runescape isnt like america at all, its more like china im not sure how much riots are going on in china right now im guessing its not much.

jagex owns the game completely, when you make an account you borrow it from jagex and borrow the name from jagex.

Be honest, everyone hates Jagex. They did things to us that we don't even want to think of. They knew the effects, yet they still did it.

I don't think that's quite right. Some people do actually understand and agree with the motive of their actions. RWTing was going to kill the game many times quicker than simple riots will.

Placing a thread in the RSOF stating which update was wrongly introduced, why it was wrong and a better solution to the same problem will get you much further if your reasoning is sound.

Unfortunately riots are just repeating that an update was wrongly introduced without a reasoned explanation why, neither a viable better solution, and that's why Jagex takes no notice. It's not constructive.

Now, members leaving is a more serious problem, and I'm sure that if more members had left the game because of the anti-RWT update, Jagex would get a re-think of their operations and replacements. It's just that the feedback of BH wasn't negative enough. Sad, I know, but some people enjoy it and sooner or later more pvp minigames will come up to satisfy enough people, uh, hopefully.

1. I dont see JAGeX making the old wildy return...they removed it due to RWT, not because they hated us.

2. If you hate jagex, why play this? got play WOW or something...

3. At riots, all i see is this:

That is the typical [wagon] reply.

Why not try? I know it has been tried before but people like you "press it down" and look upon it as something not cool therefore make others not wanna do it.

I dont feel like typing much more

You may think it's a bull response, but, it is the truth. Riots are a 99% un-organized spam fest.

I can't think of a single riot that actually worked.

In the real world, Riots and standing up do matter, they do count. But this isn't the real world. This is a game.

I agree, we should try and change the game for the better, but Riot's aren't the way forward. First of all, you could organise one, and be the best at organising it. But you can bet it will be crashed and the point of the riot will go down the drain. Runescape is a game, and thousands of people standing around, messing about is not going to make Jagex change their mind. I would think they would pay more attention to thousands of people posting their thoughts on how it should be changed in a mature manner. It just seems like a better way of going about it. You say we should do something, and not stand around. All the riots do tend to be just standing around with people shouting random crap and creating a bit of havoc. It has not worked in the past and I can not see it working now. The best way forward is for players to put their opinions forward and see what Jagex think of them. At the end of the day, Jagex don't have to listen to us. There will be new players coming in, who don't know anything about what used to be, they will be the new generation and if the older generation do some complaining and leave well Jagex have their new players to rely on.

I like how the only reason you and your alt (which undoubtedly doesn't exist anymore) aren't banned for being giant trolls is because of the forum wipe.

Looks like you still haven't changed.

And people are negative about riots because the simple act of spending hours on end typing "no pk no play" and "@@@@@@@" is a clear indication that you have nothing better to do (IE: No life)

Actually No.

I was at a riot recently on my newb account, because I was bored.

I noticed minor organization and the majoirty were saying "No pk, no rs" not "@@@@@@@@@@@@@@"

------

I personally think the average TIF'r, when they hear: "buncha people started a riot" they think 'oh great RSOF started another riot" and because of TIF's already negativity toward RSOF, they act the same way they do when they hear stupid posts on the forums "LOL wow they are stupid" "pfft typical RSOF" etc...

I don't think riots would work unless there were riots across all at least 30 of the worlds, and causing them to lag.

ok a few things

Be honest, everyone hates Jagex.

everyone? come on thats totally nonsensically, hating them is just spiteing yourself, they create, maintain and updated the game you play

If all these haters weren't so ignorant.

i mentioned this in another riot thread but... "riots" in RS are pathetic as they are, essitially (sP), people standing and saying things...wow riotous  . this is also the main reason there ineffective. to perform a real riot (which is also a pathetic buzz word anyway as if you want change you protest, if you wanna lynch, be a hooligan or set cars on fire you riot)

you need to effect jagex profits, which means strikes and such or stopping the game from working.

we might have a real big riot that Jagex will pay attention to .

