December 13, 200718 yr -NOTE: Topic made on Dec 12, 2007 so please don't close- Before the Wilderness Updates F2P players could do very few things. They were: PK, skill (very few did), adventure (for new players), skill/pk until he/she receive membership. Very few, indeed. Now, there are more things you can do while being f2p but there is the most important thing, that 99% of f2p players love, that Jagex has taken out - PKing. Why train anymore (for those who wont be getting p2p anytime soon)? Yes, there is the Bounty Hunter game.. but the area is quite limited to what it used to be and you can only pk levels around your range. For the high levels, pking in 36-47 wild was a blast. You could attack players way lower than you and have fun. After the Wilderness Updates After these updates there are more things you can do except doing the funnest thing. With these new updates comes good and bad. So, if you are f2p, what will you do? Nothing much is left to do on F2P. Converting to p2p won't give you many other things to do (except new skills, items, and minigames but overall, 90% of players, skill to make money for pking supplies, obtain items to train & be better at pking, and play minigames to release the stress from pking) either. People who PLAYED Free-to-play and KNEW they weren't going to get pay-to-play ANYTIME SOON all pked. F2P skillers (most) skill until they get p2p or skill because they enjoy it but those are VERY few and I'm seeing there is a high concentration of f2p skillers on Tip.it :-X And like I said.. people who knew they were stuck on f2p forever and their only reward for training was pking, pked. and these were the 90% of ACTIVE F2P PLAYERS. Those other f2p players were: - New players who later converted to p2p after lvl 60 (or sometimes 70s) - Players who were f2p for a short period of time till they got p2p back - "Stuck" f2p skillers, wont be p2p in a long time. So yes, I'm right. THE 90% OF PEOPLE WHO PLAYED F2P, PKED. ^ For those who think my statistics are wrong. -Retired from Runescape on August 12, 2008-Working out topicEverything related to working out! December 13, 200718 yr F2P people can use the duel arena, or the bounty hunter game. It isn't like people can't fight now.
December 13, 200718 yr They just can't make millions an hour by fighting. I once shot a man in Reno, just to watch him die.Pics or it didn't happen. I hate my generation.
December 13, 200718 yr I never really did like pking...skilling and making money were my incentives to play. :)
December 13, 200718 yr Have you seen how much f2pers love clan wars and duel arena? I'm pretty sure they are going to be entertained for a while. Quit RuneScape :)
December 13, 200718 yr I never really did like pking...skilling and making money were my incentives to play. :) yep, i never staked, or pked. if i did, i probably would have quit. :)
December 13, 200718 yr Author F2P people can use the duel arena, or the bounty hunter game. It isn't like people can't fight now. I'm assuming you only read my title. Duel Arena: Only people with similar or better stat than yours will duel you. No fun. There is no "randomness" like used-to-be wild Bounty hunter: Like Duel Arena, except there is a bigger range of levels but.. it is still extremely different from used-to-be wild. -Retired from Runescape on August 12, 2008-Working out topicEverything related to working out! December 13, 200718 yr Well, I was an f2p pker which played only to PK, but came back the next day. Like I thought I would. Right now I'm going for 99 range in f2p. Just for the challenge, bragging rights, and MAYBE pking. But we'll see what December 18th says about that. A time consuming goal, I expect it to take 4-6 months as a rough estimate if I only range, bank, and go back to ranging again. But first I have to get the 2m+ for the 400k+ bronze arrows I'll need to get that. Might be more or less, not sure if I'll be be picking up arrows or not. So yeah that's the agenda for now I guess. :P The ULTIMATE Runescape weapon

