November 2, 200718 yr I think that the cost for P2P is actually pretty low, but if you can't afford it, play the F2P version or quit the game. Add me if you so wish: SwreeTak
November 2, 200718 yr Members=a little more than half of mininmum wage. So for 45 min of work wou get a possible 744 hours of playtime. Doesn't seem to bad for me? RIP MichaelangelopolousThanks to cowboy14 for the pimp sig!
November 2, 200718 yr i'd love some opinions from others about the cost of membership. i personally pay for 3 each month, for my family, and it tends to add up. Ill admit it cuts back on my budget slightly, and im not terribly happy about it, but i do enjoy runescape, so i've decided it's a cost that will probably remain constant for some time. Thought, opinions, love to hear how others feel about this. Holy crap, you're THAT poor? The game.
November 2, 200718 yr well if your parent won't support it, why should you support it for your siblings? especially if it cuts into the costs of important things such as college. tell your sisters to play f2p, they can get a job when they turn 14 probably and afford members then. if you can't handle job/school/and rs, then i don't recommend playing at all, as this game can take over people's lives (maybe not ruin, but create problems and stress) edit: on topic... i feel rs is fairly cheap, i only pay for one membership though
November 2, 200718 yr I have to admit that I am almost afraid that Jagex will read posts like these and realize that even though Runescape is quite a moneymaker for them, it could be an even bigger one. Compared to other leisure activities we spend money on, it is a relative bargain. I just hope that Jagex doesn't decide to change that. I pay $5 (U.S. dollars) per month for membership. This gives me the ability to play the game for as many hours as I want for one month. The last time I went to a movie (and it may have gone up since then) it was $9 for a two-hour movie. Even matinees, student tickets, and second-run films are at least $5. A coffee drink at a place I go far too often and will not mention by name is nearly $5. A hot pretzel and drink at the mall food court is $5. All of those things are gone in minutes. I think a month of Runescape is a far better value -- though I admit I spend money on all of them. I am not wealthy by any means, but I am employed full time at a "grown-up" job. I think that most people (and I am speaking for those of us who earn our own money) have a certain amount of of discretionary income. I feel that compared to other forms of entertainment, a Runescape membership provides a lot more for $5 than most other options. That's just my opinion -- but then, that's why I will continue to pay for it. I am sure that there are others that would enjoy that $5 more if it were spent elsewhere and if they feel that way (and that is certainly a valid opinion) then they should spend money on what matters to them. If $5 per month is truly financially difficult, however, I think it is imprudent to be paying for membership -- F2P isn't THAT bad!
November 2, 200718 yr I don't have a job and I support my gaming habits :P I usually only ask for money or a few gifts for my birthday and Christmas. Since my birthday and Christmas are 6 months apart from each other, I just buy a visa gift card for $30 + a $5 fee and when Christmas rolls around, I get more money, and do it again. Of course, I am only paying for 1 account. I can see how it would be a bit harder to pay for 3. just be happy you don't play WOW.
November 2, 200718 yr omg jaygex stole mi lunch munny that my grandma gives me every friday! If you don't like the cost of membership then don't pay it...DUH Vienna Raszyn Warsaw Klushino
November 2, 200718 yr If you don't have the money to pay for something that you don't need, such as food, most likely shelter, and water... DON'T BUY IT.
November 2, 200718 yr I say use AoW guide to make bank ready for f2p and just f2p until you can fit it back in your budget. Considering eating out less or getting rid of your car payment. I wouldn't say get a second job to play a game. Write out your budget and follow it closesly and I bet you could fit RS in if you eat less steak and lobster. =P
November 2, 200718 yr it does if your in college and trying to pay 20k in tuition a year working for minimum wage As a student, that is like 2 beers a month. I'm sure you can find one night a month to restrain your drinking by 2 beers. Then you can continue to play runescape and the headache the next morning is much milder too ;)

I think that if you enjoy paying for the game, that's enough to spend the money to do so. Just be lucky that it's only this much, compared to the hefty 40$ +15$/month like WoW or other games. : Goodluck with your "financial troubles", heh. :XD: |Msg me me in-game | IrreIephant| ^ capital i
November 2, 200718 yr Runescape's cost is very reasonable; it's basically a high-quality commerical MMO rivalling most others like WoW or Everquest in terms of gameplay and for only a fraction of the cost. Like someone else said before me, 5 bucks is almost half an hour of minimum wage. You should be able to afford runescape even if you're homeless. 15 bucks a month (which should in your situation really be just 5) puts a dent in your pocket? Wow. Consider doing better in college so you can get a job that pays for a year of runescape in an hour. RSN: Manaleak

