Speed holds the winning factor in weapon comparison in melee.

+1 ::'

Nope. Speed is much over rated.

Speed is rated just fine, thanks.

Speed > most everything in RuneScape. Why do you think the Abyssal Whip is the #1 weapon in the game? Why don't people just use an Anchor because of the UB3R L33T H16H H1T5?

Only time when power beats speed is the Godsword because the power is very... powerful.

Pros:

d scimmy is fast and easily purchased

d long has better bonuses and special

cons:

d scimmy has weaker bonuses than long and it's special stinks

You need to get a cut diamond before buying it and normally people only buy 1.

Being pure I love Dragon Longswords. I use Dscims for basic combat but when I PK and I don't want to use the Dscim-DD combo I like using Knives/Darts/Cbow - Dlong. Get them to about 30 hp and take out Dlong and Special.. It's awesome.

Dlong isn't as popular because it's not as fast. Simple.

here's something I found out in f2p with rune long and scim:

When I was lvl 70, I remember buying a rune long of the champions guild, since I usually don't buy from players. Used it on lessers, it took me 2 minutes to kill one, later on I got 1 strength levels, 5 attack lvls and traded a rune scim. I used it on lessers again, and I could kill lessers in 45 seconds :-s .

Then again, I advanced 5 attack lvls. But still, even with the attack levels, it 's still a huge difference.

Until this story, I was a rune long fan, only time when I didn't use rune long was in my noob days when I found two bronze scims in lumby :) .

D long owns tbh 8-) It's the most fun Dragon Wep, or one of the most.

D scimmy is just boring, but is much better to train with and hit well, but it's just a regular good weapon.

D long, I'd say, is for having fun. Like this:

But other than being impressed with hitting high, a dragon dagger can hit double high 30s with what you have on, so if your going on special attack alone, unless you want to see the 50s, dragon dagger still has a faster special.

The dragon long gets a bad rep from the dragon scimmy because the dragon scimmy is a much better weapon. End of discussion.

Ah, this reminds me about the noob on the Runescape forums who was upset with the quest "Cold War" because apparently his grandparents died in the war. :wall:

y_anima"]d scimmy isnt always weapon of choice

99.9% of the time, it is.

Compared to the dragon scimmy, the dragon long is a joke.

I don't understand your points....

You argued that the you can hit 37 with the special, that's all well and good, but you never mentioned anywhere that you have severe down syndrome, which is why you use the dragon long special. Most people who have either of those weapons, have a dragon dagger in their inventory, which they use for the special. I can easily hit over 37 with one dragon dagger special, plus it poisons. Dragon scimitars are faster and more accurate (imo), with a slight decrease in strength, and the only way the dragon long would ever be better is with the special, which is an invalid point because the dds special totally rapes the dragon long special.

D scim/DDS > D long/DDS

Treasure trail items: 9

Dragon drops: 0

I never used a d long simply because I always used scimmies, from my first step off of tutorial island till i got my barrelchest anchor (used that before I got whip). Don;t care about stats, I was just scimitar all the way :D

D long also has a nice Accuracy bonus. I prefer D long it has been with me through many quests including Monkey Madness (Oh the irony using the weapon you love to get a better one) But D scimmy trains faster but in Castle wars training strength it's always fun to scare the hell out of people when they laugh for not having D scimmy or whip.

d scim is way better for training because of those .5 seconds everyone keeps refrering too. Train for an hour or two and it more then makes up for the lack of damage. However in terms of player vs. player fighting the d long spec makes it a great all around wepon.