No, no, no, no, no silly rabbit. jagex will take notice of public opinion when it is not formally and approitaly supplied imo

spaming "no pk, no play" does nothing because

a) very few people quit when No PK continues

B) its not a suggestion, really, so its not constructive

c) Wildy will (okay people, eyes on, concentrated, try your hardest here because im starting to bore even myself)never (ready?) ever be coming back*

(*in the same way it was, or without major changes to the economy, like not having one)

so all you lil' hellraisers out there, all you lil' rebel rousers stop spaming and consider a half decent method of getting your point across

Theres a fine line between not listening and not caring,

I like to think I walk this line every day.

Pinning blame on Jagex is like trying to put pants on an old man.

You both know he needs them, but he'll just keep dancing around, avoiding them at all costs.

learn the difference between a riot and a protest

a protest is an organized, nonviolent way of speaking out against things you disagree with.

a riot is a lawless, violent, senseless attack against authority

case in point the detroit riots compared to th protests at the republican national convention

Riots in RuneScape are pointless because it would be nearly impossible to get enough people participating in the riot to even have a slight impact on what JaGex thinks. Rioting for a significant change in rs would be equivalent to a global riot for world peace....it's just not going to happen - mainly because many people are satisfied with the product/service they are receiving and although they may prefer it to be better, it's still acceptable the way it is.

As for the "everyone hates jagex" part...I'd have to say that only a small percentage actually hate them, instead most just think they are idiots and there's a major difference between hating someone and thinking they're stupid.

Why are people so negative about riots?

Because they're annoying.

I LOVE the 10/12 updates. No more fighting over prices, no more standing in banks for hours selling things, and best of all: No more arrogant pures.

Go train your defense and SHUT UP ALREADY. Post in the other 55,000 threads at the least.

You know, anyone could write a drawn-out thesis as to why riots in RuneScape are absolutely pathetic, but I'll sum it up in a few paragraphs.

Riots serve no purpose in RuneScape, since you always have the option to leave the game.

Some of most controversial updates that have hit weren't done because they were a popular move, but because they were a necessary move. If the amount of disdain and complaints from other updates before that were any precursor, then Jagex surely knew that there were people that would like the changes, and there would be that would dislike them. [Although, I doubt anyone believed there'd be any zealots left after seven months...]

Second, people use false ideals and irrelevant facts to support their illegitimate tantrum. Anyone, and I mean anyone that dares compare a real-life riot to a RuneScape riot is full of hot air. You can't tell me that riots in various parts of the world can relate to a game. This game is not run by popular vote; it's run by Jagex, a company which so-happens to let you voice your opinion on various things, and lets you influence [to a degree] updates to the game. No one "elected" officials to do a "job" for them in this game, so you really can't demand anything from them. If you're dissatisfied with their product or the direction they're headed, leave, and don't let the door hit you on the way out.

Lastly, the players that are still complaining are, ironically enough, still paying to play the game. Either they're stuck on stupid, or they just love to rant. If they were serious about their disdain, they've have left for greener pastures by now. Those that haven't do not have a lot of credibility for their claims, since you'd be hard-pressed to find an intelligent consumer still paying for a less-than-satisfactory product.

That's a mini-thesis for you. Riots in RuneScape accomplish little more than proving how immature teenagers are. If they meant to prove another point, they've failed miserably.

Because rioting on a game is completely pointless. It's not like real life where someone might actually notice. There's no washington DC (or the like) to have a riot rally at. It doesn't work.

It's a complete waste of time, and in the example of rs, it doesn't work at all. Complaining directly to Jagex or posting in the rants forum might be better, but I guess people want to blow steam.

People are negative towards riots because it's not only utterly pointless, but in the end, it wastes both your time and jagex's time.

Case in point:

See it just wasted 5 minutes of your life

Problem solved, kthxbai

1:35 secs in the spam of @ begins. If people didn't do that and cause a chain reaction then riots would be efficent

Don't you know the first rule of MMO's? Anyone higher level than you has no life, and anyone lower than you is a noob.

