Basically, what I am asking, is what is it like for people who know you play RS? Do they think its cool, nerdy, dumb or stupid. I don't know, you tell us.

 

 

 

At my school, if you play RS, you're instantly labelled as a nerd and a geek, and they don't really wanna know you. :?

all the kids at my school are like "wtf is runescape"

my friends think that runescape is the most useless game in the world, since its so ugly, boring, wow is better etc. i stopped getting offended by that for a very long time ago.

Noone realy cares/knows about me and runescape.

 

 

 

I think only 2 others play RS in my School.

 

 

 

But I'm a geek/nerd anyway because I'm in choir/band and get straight A's in all advanced classes.......

I'm 16 so, I'm sure a lot of people think runescape is very geeky. However I do know about 5 other people who play it, that are the same age as me.

Most people in my school dont know about the game, those who do either play it or play WoW. But generally no one will call you a geek for playing it.

 

At another school I went to it was labeled a loser activity from the beginning, because the schools all time lose played it. Guess what though, it was he who inspired me to play it, and soon people started putting me in league with him :wink:.

Hm...ya Im getting alot of this at the moment from the fella that showed me Runescape to start with, and guess what, yes he did just recently convert to world of warcraft as well...

 

 

 

But not everyones made of money nor do I honestly see much of a difference between the 2 games other then graphics, so no wow for me, thank god.

At my school, alot of people play Runescape. I don't talk to strangers about Runescape. They don't find me a geek or a nerd. If they do i'll show them something. O:)

Luckily the only ones who know I play are my close friends who used to or still do play runescape themselves.

Two years ago it was like "my little brother plays that game, I can't believe you play that", now I announce it in a more, um, acceptable way perhaps or I try and keep it a secret (yeah, I'm too much into reputations but that's just me). I think that the older we get, the more willing we are to accept people. I'm getting a better rep than I did in 9th grade, and the people who come to pester me are generally younger.

 

 

 

In a geeky environment however (tech camps, lots of fun btw), it was more amusing as I learned some interesting things:

 

 

 

the idiots who say stuff like "lol, rs suxors u'r a n00b. Wow is soo much better, lol i pwn you" DO actually exist. Yeah, I also wish it wasn't true. :(

 

 

 

I had way more people saying stuff like "get a life" than in a normal environment which leads me to conclude that some geeks want to be the least geeky geeks even amongst fellow geeks

 

 

 

Talking to a girl is apparently considered "having a relationship" in some people's minds. :? ooookaay, sure why not. :roll: :-w

 

 

 

Overall, I think some of them do everything they can not to appear geeky (again, these were generally the younger ones)

 

 

 

On a sidenote: So it seems The Geek Stereotype is the theme of the week on TIF. Well that's good, i was getting bored of last week's Not Getting Pride for Achieving Fletching/Cooking Skillcapes theme.

Most people I know haven't heard of Runescape.

 

 

 

When I describe it to them, they're usually politely interested. I've even managed to get a few people to try it out. But they all say the same thing.... "The graphics are ****" lol.

Most people just think it's a computer game and think it's a waste of time/stupid if you play too much on it. But most of my friends think it's a great way to interact without any responsibilities and just have pixelated fun, and I assure you my friends aren't nerds lol.

I have many kids in my school play it, and I have many friends play it too. But of course, everyone else who plays it in my grade either cheats/Is so low leveled that it's funny. Although I do have some friends who actually get the game and are good at it . . . Sadly enough though, my bro always asks me how much something is worth, is this worth it etc., and it gets quite annoying :-k

To be honest, I don't care what people think of me if I play RuneScape. I have soo much fun playing RuneScape, and continue to do so. As said, its a great way to interact with people from all other the word, working as a team or just having pure fun. Also its a great way to relax and unwind, but having fun at the same moment (in my opinion anyway). I could go on and on for many reasons why to play to RuneScape (and maybe a few reasons not to :lol: ).

 

 

 

Yes, maybe people can be addicted with RuneScape (even WoW), but soon enough they will cut their time shorter and shorter.

 

 

 

People who say "WoW is soo much better" or "RuneScape sucks" are people who haven't even tried the game, or just they don't like it. Fair enough, everyone is entitled to their own opinions. But if you love playing RuneScape, then you wouldn't be borthered with the hating comments.
