Rather chilly, miserable weather as of late. Normally I don't mind this weather, but it's a bit too chilly for this time of year.

Talked to one of my buddies who leads a jam/fusion band with a bunch of other U of M music students and they're going to be needing a drummer soon. He told me to "get practicing." Hopefully I can be gigging all summer instead of working!

Got a high distinction on my first uni essay, which was completed half an hour before I handed it in. Feels good. :3

 

Now I am watching Spaced. It is hilarious. All is good in the world, except I have another assignment due today which I should be working on. Hopefully it goes as well as the essay did.

Went to a University seminar today, got a BUNCH of prospectus(es or is it i) and now considering the university to attend.

 

But I have come to terms that I will take a year out after studying for my A-levels to apply for an apprenticeship, cause apparently that makes future employers goo in their pants.

 

It'll also help with finance of the university.

Are you in A2 or AS? If you're in A2 then you could apply late for university entry this September and save yourself some money before tuition fees go up the year after. Sure, the tuition fees shouldn't impact in the short-term since grant and loan is still available but that year could be the difference between £9,000 tuition fees and £27,000 fees considering pretty much every university is having to charge £9,000 regardless of what the government wants to happen.

 

Work experience is great though.

I began writing a story out of boredom.

 

It's not finished yet, but it's about a homosexual high schooler who reveals that he is gay.

 

I've actually been thinking about writing something like this for a while now. I'm writing it in respect to homosexuals, who have to keep quiet to avoid hatred.

 

The story is in the hide tag.

 

 

CHAPTER ONE:

Do you know how it feels to be different? It feels awful. Terrible. Sickening. I go to school every day with a sick stomach. Nobody knew of my secret difference until a few days ago, November 15th. It started like a normal day of a tenth grader. People walking and talking in the halls, the gamers playing handheld video games, the jocks being show offs, and the couples hugging and kissing. Quite a normal start to a day at Hudson High School. Until 1st period began. My friends, John and Rog (his actual name is Roger, but people shorten it to Rog), were telling me all about this hot chick named Amber who, according to them, liked me.

I told them I wasnt interested in girls at the moment, making up excuses that I have a lot of homework and that school is more important. Rog kept at it, almost insulting me, You wouldnt hit that, you idiot? Shes sexy. Youre telling me that your Geometry homework is better than dating her? You must be stupid. Youre taking this opportunity and throwing it out. Stop being a p*ssy.

It struck me as if we werent friends anymore at the point. It surprised me greatly that Rog was acting like that. You see, Rog and I go way back as many other kids would say. We met in the third grade, he was struggling with some math work in the classroom and I went over and helped him out. He didnt like me much at first, I could tell, but when he went home, he must have told his Mom, because his Mom invited me over for dinner the next night as a thank you. We went on from there after we discovered that we like the same kind of music and stuff. My favorite band ever is Iron Maiden. That was his favorite too. My favorite movie ever was the Wizard of Oz. That was his favorite also.

But Rog changed so much over the past few months. He didnt want to hang out much anymore, only at school. He got into drugs too, Ive seen him smoking weed with some friends, but I dont think too much about it. People see their friends differently than another other people. They tolerate their friends actions more. Its strange to me. Anyway, Rog got into girls too. Ive seen him date, like, three girls in the past two months. He tells stories of how he took their clothes right off and how he gets laid so hard. Rog and I slowly broke apart because of these differences. I liked to stay home and browse the internet and read comic books, while he liked to go out and get drunk/high.

John isnt as bad as Rog. I still consider him a good friend. He sometimes does things that I dont agree with, such as smoking or sometimes objectifying women, calling them hot chicks. But I suppose that is male nature. John and I met back when I played Little League Baseball in the 4th grade. He was, and still is, kind of a jock. He was humble, but I and many other players thought he was the best player on the Baseball team. I swear he hit the ball and made it to home base every time. John didnt change as much as Rog as we grew up. He started smoking, but thats it. He is still into Baseball and Football and stuff. He often wins bets in those March Madness things. Now that I think about it, hed make a great gambler.

Now, to me. My name is Robert Griffin. I grew up having little friends and playing by myself most of the time. I remember back when I was five, I would look out the window, and see the other kids playing with their friends, having a good time. I dont know how I managed to think, I still want to play by myself. I also grew up as a gifted student. I have a higher-than-average-IQ, which put me in many challenge courses in Elementary school. I didnt really try, though. Its hard to accept that you are gifted in a field that you have no interest in. I wanted to be an artist, not a college professor or some kind of Physicist. When I would come back to school without my homework done, my teacher would always be disappointed in me. She would always say, Robert, why do you choose to do this? Dont you want to learn and become something great when you grow up? I dont know why, but I would always shed a few tears when she would say this. I have no idea why, it was just the feeling of disappointment and regret. But I still kept at not turning in my homework, and it became a morning tradition to shed a few tears and feel regret for a minute.

CHAPTER TWO:

Anyways, I didnt take Rogs insults lightly. I stood up, and said to him, Im not interested. Can you understand that? I know you think that women are objects. But I dont. Im just not interested, dont you understand?

Rog started laughing. What are you, a [bleep]?

I felt a deep fury inside me at the point. [bleep] was a word I loathed. I hated it. When I see kids walking in the hallway, calling each other [bleep]s and making fun of homosexuals, I get a feeling of hatred. Out of this fury, I said something I should have never said.

Yes, I am homosexual. Yeah, its true. Okay?

Rog looked at me and stayed quiet. I then realized what I had done. The whole class heard that, including the teacher, Mr. Willis. I felt sick, ran out of the classroom, and vomited in the toilet in the bathroom down the hall. I felt the regret again, the same regret I felt in Elementary school when I didnt do my homework. My legs were trembling, and I felt so weak. My secret was revealed.

Most people think that admitting that you are gay is no big deal. But it is a big deal for me. My parents are both fundamental Christians and Republicans. Being gay was a disease to them. I never, ever would tell them about my homosexuality. Never.

I suddenly heard Mr. Williss footsteps. I quietly and quickly stood up on the toilet seat, and ducked so he couldnt see me over or under the stall. Robert? he called, You in here?

The smell of the vomit was unbearable and it made my eyes tear up. I tried not to gag and sputter at the awful smell. Mr. Willis assumed I wasnt there and walked away. I stepped down, stumbled out of the stall, and went to the sink to wash my face. Then I just sat in a stall (not in the one where I vomited). I could faintly smell it, but it didnt matter to me. I started tearing up, and it felt like the same tears I cried back in Elementary school. Paranoia struck my brain. What if my parents found out? What if everyone at school founds out? These thoughts jolted more tears and I sat there crying for an hour.

I was so afraid of my parents finding out. I was scared that they will kick me out of the house. My parents are firm believers that [bleep]s go to Hell and Im sure that they wouldnt even think of me as their son if they found out that Im gay. The kids at school would probably call ME the [bleep] and push me around. Suicidal thoughts even ran through my mind at the moment. Dad keeps a rifle in his bedroom; could I kill myself with that?

I heard some footsteps from students outside the restroom, and I suddenly remembered where I am. I calmed down, collected myself, and walked out of the restroom.

 

 

 

I will warn you, it contains some language (particularly the word used toward homosexuals), but it's used in a matter realistic to the story, and TIF will likely censor it anyway.

Today was a bit strange, fun but strange nonetheless. It felt like, I don't know, like a hang-over but without the nausea and without having been drunk the day before. And now it's time to go to sleep.
