I'm just wondering that since law and nature running will be killed with the 3k limit on trading when January comes, the price of runes would rise.

doesnt that still cause a price rise because now the crafter has to get that cash back aswell?

I think any running could gain no more than 3k per trip, which I'm guessing would put a damper on things.

Here's a question: we now know that all the updates like the GE were introduced so that we could prepare for this huge trade update. Do you think that the ZMI altar was introduced because Jagex knew essence running wouldn't work anymore?

Given that projects take months, possibly a year to be developed, I'd say pretty much everything released over the last 9 - 12 months was written with the idea that this month's updates would happen.

 

 

 

So yes. It may not have been specifically placed to substitute essence running, but it was probably thought of as a possible alternative.

I look at it this way... if people are too lazy to take the time to level up on their runecrafting... they shouldn't benefit from it. Either that or they should pay the prices that everyone else does. Especially since they're turning huge profits from it, especially if they're alchers.

 

 

 

I always did think having people run essence for you was cheesy. I gained my levels the hard way. Gives me more of a sense of accomplishment knowing that, at least.

 

 

 

I think with running, the actual point of the skill was lost in translation. The skill was made for mages to have easier access to runes, yes, but I think the origional intentions were for you to EARN the ability to make runes while progressing as a mage. Not to just trade to someone who is almost no-lifing to get to 99 RC (or whatever their intended goal is).

 

 

 

Kudos to Jagex in that respect at least. Just a shame something like this wasn't implemented earlier.

abyss crafting is safe from pkers so i don't think it will increase in price since more people would rc themselves anyhow.

I agree RC pkers posed very little risk and could not possibly had any noticeable effect on the rune prices.

Admittedly, boredom did drop a few RCers. However, the number of runecrafters has shot up since the last update. Why? Because people believe that PKers were a danger. Anyone who had runecrafted for any length of time through the abyss had realized this. However, the possibility of being PKed was an issue for some that stopped them from runecrafting. Hence, the price of natures has dropped to the point where I've stopped runecrafting until prices stabilize, and bought tons of essence in preparation for the massive price increase once bots are killed.

Erm, I was thinking more along the lines of the following:

 

 

 

No more rwts, no more macroers, no more pure ess!

 

Pure ess price goes up

 

 

 

Runes price goes up

 

 

 

Ge make it hard for price to go up

 

 

 

Infinite runes in shop make price ceiling.

EXCEPT, there's not NEARLY as many people training magic for pures because of the elimination of regular PKing and staking...

 

That AND the fact that the abyss is tons safer now, would counteract the increase.

From almost everyone that's played a long time ago, all you hear is about how hard things were in the past to work/99 skills.

 

 

 

This might just be a step for RCers, making it harder for them to get their levels up.

 

 

 

Not the end of the world, just going to be fairly hard for those people who used the runners. We'll just have a generation of bragging "omg I didnt get a chance to use runners for my 99!" people.

Not really. Nub has money to buy rune = happy. You have RC exp = happy.

Hehehe, what about the infinite runes shop in the wildy? Noone to pk you...You can go, and with buy-x, buy any amount of runes you need. Thus, the price of runes will NOT rise above the store price.

 

 

 

Now is when it gets depressing. With the macroers gone, the price of pure ess will rise. (players will have to mine it themselves, which blows) But since the price of nats aren't rising, then the profit will fall.

 

 

 

Now is when it gets interesting, instead of depressing...Say pure ess rises. Now, imagine a world where pure ess is the price of, oh, 320 each? I believe, if my memory serves me right, 320 is the current set price at the zamarock mage in the wildy. This would mean that your 28 pure ess are equal to your 28 nature runes. Running alive again?
