June 12, 200818 yr OOPS I PRESSED SUBMIT INSTEAD OF PREVIEW.. -TOPIC NOt finished- When you grow up in America, you are thought to follow every rule and law. Even if it is the lamest rule in your school, you follow it. For example, I fought some gangster wannabe in my school and my friend knew about it, he was going all "dude you shouldn't do this. we will get caught. omfg". Anyways, point being that people that grow up in USA tend to do exactly as told by the higher authority. That can be implied to the "recent" changes made in Runescape - the Nuclear Bombing on player rights, online freedom of speech, freedom of merchanting & trading, amongst with many more (pking, staking, merch, helping others, complaining to jagex, talking to jagex, you want me to go on??). When something is made and a large part of a community doesn't like it, they do something about it. They don't just sit there and say "pfft, nothing is gonna change. we will live with a dumbo president forEVA!" (or complaining about the corrent situation they don't like), they go OUT and complain. It can be to their church leaders, political leaders or whatever. They even stand in the streets shouting out. What I'm trying to say, PEOPLE DO SOMETHING. I said so much about rl life stuff because I know others will try to find a way to prove me wrong. So, lets apply this to Run & Escape. Be honest, everyone hates Jagex. They did things to us that we don't even want to think of. They knew the effects, yet they still did it. Now, why are players so afraid of speaking out? You hear the word "riot" and IMMEDIATELY go "omfg no no we might get banned like omfg its a waste of time L.OL". Others might have a more civilized response such as "No. It has been tried before. It doesn't work" and many other replies. All of which are negative.. but why not give it a try? a REAL try. If all these haters weren't so ignorant, we might have a real big riot that Jagex will pay attention to. Ok hmm.. Since I pressed submit instead of preview.. I want to finish this up. So the question is.. Why are you so negative about riots? If you aren't... If a real big organized riot which would be advertised in every fansite and big clan forum.. would you come and advertise it?? -Retired from Runescape on August 12, 2008-Working out topicEverything related to working out! June 12, 200818 yr First off, I hate Jagex, and then I don't hate them. ;) America in my mind (I'm from Canada not that much different) is conform, and regulate everything. TV shows, school, and everything is for that model, and then if you go outside of it, your portrayed as an idiot, or a loser who isn't socially accepted. Though it varies, and there's tons of places with no one like that. From my experience and my school, 1/3 of the school body disrespects, as in swears, smokes, and does whatever they feel like in front of the teachers, whether it's bad responsibility, or parenting, the rules don't apply to them apparently. This is why a large amount of RuneScapers go and riot, it's something they don't get to do in real life, thus it's a change, and it basically an escape, just like portraying an Avatar in RuneScape in fantical Medieval Times. Sub-consciously I believe if makes them feel 'bad' or outgoing. Regardless riots do work, just so many people are ignorant to it. In real life, riots have changed thousands of things from the beginning civilization, rioting is an extremely important feature in life, that should be executed, but responsively. In RuneScape is changed the banned SS, into a rule that enabled SS to work legally. The wilderness isn't coming back for sure, but PvP in the wilderness with gravestones is, and looking on RSOF there's a strong push for this, with gravestones. That's what that riot was about. I really do not understand why so many people believe that riots do not change, or do not impact anything. Such a negative way of thinking, without doing research to show that it does, is idiotical.

June 12, 200818 yr You were banned for a reason  1. I dont see JAGeX making the old wildy return...they removed it due to RWT, not because they hated us. 2. If you hate jagex, why play this? got play WOW or something... 3. At riots, all i see is this: @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@ Agreed Rioting doesnt change Jagex's mind not to go back to old pk system.
June 12, 200818 yr Instead of rioting they could all think of new ideas for PvP minigames and suggest them on the forums. This would help an infinite amount more, as the rioting isn't helping at all because Jagex aren't getting back the Wilderness. [insert birds flying in a circle here]Yes, that sig was annoying.
