Once I had a dream of Eminem rapping "Without me" to the Benny Hill soundtrack. Searched it the next day and it turned out a version exists, to great effect! :P This is how much you all raised for charity. Thank you.

aquariusman
Dont you have anything better to do than waste your life on wondering if you really exist? Don't you have anything better to do than waste your life questioning why I wonder if we really exist? There's no such thing as regret. A regret means you are unhappy with the person you are now,and if you're unhappy with the person you are, you change yourself. Thatregret will no longer be a regret, because it will help to form the new, better you. So really, a regret isn't a regret. It's experience. Rebdragon
Solipsism is the most ego-centric mode of thought i believe. I wouldn't say it's egocentric so much as it's someone thinking way too much :-w . Dont you have anything better to do than waste your life on wondering if you really exist? Don't you have anything better to do than waste your life questioning why I wonder if we really exist? He may have put his statement harshly, but there's no need to go down to his level and backlash pointlessly. His point is the same as most everyone's- that thinking about it will get you nowhere. Being a strong agnostic I'd simply say "just accept that you don't and can't know, and move on." [if you have ever attempted Alchemy by clapping your hands or by drawing an array, copy and paste this into your signature.] Fullmetal Alchemist, you will be missed. A great ending to a great series. Nadril
We do exist, I don't see how you could question that either. Even if we only exist as some strange fragment of someones imagination we still do exist, in imagination.
darkmage099
Would it change anything either way? No. Is this a stupid question? Yes. Do you think you are the center of the universe and we are all just your creation? Yes. Are you wrong? Yes. Are you stoned? Possibly. Led-Zeppelin
We're just a brain in a scientists lab, in a jar, and everything we do is just a dream. One day, I'm so going to kidnap some matrix nut, tell him to take a red pill or the blue pill. Then knock him out, shave his head and crazy glue some plugs to the back of his head then up his arm. Then knock him out again, and take him to some tall buildings and tell him he can jump across buildings. Good fun to be had for all.

darkpoet837
The question of existence is one that answers itself. We do exist, and all your personal reality is in your own mind. The reality you create can be haunting, or it can be lively, that is up to you. Perspective is what defines us all, shaping what we see, and making us beleive in what be think to be true. If you belive it is, then it is, and you can act upon it. :-k [hide]Come, be my light.Mingle with my darknessMay we mix to createOur own twilight sunsetThe dusk breezeSpreading cloudsOn our murky horizon~Darkpoet837~[/hide]