December 13, 200718 yr So Jagex supposedly nerfed F2P PKing, and you're asking us what we'll do now. I'll just be PKing. Ah, this reminds me about the noob on the Runescape forums who was upset with the quest "Cold War" because apparently his grandparents died in the war. :wall:
December 13, 200718 yr Welllll the f2p updates looked kinda good at first. I tried to play BH with my f2p friend but we couldn't get into the same level cave and mine had an empty waiting room. I switched but all f2p servers were empty, too! Apparently no one there wants to play on the 100+ area. The Runescape Wilderness - Meili's Blog
December 13, 200718 yr I'm actually interested to see if group focused pking becomes popular, seeing as to how I am more interested in mining and smithing I feel that these skills would come in handy should I join one of these pking groups. This would mean that I can build a strong bond with a group of friends and supply them with gear for battle that is easily replaceable for a heavily subsidised cost (I focus on skilling and not earning money, so I mine and smith everything myself). Of course, this all depends on whether pking clans for bounty hunter and the dual arena become popular, that way I'll actually have a practical use and a good reason for levelling up my manafacturing skills.

There's plenty left to do in f2p; I seriously doubt that 90% of players are that focused on pking. If anything, 90% of players are focused on earning gp. As for me, as an f2per, I'm going to keep doing what I've been doing: skilling. Only now, it'll be so much easier without random pkers attacking me every few minutes, and those wuss revenants are hardly threatening. Or, if there are some that are, I haven't encountered them yet. But, at least they're still easier to identify as a threat than the lying pkers who said "Peace" then attacked as soon as my inventory was worth their effort. So yeah, this actually made my life as an f2per easier. Part of the Star Traks network. (^^Clicky!) Irony: An amnesiac rediscovering they have an eidetic memory.
December 13, 200718 yr I'd like to point out statistics from a poll run on Jagex's main page: Only 12% of players PKed recently. Only 18% of players planned on PKing within the next month. Your claim of 90% people focused on PKing? If they're not PKing, they're doing something that makes them better at it? It's a lie. Next time, back up your opinions with valuable statistics. Otherwise it's just a rant, and there is an entire forum for them. Goals to get my skills back up to a barely respectable level on the high scores: Currently going for Bone to Peaches spell. It's amazing how boring doing the same repetitive task is! Stupid MTA

So yeah, this actually made my life as an f2per easier. Not for me, Ive been killed exactly once by a pker in a year on this f2p account. I was zero-iteming. On the other hand, I have been killed thrice in 2 days doing my regular mining routine. One of them hit a 32 on me in F2p! December 13, 200718 yr yeah those things owned me 2. I was at greater's and one attacked me and started hitting 22+...and it was only lvl 70 something (i'm 85). Put on range prayer and it still hit from distance...put on mage prayer and it still hit from distance :wall: #-o . I was low food at the time so i didn't kill it...but apparently the drops are poor considering the damage they do they should at least drop rune items or lots of chaos/death runes or something decent. Anyway about the update... i was training heavily to go pking and now i dunno what to train...im not a big skiller but i might start mining/smithing, or i might just train up range/mage and go to the bounty- "get owned by clans and end up with everyone 1-iteming and make the whole thing pointless" -hunter. If dueling didn't have the stupid limit it be doing that but its kinda pointless for 3k... -.-
December 13, 200718 yr 90% of people don't get stuff to PK with, stop pulling statistics out of your [wagon]. I'm F2P, and I'm just gonna keep on skilling, just like before. Nothing new here, except 8 bank spaces and the duel arena. :D Treasure trail items: 9Dragon drops: 0

You won't. If the CORPORAL beast is this hard, imagine how hard a GENERAL or COLONEL beast would be. a corporal is not even an admirable rank in armies that use that ranking system. Yeah, it is a pking minigame, so any arguments anybody makes will probably be biased. The best way this will end :Everybody just says,"I'm not arguing with you anymore, goodbye."The worst way this will end: I don't really know, psychological warfare? Worldwide thermonuclear war? Pie eating contest?

December 13, 200718 yr 90% of people don't get stuff to PK with, stop pulling statistics out of your [wagon]. I have to agree with you there. This statistic is completely made up, believe it or not, PKing is not what most people do in RuneScape. December 13, 200718 yr Well, I'm going to find a noob conversation to put into the Noob's say the funniest things thread so that we at least have that during these times of everyone turning into conspiracy theorists. Currently will be using my Oni Tsurugi account to attempt to get 99 on all free skills without spending any gp, just for the sake of doing so.
