RpgGamer
All month I had been really pissed off and depressed, but then the other day it started raining torrents, and I couldn't help but laugh maniacally as I drenched myself in the down pour. So this brings up a question in my mind: does weather directly effect people's mood? For some reason rain makes me feel good, where as a sunny day makes me energenic, and snow makes me sleepy, etc. So out of curiousity, How does weather effect you (emotionally)? Giordano
Colder cloudy and/or rainy days make me feel a bit more better. :) Other than that, the weather doesn't change much here. CubeMage128
Sunny: Content/optimistic Hot + Sunny/humid: Tired/irritable Overcast/cloudy: Neutral Light rain: Nostalgic Heavy rain/Thunderstorms: Amplifies current emotion (If I'm sad, I become depressed, if I'm happy, I become joyful. Also, I tend to feel more comfortable indoors.) Cold and windy: Serious/intense focus Foggy/Misty: Curious Snow: N/A (I live in Southern California, but I can only imagine that it would have the same effect as Heavy rain + Cold and windy + foggy) It seems that most people here react positively to rain, yet studies show that people who live in rainy areas such as Seattle tend to be more depressed. Strange...

MPM
Hasn't it been proven that weather does affect mood? Lots of people don't believe that. I do. Mid arkansas means lots of completely random weather, so I can definately see the mood differences in me. Sunny and clear: Neutral, jittery. Sunny with clouds: Neutral, tired Overcast: Energized. Drizzle: Neutral, a little bit of energy. Thunderstorms with tons of rain, thunder and lighting: Really happy and excited, and this doesnt' happen often. ~M
Doom1200
I adore the rain. I feel at peace when it's just me out there getting soaked to the bone in the rain. It's soooooo soothing. And it's even better when ya got a gal on your arm. Anything else is whatever. :XD:
Rebdragon
I like the rain. I feel more content when it rains. Anything else is second best. Yah, I like rainy days more than sunny days, but it's hard to beat the kind of weather where there's a light shower/drizzle coming down with the sun shining through a small break in the clouds. It's rare, but that puts me in the best of moods. ThurinEthir
I was thinking something similar... I have Phys. Ed first period on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Last Tuesday, it was pretty hot and sunny, even at 8 AM. I screwed up so much that day. On Wednesday, it was colder, and was drizzling. I did much better than Tuesday. Cold (40-50 Fahrenheit) - Awesome Rain - Okay Drizzling - Awesome Medium Temperature (60-70) - Okay Cloudy - Okay Partly Cloudy - Okay Snow - Screwed Hot (80s) - Okay Extremely Hot (90+) - Screwed Thunderstorms - Okay/Screwed Foggy - Okay/Awesome Blizzards - Uber-Screwed I've had my handful of hot, humid weather, and my handful of freezing, blizzarding weather. I was born in Taiwan (Hot, humid) and now live in Massachusetts (Freezing, blizzarding in winter) Cenin pân nîd, istan pân nîd, dan nin ú-cenich, nin ú-istach.Ithil luin eria vi menel caran...Tîn dan delu. IGoddessI
Majority of the time (but it does change) Sunny - tired cloudy - energetic rain - snuggle time  windy - agitated storm - calm hot - annoyed/flustered cold - secure and loving Serotonin levels increase when you're exposed to bright light. My levels go up and down like yoyos, so the weather can play a pretty vital part on it. Adam007
Interesting question. What I'm wondering is if it's direct or indirect. Let's say there's a thunderstorm going on. Do people indirectly get energetic because they're excited by all the chaos and change going on outside? Or is it more biologically direct? Intriguing
Best combination for me is completely overcast, really windy, and thunder and lightning in the distance. Makes me so happy. Where I'm from, it's pretty much always sunny, but I don't really like sunny days. Rain is pretty cool too, but mostly for the smell, and the sensation of getting drenched. Cool. IGoddessI
When my serotonin levels are high I need to keep away from a hot summerÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s day because it triggers off my ocd. Otherwise it results in me getting really bad insomnia, irritable and having eating difficulties in order to feel relaxed? Today for example, my levels are high and outside is hotter than ever (had to go furniture hunting as moving house within the next 8 weeks). Apart from only getting 2 hours sleep last night (isomnia), it resulted in me coming home and giving the entire house a make over, then taking a bite out of my lunch and threw it in the bin :uhh: There's a situation the weather and mood applies to. Rebdragon
I used to love and feel happy with thunderstorms, until I realized I was just saying that to seem different and special. flying_death_bombs55
I don't think the weather affects my mood, but my mood affects the weather. Sometimes when I'm mad it rains or gets even hotter, and when I'm bored the wind really picks up and starts blowing plastic trash cans around :P When you mentioned the Dragon Plates I had a sudden vision of a load of gangsters running around in fancy dress yealling "Grim Reaper in da hood!"
