Fredz
This is not a new subject. The sky render has been a future that have been much debated. Ever since the early beta shots that was given before the public beta of RS2 Jagex announced that we would get a sky render in the brand new RS2 engine! That never happened. And when RS2 went out of beta JageX removed the pre-released beta shots of the rendered sky from their old news post. Personally, I'm still looking forward to a future like this. Why did JageX abandon these ideas to begin with? It clearly does not look like a hard future to implement. At least it should be easy to change the background color from black to a "skylike" blue? I don't know but I sure would like to bring some more awareness around the "sky render". :) What are the chances we see this in the future? Why have JageX not chosen to do anything about it yet? Would you want it? Feel free to discuss :) Edit: removed picture due to popular demand 21 lag piles, 4 Pjs, 2 Party hat kills, 67 newbs teached. Matey
Well, with the small draw distance (I believe that's the term) RuneScape has it would look a little odd with trees and other objects emerging in front of the sky, if you ask me. Iv_Green_vI
What you've done there looks plain ugly.. lol I think rs is fine without a sky I mean I always have my camera set up high so what's the point?

Making it blue would just make it feel like a shoddy attempt at making it somewhat sky-like. At least with it being black it kind of signifies there's something more passed what your character can see rather than everything between a certain distance and the sky being completely invisible. Perhaps our characters just have terrible eye sight? To hell with humanity; The more I see, the less I believe.

Its not my job on the picture that we are supposed to discussed here Well, if you want to argue your case, you should at least make it look like it looks good in maybe one situation, let alone being universally used throughout Runescape. Honestly, if you can't make one image look good (or at least try to), then it doesn't speak well for the suggestion that it would look good in all cases. [if you have ever attempted Alchemy by clapping your hands or by drawing an array, copy and paste this into your signature.] Fullmetal Alchemist, you will be missed. A great ending to a great series. Chaos_Reborn
The image you got looks okay. I wouldn't mind if they added something like this, though it probably won't be too useful on Runescape. Main thing is that you can rotate the camera, so implementing a sky render would make certain camera angles seem weird (just a guess). Visit my Runescape comedy website, based on in-game screenshots. Defender2516
Well, the camera really never looks "up" at the sky. I think its fine how it is personally... If you love me, send me a PM. 8 - Love me2 - Hate me
Poopingman
I've been complaining about this for years. It always looks like its night because its just black beyond the draw distance. I suggest having times of day, that could really open up new doors to new ideas. Metal fans, check out my band!Still the King....
Artificial_Doom_Flavor
The solution, of course, is to greatly increase the draw distance and/or add fog to High Detail, then create a "sky box" that behaves similar to "outdoor areas" when indoors in High Detail. Naturally, this still has the problem of each object in the game having a set shading rather than a lighting-dependent shading, because there is no real lighting in RuneScape. The sun would be in one place, all the time, and objects would still rotate with their shadows on the same side relative to themselves. Still enjoying RuneScape? M6c_Magnum
At least it should be easy to change the background color from black to a "skylike" blue? Yes, it should be! I have always wondered why it is black - perhaps Jagex is emo? 8-) [/bads]

Mr_Adam
I don't think RuneScape needs it, tbh. It would just be another color added into the game. We can tell whats above us just fine without being able to see the sky.

hatebringer
Its definitely a possibility, just as all other updates that would help to the benefit of Runescape. A sky update would be pretty nice if you think about it, since Runescape's current "sky" is pitch black, so maybe just change the color, or adding a sky render would help out the graphic improvement to the game. 99 Fletching 99 Attack 99 Constitution 99 Cooking 99 StrengthGamertag: H8tebringer
Peronix
Simply changing the color outside the "draw" wouldn't work. How good would that look on low detail when you're up in the second story of a building? How good would that look down in a deep, dark dungeon? And really, how good wold a nice blue sky look in Mortania? I think Jagex abandoned the "sky" thing early on because they realized that it just wouldn't work with the engine they had. Perhaps sometime in the future, maybe a month from now I don't know.

And secondly you could have changing sky render depending on were you are. :) 21 lag piles, 4 Pjs, 2 Party hat kills, 67 newbs teached.