June 12, 200818 yr I've personally got no problem with rioting, I even participated in the more bankspace protest that some other tipiters put together. Rioting is better than just sitting around complaining about it usually, but Jagex doesn't really care about players wanting the wilderness back. The riot won't work, especially with the very small amount of players in it. Besides, Jagex will never change it back completely, they've already made it very clear that they wont change it back, they needed to get rid of real world trading, and that was the only way they saw would take care of it. To Jagex, the rioters are basically asking them to bring back RWT when they ask for the old pking and the wilderness back. Do you really expect Jagex to say: "Oh, well seeing as you liked the wilderness, we'll bring it back and completely welcome RWting back into the game, something we've been completely against and absolutely hate. Sure, we'll get started on that right away." Didn't think so. People are mostly so "negative" towards rioting because to be honest, it's extremely annoying. How do you like it when other players start crowding around you and start typing stuff over and over to no end? Plus, to make it worse, everyone knows that it's hopeless and that there's not really a point to it, that's why they frown upon the riots that have happened recently. Yeah, they could all quit the game to try and make an impact on Jagex, but that won't work either. For every player that quits, 10 players easily replace them. So, Jagex is gonna keep doing what they want, and we don't have much of a say really. It's their game, unfortunately, thats the way it is. Yes, I agree with you, rioting is better than doing nothing, but it's still not going to do a thing except annoy afew players. That's just my opinion, while riots can work in real life, they don't do much in virtual online games. If you still think that those riots are gonna do something, I respect that. Penguin Power!^The last great war of the Wilderness....Yeah, I don't have a cool signature, so the MSSW3 sig will have to do....

Rally's, protests, riots...basically the same thing, group of people gather together against something. What you call it is only determined by what either the media, or how violent they get.
June 12, 200818 yr People are negative towards riots because it's not only utterly pointless, but in the end, it wastes both your time and jagex's time. Case in point: See it just wasted 5 minutes of your life Problem solved, kthxbai
June 12, 200818 yr People dont conduct themselves well during RS riots. If it was like a kind of peaceful protest it would be fine, but its not, its usually people standing in fally square spamming and causing problems for everyone by creating massive lag in the area. Then Jagex have to waste their time by sending J-Mods in to disperse and mute people.
June 12, 200818 yr Runescape isn't a democracy. Jagex own it, they do with it what they please. They own Your account and everything in it, they own runescape. thus any decisions they make are final unless they decide to change them. They stated wildy isn't coming back. So you riot, Riots would work in democracy, but as stated, runescape isn't one. Jagex make the decisions, not the whole.

I think of looted business's and burning flipped over cars. I dont see a RIOT doing anything. Sure, some protests turn violent but really theirs a big difference in people who get upset over the most trivial thing like the lakers losing a game, compared to protesting the iraq war. People dont conduct themselves well during RS riots. I dont feel like typing much more gtfo my topic lololz Every one isn't saying"oppose jagex and their ways". they are saying "riots are a waste of time". Riots affect jagex in no ways, they still get their cash because no one is quitting members over a riot. After that riot is over everyone goes back to doing what they were doing before the riot. Instead of wasting your time at a riot why not try something more useful? Maybe have people quit members so that they lose money. If you find a few hundred people who actually would quit members over something then do that and I am sure jagex will change it if its enough people. Only problem is most people are ok with how runescape is, if they wasn't they would of already quit rs. I for one love it more. Riots are the stupidest crap I have ever heard, it doesn't affect jagex and you guys are just making your self look stupid. And as for the "Riots do change stuff" no actually thats only in RL, where when a riot happens it actually effects real people (traffic blocks, not able to leave/enter a building). rs riots don't effect any other players, I could simple wath THROUGH a riot which I once did(Was smelting at a furnace :P).
