On that quiz I got 77% and I've been on 4chan maybe 5 times... I personally choose not to melt my mind with such drivel to be honest. I have friends that frequent it often and they simply cannot stop parroting 4chan memes. I don't want to be that way.

 

 

 

And it annoys me when people start talking all that 4chan crap and memes outside of 4chan - eg, Tipit, thanks to a few who think it's pretty cool. It's not. /b/ is a sad place, and you don't want to be associated with it.

 

 

 

I agree with that, but I also have to mention that at times there are some incredibly funny pictures there that are new for me. Granted that the over-used memes, gore, trolls, racism and such outweigh all that, it unfortunately is still enough to bring me back when I am bored.

 

 

 

Since I'm doing it with Runescape, I figure I may as well try it with /b/. I will not go on /b/ for the rest of the summer.

Because the majority of people that play Runescape are under 18, I don't think that 4chan is really an appropriate topic. Even the rules off the main site say so:

There ranges everything from pornography to beasitality to gore to racial slurs to sexism. This is really not a place for most Runescape players.

 

 

 

Note: If you are over 18, go for it! I'm just saying that as Runescape is for people aged THIRTEEN and up, there may be a lot of players in that age range (13-17) that should not be viewing 4chan.

Well after 4chan went down for a while when it came back I started visiting /r9k/ and tbh it's much better than the crap on /b/.

 

/b/ is just of a bunch of e-hard teenagers and people who think they're so great because they're desensitized by gore etc, when irl they're just sad nerds.

 

/r9k/ however is a lot better, because they don't act like they're amazingly tough and they actually hold intelligent conversations...

Honestly, /b/ is weak compared to what it used to be. Whatever is considered gorey or risqué nowadays would be laughed at in yesteryear and proven very, very wrong.

 

Im not strictly supporting /b/ itself, I dont personally visit there due to new[bleep]etry, but im still not a fan of taking a dig at a website due to one part of it. An old quote from better times;

The sad thing is, a lot of famous internet memes have actually originated from 4chan, many of which frequent across the internet. Many of which originate from /b/. Its a double edged sword, 99% unfunny reposts, 1% funny reposts.

Its not about being an "internet tough guy", /b/ used to be about being who we really are, horrible insensitive monsters. That was the whole point of Anonymous. Problem is, one person with similiar values to those who may post here got in. They see something they dont like, post about "OMG 4CHAN IS DISGUSTING" on their website or forum they came from, that forum all go to check out this "disgusting" website, some stay - some leave, those who leave return to whine about it and "Uh, excuse me but you cant do that on the internet". Word spreads, some stay - some leave. Gradually, /b/ gets watered down with an influx of kawaii bishie ^_^ xDDDD asshats. /b/ turns from ARE YOU REX ENOUGH FOR TECH SUPPORT to I GUESS THIS IS WHY THEY CALL THIS PLACE RANDOM XD.

 

Caturday used to be purely a /b/ thing. Every saturday there would be atleast one thread full of caturday or cat related images. Then, word got out. "Hey man, this is pretty funny, lets steal the idea and tell the whole internet!". Sadly, what spawned was not as caturday once was, but instead icanhascheezburger or some crap. Now, they could have just left it; taken the idea and publicised it. Sure, /b/ probably wouldve gotten angry and DDoS'd them, and that might've been the end of it. But some smart person decided to add "Oh yeah, we got this idea from 4chan lol go check it out its an awesome place." And once again, /b/ gets watered down. Now, each time anything with any merit is posted on 4chan its immediately spread and linked back.

 

Threads like this are the cancer that is killing 4chan. Habeeb it.

In all seriousness, Some memes are funny depending on how they are used, but most of the time its just sad. People from other sites who use memes (including me, VERY rarely) think of it as a "cool secret language" that other 4chaners will understand and laughter will ensue. This obviously, is not the case because 99% of people know about memes and a large amount of people think they are stupid, which they are

I wouldn't judge a person by that, but agree it sounds extremely irritating/dumb if you say it in real life. It sort of lowers your personal image into " arrogant teen boy". Can't even imagine someone like 35 years old saying memes in a business setting etc.
