Well yesterday while I was walking back home from school, and I almost died! I was on the Intersection of 17th and Main (wich are Major main Streets) There was this incident, a car crashed into another and that in turn crashed another car. Well in this Dominoe Effect a car crashed into me. I Blacked Outed. I probably went flying a good 5 feet before landing on the grass (Thank GOD!). When I woke up a Lady and Her Friends were helping me get up, telling me if I was Ok If I needed Medical attention. I just stood back up with a bump on the Head.

That was probably one of the most Scariest, Nerve Wrecking Expierences in my Life. Do you have anything like this, it could be where you almost died or you were just scared out of your wits. :ohnoes:

Just remember, keep it clean ;) I don't want stories in wich someone you knew actually died.

Wongton is better than me in anyway~~

Blacked out while I was driving one time (low blood pressure + lack of food) and hit a tree doing ~50mph. Walked away with a sprained wrist and a few bruises. Cops said I should have died. :D

Edit: Got a pic for ya too ;)

Whoa! What part of your car got wrecked? The Driver's Seat or the Passenger's Seat?

Edited in a pic. Drivers side got destroyed. Got ~$10,000 back from insurance though

When I was 11, I was riding my bike and I looked both ways before crossing the street. Well I rode my bike and apparently a car was coming so I got hit. I was hardly hurt (Dont know why) and when the lady called the cops for some reason I just ran.

Also when I was 8 I ran through glass, completely broke the whole thing, But I didnt have one scratch on me.

I seem to never get hurt in life-threatning situations.

Edit: I forgot this one, so it had just finished raining and outside our home we have a pole that you use to walk up the steps and I was sitting on it, I flipped over, landed into our garbace can, broke my wrist and badly scratched the side of my face. If I hadnt fallen into the garbace can I would of broken my neck.

I've never had a near death experience but half an hour I walked on hot coals... was making a barbecue, not wearing shoes, and I was just about to put the kebabs on so I moved the briquette-thingies around a bit, split them all over my feet...

I've been in a Earthquake before and that scared me. (Spain)

I've been in a lightning storm that hit my house, my telly broke :( (At home in England)

And i've been close to a tornado but it went away. (America)

Other than that it's been alright really.

Just a tornado when I was seven or so. Lost our trampoline, but we ended up fine.

catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream

Many years back, we were moving and looking at a house. The owners still lived there, and would be moving about the time we moved in. Right before going back to our hotel, the owners called us back for a few seconds to ask if we wanted to have pizza the next day. On our way back, the car right in front of us was sudenly blindsided by a van that came from some little side road, hitting it ona right angle. It was bad, I think the car flipped and was totaled. Had the owners of the house not called us back there for those few seconds, that would have been us in the crash.

Just the normal hurricane/typhoon and earthquake in Taiwan. I don't remember any big ones, Taipei rarely is the center of them. Though once, there was a big one in Fong Yuan, where my grandma lives. I don't think I was there though...I was like 2...

Once I almost drowned...

The sea was pretty wild and I was still young (like 8-9). My sister was swimming and I wasn't, so I decided to swim to her. It went pretty fast, and with the waves I didn't notice that she was getting out of the sea. So I look in front of me and don't see my sister, and I swim a bit further when I discover that there's no one in front of me and when I looked back I saw how deep I was. Naturally, I tried swimming back, but the waves and my weakness (like I said, I was 8-9 years old) held me from doing so. The lifeguard starting whistling to get me back and my sister swam up to me, with the lifeguard behind her.

I'm pretty damn lucky I got seen, it could've been my death... =/

This didn't happen to me, but my dad. It's kinda like Lenin's story.

So my dad had to fly somewhere to get to an important meeting, but for some reason he missed the plane. Ofcourse he was mad and was annoyed and whatever else you are if you miss an important plane. But then the plane crashed and killed hundreds. If he did get to the airplane on time, he probably would've died...

I was about 4 years old. I was near the backdoor, on the bottom steps with my brother (same age), we were playing or doing something.

