Noxx
The car i have now is pretty uncomfortable to drive. I thought it would be fun having a convertible, but i hardly ever put the roof down because it's just too hot and when it's not too hot it's too humid. Aside from that, it's hard to explain, but i have a hard time really seeing what goes on around me. It's like the car has so many blind spots. I just don't feel that comfortable driving it. Been thinking about getting rid of it for a while, and i guess this was really just the motivation i needed. In terms of savings... well even if get a new car i still save about half my salary each month. I have a housing allowance, a car allowance, and a phone allowance, so all i really need to pay for is food and a bit extra for my car since my allowance doesn't fully cover that. And i don't have to pay any taxes so there's that. Whatever is left goes into an account in the Caymans. As for traveling... strange as it seems (considering i'm training to be a pilot), i really dislike traveling. I have a few "business" trips lined up in the next 4 or 5 months to Vegas, London, Barcelona, etc. and i'm really not looking forward to them.
obfuscator
I need to start marking holidays on my calendar. Got dressed for work and shit, got in my car and realised there was like zero traffic. Half-way to work there was still no traffic so i checked my phone only to realise it was the first day of Eid. So i have the next few days off. Figure i might use this to buy a new car. Just need to decide what. I've at least narrowed it down to a Benz C63, Audi RS5, or BMW M6. Maserati was still a bit out of reach unless i didn't go out for like the next 3 or 4 months. And the ones within my price range weren't all that nice either, to be honest. Do most people where you are drive those sorts of cars? "It's not a rest for me, it's a rest for the weights." - Dom Mazzetti

Based on what i see on the road, no statistics. The locals mostly drive "expensive" cars. Lot of German cars and Land Rovers as well. The general population though, no. The cars are what you would see in any other country. In my neighborhood though, the cars are very expensive. Neighbor on the left has something like 15 cars. It includes a Bentley, Rolls Royce, and a Mercedes SLS. Neighbor on the right has a Maserati GranTurismo, a Porsche 911, and 1 or 2 other cars i would classify as above average. I think they're considered to be wealthier locals though. It's not like every Qatari family has that many cars.
Major Dash
Speaking of buying cars, I've been talking about wanting a little hatchback for a while, so Wifey and I went to a Chevy (her preference) dealer. We thought we were interested in a Spark, but the dealer kept trying to upsell us to the Sonic. Having absolutely none of that, we tried out a Spark on the lot.Even after adjusting the seat, I kept smacking my head on the ceiling, and had some trouble getting under the hatch. Wifey said we needed to look at the Sonic instead. The Sonic we looked at had an adjustable seat, which I put all the way down. That cut down on some headache, although getting under the hatch wasn't much better than with the Spark. We took it out for a test drive, and were thoroughly underwhelmed. My dad has a 2008 Aveo5, and I was expecting something similar. Maybe it was the CVT(Aveo is a 5-speed manual), or maybe it was the 1.4L engine(Aveo is 1.6L), but it feels like my truck has quicker pick-up than that car did. It makes the Aveo feel like a real performer. The Sonic might be a perfectly functional vehicle if I tone down my expectations, Wifey likes the Mitsubishi Mirage, which was very comfortable to sit in and access the cargo area. (I couldn't smack my head without trying, so it isn't likely to happen as often as with the Chevrolets) I'm hoping the Ford Fiesta ST lives up to the hype. I'm not in a rush, so we probably won't buy anything without it seeming like a very good fit. I had really liked the idea of getting another Firebird, but it's just not practical. I commute via motorcycle whenever the weather allows(snow and ice are things here), and we're pretty much inseparable outside of work, so we take her car to go shopping or make long trips. Realistically, I might just replace my truck with another old truck when repairing/maintaining it costs more than I want to spend; it is kind of nice to have a truck around when you need one. Why do you want one of those tiny cars so much? “I had a feeling we weren’t coming back from this fight when it began.”“Do you have any regrets?”“I don’t. It seems surprising, I know, but I wouldn’t change a thing. Estonian dude