June 12, 200818 yr Riots mean that you don't care enough about the issue to quit. You only care about having everyone else hear you wine and complain. If you are a member and rioting Jagax is still making money. Jagax is clear about their policy of rioting of how it will affect their judgement, it wont. So the only thing you can do is quit and have the money lost change their judgment. But guess what, even if all the riots stop playing the money lost will probably not be great enough for Jagax to change their minds. I will shoot down any one with my bitting wit, and sarcasm! What POSSIBLE reason would someone have to make a fake like that?Does he profit from faking a picture like that? Does it help him at all?Jesus Christ, stop being so suspicious. This is Tip.it for God's sake, not RuneHQ. -_-
June 12, 200818 yr People are negative about riots, because even the rioters themselves know that what their doing won't work. All everyone does is say the same thing as the other person over and over, or just spam or tell everyone to put on the same prayer to cause lag, but most probably because 'it looks cool'. Having been in riots myself I know how pointless they are, people can get banned, muted and most probably get their respect from others taken away from them, mainly because they look stuid for even suggesting a riot or taking part in one. June 12, 200818 yr As mentioned straight off..... @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@ I know what your thinking.... all you people who riot think: "hey! this accurately demonstrates our point of view, and shows our opinion to Jagex" News flash! it doest.... and it's just spam, and this is what 95% of text is during a riot. they do nothing but disrupt the game play of others, and generally piss people off. Whilst after the SwiftSwich incident it appeared to players that riots actually work, and I understand why people thought that, as Jagex handled the whole situation very badly, and the news post did not set us in good stead. I can promise you 100% Jagex did not take note of the opinion of disruptive "community" members. However, Jagex as a company that cares about their game, want to improve their game, the most ways they improve the game, the better the game, the more happy the players the more the money...... basically under every circumstance jagex wish to listen to feedback! But "@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@" is not feedback..... its spam. it's a very simple set of guides to get feedback to Jagex, and they employ people to read forum 24 hours a day (different people... not just one :P) so! here is how it works: Consider your opinion What don't you like? Why is it you don't like it? How does your opinion match with the views of others? How would you do it differently? Write it down Go to the rants forum in the RSOF and check to see if existing threads on the topic exist if not: cick add new thread and write down your opinions and post them keep the add active by bumping it, and responding to feedback Jagex will notice! The thing is, Jagex will only listen to the good members of the community who are kind respective and offer constructive feedback, anything else is ignored and disrupts everybody else around you.
June 12, 200818 yr Well, I'm a pure and I haven't taken part in a riot or anything like that. But I do hate the removal of the wilderniss, and even more bounty hunter. The problem with bounty hunter (bs-hunter :wall: ) are the levels they chose for the craters. It isn't fair dropping a level 68 between 90+ people. Now you have to train to a certain combat level to pk, while in the past you just walked in de wild and looked for somebody else around your combat. Now these days you walk in and if you're too low you get attacked right away by the higher levels or by some 1 iteming guy. I just hate this system, they could easily tweak it a bit, like bump the low level crater it's max to like 77. That would at least make it a bit better.
June 12, 200818 yr For you to do a major riot, you'd need thousands of people and you'd have to be able to control them. For Jagex to ignore you, they just choose not to be in your world. Besides, I think it's a little too late to riot to Jagex about PKing now.

Yeah I understand that but, I think the most people start to pk from 50+ (in members), they should be able to get away from the level 77s, but if you go into the medium level crater as a level 68 with the average hitpoint level... Well your pretty much owned, I almost got killed in 1 special. Even with 81 hitpoints. Yeah I know I've 1 defence, but I don't really think that 1-50 defence would really matter there. Those level 112s with piety, 99 strength and super poted will rip it apart anyway.
June 12, 200818 yr The world would be an easier place to live in if everybody agreed with eachother -_- But well... that's not about to happen. People riot because of the whole forcefulness of the situation with RWT. It isn't like rioting about idk, the dragon pickaxe, demanding for one. Jagex took away vital parts of the game: merchanting, staking, the wilderness, and free trade, it's not a walk in the part. People are asking for the wilderness back, or some of form of modified wilderness to atleast make up for what Jagex removed. It's not too much asked. Wether or not the riots are effective, well if you ask me any publicity, good or bad, is good anyway. Jagex only has to lose if they refuse to listen to the opinion of the players. 2480+ total
June 12, 200818 yr Cuz the only way to riot properly on RS and be taken seriously is to cancel your membership until changes are made... everything else is futile :P