My day was cutting the grass, happened to go over a rock, and the rock came shooting out directly at me. The rock is like half my height at that time apparently, and I'm basically a baby. Anyways, I went to go walk up the steps, and my one leg was still on the ground when it hit. If I hadn't of started to go up the steps, I'd have had my lower torso crushed (death). My mom saw this all though, so I don't know who it was more terrifying for. ::'

But nice stories thus far.

i hope this topic survives, its entertaining to read these stories. that sounds really morbid, but you know what i mean i hope.

This kinda happend to me, but my friend brought his little inflatable boat. Iwent in and he started peddaling. Half way through he lost one of the paddles and we were slowly drifting into sea -.- I was Scolding at him, "How the [bleep] can you drop the Freakin Paddle!!!" and then the lifeguard swam out to us and had to bring us to shore...

My kitchen caught on fire and i had to jump out of the kitchen with and explosion behind me (Picture it just like in the movies). I have pictures of my burns but they are graphic (Blood etc) so i can show you the day after at the hospital but that is it. If you desperately want to see the other pictures private message me about it, but they are not suitable pictures.

Basically what happened was i was cooking with oil on the stove, i turned it all off and went into my room. I came out five minutes later with the house filling with smoke went into the kitchen and the pot with oil in it was on fire. Panicing i did the worst thing possible i picked it up and placed it under running water, it created an explosion like the one below:

fireball001.jpg

In my kitchen i turned and ran as quick as possible but my right arm was still in the way i fell onto the ground, and got up as the flames passed over me. I quickly ran out into the street (hitting my toe on the pole in the middle of the road breaking it) and screamed for help. We have gas in our house and i was concerned over that. Thankfully there were two lovely gentleman across the road who were ex firefighters they ran in and saved the day. Even getting burns themselves. Whilst they were saving the day i tried to call 000 (Us equivalent of 911) I was told to hang up and wait for someone to call me back. The fire department and Ambulance never came. I have since lost faith in the Queensland Emergency Department. If when i am in a dire situation and need help and i get told to hang up and wait for a call back.

Those two gentle man put out the fire and used some grated potato on my arm to keep it moist. Thanks to them i am alive, i could've died there. My troubles didn't stop there when i got in touch with my grandfather he came and picked me up to take me to the hospital. The hospital staff were incompetent. They asked me what happened i told them, then they asked me what they needed to do to my arm. Do i have a medical degree. They made me stand in a room with my arm under a sink to keep it moist after i told them i needed water. I stood there for an hour in shock freezing my backside off. Then i had four different doctors come in, one said they would be sending me to the Princess Alexandra Hospital, another said just bandage it up and send me home, another said they would put a drip in my leg another came in and put a drip in my arm filled with morphine. So here i was losing consciousness due to the morphine (Mind you i had no pain whatsoever).

They bandaged my arm sent me home and said it would be healed in one week. Well the next day at the PA hospital i was told i'd received third degree burns, my nerves had been burnt and i might even need skin grafting. I spent the next five months in and out of hospital every single day. Getting new bandages, getting checked over. Blisters were getting popped dead skin being pulled off, blood covering the sheets. I will be honest, it was hell and i wouldn't wish that upon anyone at all. I was lucky it was only my arm, i feel very deeply for the people who suffer it all over their body.

It took over a month for me to regain feeling in my arm and that was the worst part ever. I had extremely strong pain killers that did nothing i just had to sit and bear the pain.

To do this day i suffer mentally from what happened. I do not like smoke, fire, ambulances, firefighters, fire alarms.

EDIT: To clarify i did turn off the stove, but we'd reported it numerous times the gas has a habit of turning itself back on -.- But what more can you expect from governmental housing.

I've had quite a few actually. I've choked on food (usually because I was laughing) about four times, but luckily each time it happened there was someone (Mom :D) there who knew the Heimlich manoeveur.

Another time was when I was about 6 years old, and our family went on a trip to Jamaica to visit my father's brother. They had a huge pool, and I was just messing around with some Iguana's near the outside of the pool. I slipped, knocked my head on the side of the pool, blacked out and fell in. I woke up a few minutes later - my cousin had saved me.