Cause they are cheap to buy, run, maintain and fill? Although our '99 Volvo V70 2.5 TDI takes 4.5 proven litres for a hundred kilometres (a calc I used said it was 52 American MPG) and it is a big machine with plenty enough horsepower for pretty much anything... RpgGamer
Noxx, that's possibly the biggest 1st world problem you've ever posted. Reminds me when my cousin told me he traded in his Ferrari for a Tesla because the Ferrari was to loud to make proper buisness calls in. I personally like low and tiny cars. Easy to park and nice and agile. My 2001 eclipse has served me well but I dont think it'll live past next season. Ive been looking mostly at Nissan 2 door Altimas but I'm open to suggestion. Major Dash
Ok, if you have a truck, sedan, and a bunch of bikes, I could see the smaller car for just casual cheap driving. I personally wouldn't buy a car that small since it would be hard to move stuff in, but your other vehicles remedies that. “I had a feeling we weren’t coming back from this fight when it began.”“Do you have any regrets?”“I don’t. Bonez899
Nice collection of bikes there. Sound logic on all purchases of course. I certainly don't have near the collection you do, but I have a nice 2005 Suzuki GS500 which is beautiful although not quite the style of bike you have. That being said I could possibly be persuaded to kill for that number of bikes and space for them... http://forum.tip.it/topic/325514-bonez899s-journey-to-an-eventual-max/ My blog of progress on Runescape. Kalphite
School has been kicking my ass this semester. This is the second night in a row i've been up past 4 doing homework and the 4th in a row I've been up past 2, and it's only the third week of school. Strangely though, I don't mind too much, as I really enjoy all of my classes for once. Just a shitton of time. I've still been able to have a decent social life too though actually; I just wish I could fit the gym into my schedule as I've essentially stopped going since the semester started due to how awkward my schedule is. That being said I could possibly be persuaded to kill for that number of bikes and space for them...They're not all bad, but they are mostly 30+ years old, and haven't always been taken care of, so there are issues that come with that. Everything but the Rebel and the V Star is parked for various reasons. It kind of feels like I'm making up for quality with quantity, since my bikes all have some issues, and I could have gotten a pretty nice modern bike for what I've put into the old rice buckets. Sometimes I almost wish I'd gone that route instead. Much of my riding is around town/commuting, and a light, agile bike with good brakes and the ability to take off quickly from a stop seems ideal for that... but we also take semi-regular trips to visit her family (60 miles), my family (160 miles), and her family's cabin (200 miles), or just spending a day riding around. Since I have issues with joint pain on a good day, comfortable seating position is a must. On the freeway, it's nice to have a little weight to avoid being blown around by trucks or stiff breezes. I keep revisiting buying a nice injected rocket, but I'm not sure that I really want to. I can service carburetors, but have no experience with EFI. Also, My Nighthawk is the closest to a sports bike I've actually ridden, so I'm not sure how comfortable I would be on one. I think I'm going to really like the Goldwing if I ever finish cleaning it up. It feels bigger than the Nighthawk (~430lbs), but it also feels much more capable than I had imagined it would. It handles remarkably well for such a big/heavy bike; better than the V Star. It might not be as zippy as the Nighthawk, but it's no slouch either.I certainly can't speak for everyone, but my father has bad back pain not really joint though. And he finds the ST1100/ european pan am quite comfortable to ride. Thar being said I know goldwing riders and they like it. It really is just finding what is comfortable for you. So far I've been lucky in that I'm 2 for 2 on that front. http://forum.tip.it/topic/325514-bonez899s-journey-to-an-eventual-max/ My blog of progress on Runescape. Tesset
Oh that automata class sounds cool, I don't think we even offered a class like thatYou don't have a class that teaches push down automata, context free grammars, and Turing machines? Those are all really important to creating compilers, and the two classes we had on it both liked to imply that CFGs were one of those things that every programmer had to know. Not every programmer writes compilers, drivers, cryptography software, or operating systems. The vast majority of programmers deal with (relatively) straightforward business logic and that stuff is overkill for that sort of job.