Jagex is a business. Runescape is a product. If you don't like the product, stop buying it and buy another.

there is nothing that could make these "riots" efficient

jagex doesn't care as long as you keep playing

like makoto said, they are a company selling a product

not a government agency

if you don't like the updates, then play another game

it's as simple as that

they have no responsibility whatsoever to give you what you want

if you really want to make some changes, go buy out the company and implement them yourselves

until then shut the [bleep] up you [developmentally delayed]ed little piece of [cabbage] [bleep]es

Why don't the pro-riot newbies go do an Runescape riot IRL ? I mean, they obviously take themselves seriously. But than again nobody else does.

Seeing as a riot is not typing as fast as you can while clicking on an emoticon in sync with 1000 other nerds.

A riot can NOT happen in a computer game. And you aren't shouting JUST BECAUSE YOU HAVE CAPS PUT ON. I hope some people understand what I'm getting at.

Stop talking about organizing riots online. Log off your computer and get some friends out in front of Jagex' HQ and paint some banners. Thats not even a riot, its a protest. In fact a riot can only be a riot when violence is dragged into the scene. So please PLEASE stop these pitiful internet-gatherings-where-we-all-type-in-caps events. Its lame and a waste of time, for you, for jagex and for the players who on chance walk by you and your star trek buddies.

[hide=]OOPS I PRESSED SUBMIT INSTEAD OF PREVIEW.. -TOPIC NOt finished-

When you grow up in America, you are thought to follow every rule and law. Even if it is the lamest rule in your school, you follow it. For example, I fought some gangster wannabe in my school and my friend knew about it, he was going all "dude you shouldn't do this. we will get caught. omfg". Anyways, point being that people that grow up in USA tend to do exactly as told by the higher authority.

That can be implied to the "recent" changes made in Runescape - the Nuclear Bombing on player rights, online freedom of speech, freedom of merchanting & trading, amongst with many more (pking, staking, merch, helping others, complaining to jagex, talking to jagex, you want me to go on??).

When something is made and a large part of a community doesn't like it, they do something about it. They don't just sit there and say "pfft, nothing is gonna change. we will live with a dumbo president forEVA!" (or complaining about the corrent situation they don't like), they go OUT and complain. It can be to their church leaders, political leaders or whatever. They even stand in the streets shouting out.

What I'm trying to say, PEOPLE DO SOMETHING.

I said so much about rl life stuff because I know others will try to find a way to prove me wrong.

So, lets apply this to Run & Escape. Be honest, everyone hates Jagex. They did things to us that we don't even want to think of. They knew the effects, yet they still did it. Now, why are players so afraid of speaking out? You hear the word "riot" and IMMEDIATELY go "omfg no no we might get banned like omfg its a waste of time L.OL". Others might have a more civilized response such as "No. It has been tried before. It doesn't work" and many other replies. All of which are negative.. but why not give it a try? a REAL try. If all these haters weren't so ignorant, we might have a real big riot that Jagex will pay attention to.

Ok hmm.. Since I pressed submit instead of preview.. I want to finish this up. So the question is..

Why are you so negative about riots?

If you aren't... If a real big organized riot which would be advertised in every fansite and big clan forum.. would you come and advertise it??[/hide]

Do you really have to ask why people hate RuneScape riots? They accomplish absolutely NOTHING AT ALL, and they disrupt gameplay for normal players that don't work for Jagex. Not to mention riots are almost always about stupid things that the majority of RuneScape players simply don't care about.

Nothing has been accomplished on RuneScape by rioting. The only way players have gotten Jagex to change things is by posting it in the forums in a MATURE fashion(Not spamming the forums.) Jagex is also 80% more likely to see a thread on the forums than some stupid spamfest ingame.

Let me get this right your basically whining about why people hate spam fest and lag fest in their world? All riots are are spam/flame/lag fests that are infact a waste of a mod's time to mute those idiots. Also not everyone hates Jagex just because Pking/Trading got taken away doesn't meen everyone liked it. Also 1 major flaw is you bringing the USA into this when Jagex is British. It's their game they can do anything they want to it.