Another one was when I was heading to a funeral, and we had to take a taxi, and the driver fully speeds through a red light and he almost crashes into another car. It was actually the last time I've taken a taxi since then

That's all I can think of, hope I don't get any more =\

I've had a few experiences where I've gotten out lucky. One time I got electrocuted, the electricity went in and out on my back on either side of my heart. Went to a doctor and I was fine besides the scars and burns, but got told I'm lucky to be alive.

Another time I was in the car at night with a couple mates, and the driver got a bit stupid and started doing fishtails at around 70-80kpm. Car lost traction, went into a ditch, and up the side of a driveway, got air and started turning, landed and somehow got control. Went back in the morning to check it out and we missed a power pole by less than a meter, and a concrete thing that would have totaled the car by about 10cm. It happened really quick and was at night, but from the looks of the tyre marks I would have directly hit the pole. Amazing thing is everybody was fine, and the only damage to the car was the front bumper and 2 popped tyres.

We have a dangerous corner near our house, the road is narrow and you can't see anything because the bush comes right up to the road. Someone coming around the opposite way at the same time as us was moving a bit too fast and wasn't on their side of the road. They slammed on the brakes and started sliding, my dad gunned it and swerved and we somehow didn't get hit on the side. Thinking back I don't know how we didn't get hit.

Another time was my fault. Came up to an intersection near my house, but the sun was in my eyes and the windscreen was dirty so I couldn't see much. Swore nobody was there, but I nearly got T-boned at 90kph. Lucky the intersection was wide and nobody else was there, so the guy had room to swerve and I just had to brake. If I ever crash my car it's probably going to be at that intersection.

Wow, Shaza, you're lucky to be alive... I'm kinda speechless, so yeah...

Why is that whenever I hear a story about ambulances/police or any other services being late/irresponsible or whatever, it's always from Brisbane, Australia... From the looks of it, that place needs a makeover when it comes to such services =/

Once when I was really little and unable to get a plug out, I stuck a key behind it to try and leiver it out.

Seconds later... a bang and my hands have gone black, showed my mum and thats all I can remember.

Really was quite lucky thinking about it now to survive.

And then he was all like, "Oh yeah, I'm Fijian that's why."

Well, my grandparents have (well actually now had.. they took it out) this cool pool in their backyard. When i was like 5 or maybe 4 (cant remember) I used to have to wear floaties around my arm to swim. Well, I hated those things. Also, I was always left out in the cool activities that everyone else did in the pool like volleyball, so I wanted to prove them I could swim without them on so I could have fun too. I was only in like my 1st year of swimming lessons which was like 3 feet of water with us holding onto the side the whole time with the teacher holding us up.

Well, I go in the pool without my floaties while everyone is inside. Bad move. I found out right there i couldnt swim and went underwater and was flailing madly with water going in my mouth. Lucky for me, my grandpa happened to go outside to tend to his flowers or something and saw me. He jumped right in with his clothes and shoes and all and pulled me put of there. Otherwise I probably would have drowned :ohnoes: and no one would have known, that is until they realize I'm missing.

Haha, everyday at work is a near death experience.I believe I've told the story of getting my eye-scar before,so I'll skip that...I was nearly shot few years back...I was at an Army Open House shooting the M16...The gun was huge and I was like 8,so my body was pretty small.Wham the recoil hits my ribs, the doctor said they almost broke, they pushed into my lungs.Since I have asthma,my respiration isn't that great,so damn my respiration on the machine was really low.

Then there was that time some arsenic exploded in the hot sun...My right arm was hairless and I had to shave the left one to look less like a freak. And then, the best one.My house (like Lichef) was hit by lightning.I happened to be showering and erm...Something else ;) .I got an electric shock and my hand was stuck to...erm my stomach  for a few hours.Apparently it just barely missed my heart. So I survived, and mini-me survived.I just had no erm...Sprite for a while.