Why are those slackers still in school at 21? I *was* kidding, in case it wasn't clear. Although I wasn't 21 until a few months before I graduated, there are a lot of college students that are 21 or *gasp* even much older.
November 2, 200718 yr It costs me ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã5 a month (Don't have a credit card so I use my phone), but compared to WoW and other games it's nothing. If you want to keep playing on-line games there are plenty of free MMORPG's out there, but the content is often limited or the games aren't finished (Eg, it's still a beta, there are many bugs or it hasn't be announced officially by the company/people making it). Then again, Rs has a free version too, which although doesn't have nearly as much content as members is still a good game in it's own right. There are many options to choose from, but it's up to you really. "In the beginning, the universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move."
November 2, 200718 yr 3 accounts on members? No wonder it cuts you back a bit, that's 180 euros per year to play a game on 3 accounts :-k I'm ok with it. It ain't much and I only ever played with one account as a member, my main. None p2p atm though, had been member for 2 years straight though. If it's only an account, it's a reasonable price to pay, in my opinion. Runescaper since June 2005Blog
November 2, 200718 yr Obviously a student loan is worth it. If you think 15$ a month is a lot.. I don't even know what to say here.. its just, not. In Canada it should be less than that because the CND dollar is worth more than the US, but its still 10$ for one subsciption, and you dont see us complaining.
November 2, 200718 yr To be honest, RS is #2 on my list of things to pay for. Currently saving up for a Samsung Juke, then it's 20 bucks a month for service and parents say I have to get unlimited Texting, because it costs money if people spam you. I did just buy a month, 5 bucks isn't that much to earn back.

Then you can continue to play runescape and the headache the next morning is much milder too ;) College students drink beer??? College students can be alot older than 21???????!!! Drinking age in England is (more sensibly to be honest) 18, and college here is usually for when you're 16-18 years old. Anyway, I've just started a job in accountancy getting ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã7.50 ($15ish) per hour which is... I think an okay rate for an 18 year old, but overall it's pretty low paid. My point is that I have barely any free time to play games and although I would earn enough for membership in less than half an hour working, it's still ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã3.50 spent on something I'm barely ever going to play, which is why I decieded to go f2p and play in tiny dosses a week when bored to death. If you're struggling in other areas because of Runescape, common sense would simply say that's stupid. :| It is just a game, no matter how much you enjoy it, all these hours you might be putting in to get Xp will all be most likely erased in a few years when Runescape comes to an end..
November 2, 200718 yr Obviously a student loan is worth it. If you think 15$ a month is a lot.. I don't even know what to say here.. its just, not. 15̢̢̮ââ¬Ã¡Ãâì a month to play a virtual game on three accounts? Even if you don't see a problem in that, I'd say it's way too much to be spending on it, specially if it's 3 different accounts when you can do enough on just one. Runescaper since June 2005Blog
November 2, 200718 yr do the math cost/hour playing a month= hourly cost to play it is not alot when u look at it like that in comparison to hours working : money earnt a month 1593th to 99 Farming - July 08.
November 2, 200718 yr RS is about as cheap as you can get. It has a darn high value to cost ratio too. You can complain about a lot things - but price is not one of them. Proud webmaster of:"Orc Magazine" and the "Stickman Murder Mystery Games" too.
November 3, 200718 yr whell i barely do anything and i make normaly about 12 an hour and sometimes 20 an hour i pay membership for 2 accounts and internet and all the rembamble(just made that up!) i think the money is worth it as long as you have fun ingame and i have fun all time whether its lolling at noobs or looking at what dumb high lvls have 2 say :P and pk ing wasting money and giving away items is what i do and makes me happy (as i never give coins 2 the collectors at my door i give rs gold 2 the poorer in rs) Me and the wise old man go way back.... he was a foolish boy back then. My crystal armour idea.
November 4, 200718 yr my son doesnt understand why I wont buy him a pick up truck like the one I drive. It is a really nice truck Dodge 3500 crew cab and extended bed with a 24 valve diesel. Lets see he makes ummm around $100 a week and drives the farms old ford 150. I guess my opinion is if you want to drive a $65,000 customized truck get a job that will pay for it, otherwise keep driving the old ford Same with games they are a luxury not a requirment of life. Run your question and problem by your economics proffesor and see that he/she has to say about it :)
