Do you think that Jagex is trying to get WoW players to RS when they try to search for a WoW video?

Yes, but not mainly for getting WoW players into RS, it's more of an advertising scheme. That's how quite a few people advertise on YouTube and other places.

 

 

 

Also, some other games advertise not by their own name but by something like "play similar *insert popular game*". Didn't know Jagex would so something like this, it's like admitting that they have less users than WoW.

I don't see all the tags that they could have used there. Nothing like 99; skill capes; k0 jad and that rubbish. They are directly targeting WoW and AoC players.

Like 3_Hit_U said, people use a mass of popular tags so people will find their video, even if it has nothing to do with what they searched.

 

 

 

WoW is an mmorpg like RuneScape, so it's still similar.

 

 

 

It's not admitting they're inferior at all.

 

They have a similar game which might catch the attention of people who play WoW.

 

Remember JaGEx is a business.

They're using low and uncool ways of advertising, often used by smaller companies or websites. There's nothing wrong with it and it's a good way to attract more people, but I'm skeptical about Jagex doing something like this. It makes them lose the professional status.

I'm getting really bored of all those WoW threads. Can't you people spend a single day without feeling the need to talk about WoW like they're your arch enemies? WoW doesn't care about RS, RS doesn't care about WoW. You guys could flame mabinogi, age of conan, lineage 2, guild wars, or god knows which mmorpg you perceive as a threat. But you'd actually have to know anything about mmorpgs to do that, so let's just blame everything on the big popular guy yeah?

 

 

 

It's just a way to advertise. That doesn't suddenly transform them into big evil monsters. If the tag had been "Banana split" would you have made a thread about it? Probably not. But since it's WoW, let's just bash it along the way! ¬___¬

Yes i've noticed more aggressive players already and i'm positive they're from WOW. Literally, everyday now I find atleast 1 person coming up to me calling me "nerd" for no reason at all, or dissing anything I say, and that is NOT NORMAL. What has RS come to.. *RS - high definition* should be renamed to *RS high definition - the rise of the immature players.* :roll:

jagex would be dumb to not put tags like that in there because they are trying to lure people back to play. i have seen multiple mmorpg ads on the rs site that are trying to make the game look interesting so we will go play it, so why shouldnt jagex do that?

using tags is necessary if you want the video to be popular. having the same group watching the video won't influence anyone different.

Because the latest "craze" is the whole emo indie punk skater styles so put that in and way more ppl will see your stuff.

 

 

 

In the world of mmorpgs Wow and Runescape are the big player that anyone who is up on their mmorpgs will know of at the very least. Anyone who jsut vaguely knoes the mmorpg landscape will know of wow at the very least.

 

 

 

So put wow and rs into youtr tags and boom high chance your gonna get like 80% of mmorpgs hardcore players seeing it and like 75% oif casul players.

No, no. They quit because RS is lame compared to many things in WoW.

Of course Jagex put those tags there, it's advertising. By putting tags of other popular MMORPGs, Jagex will get more players seeing the video. More views equals higher interest, higher interest equals more players, and more players equals more money.

Considering RS is java and WoW is an actual software based game with various expansion packs thats not such a bad thing. And Im sure they're just connecting with the vast majority of MMO users. Think how many WoW searchs, why not throw your game into the mix for the heck of it.
